Architecture Wednesday: Lake Tahoe Masterpiece

I think I’ve mentioned before that my family used to rent a cabin on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe every Summer while I was growing up. It was the best place to spend a Summer, high in the mountains with hiking and biking and swimming in the frigid lake; and it was a nice cabin, two bedrooms down and a loft upstairs with a large wrap-around deck.

Nowadays, though, my tastes have changed and this cabin, nestled on Crystal Bay, on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, just west of Incline Village, Nevada, might just fit the bill, even if it is a bit large and ostentatious.

This 7,850 square foot home sits on 1.2 private acres with 110 feet of lake frontage. The Great Room, with attached sunroom and lounge sits high above the water, with a beautiful terrace for those sunsets. The primary suite is set apart from the home, accessed via an enclosed bridge, with views and privacy in mind; outside and down some steps is an in-ground pool with an infinity edge overlooking one of the most beautiful spots on the planet. Downstairs are five more lake view en suite bedroom suites, including a bunk room, office, home gym, and family room and bar with a terrace view. In addition, there is a separate in-law wing over a three-car garage.

I love the windows and the views, and the soaring wooden ceilings; there are open spaces and private spaces so it fits about every family or group. Best of all is that lake frontage. Oh, it’s so far down the hill you say? Who wants to walk all that walk down the hill to the water and then walk back up?

The home comes equipped with a funicular tram brings you down to the crystal cove and deep-water shared pier with a boat lift and a buoy beyond.

They’ve thought of everything …

Bobservations

I forget sometimes that Carlos hasn’t lived in the US for his whole life and doesn’t recall some stories, some people, that have made news here. The other night we watched a movie called Driven, about the John DeLorean cocaine scandal, and John Hoffman, a small-time drug runner turned snitch for the FBI who helped take down DeLorean.

Halfway through the movie, Carlos says to me:

“Wasn’t there a car called DeLorean?”

And we were off about history and pop culture, and the fact that this was a true story, and, yes, Back to the Future, to which Carlos said:

“That was a DeLorean car?”

Sidenote: the role of DeLorean was played by out actor Lee Pace, who was hot as DeLorean, and hot in his own right.

Tuxedo has a note for ______: maybe if you hadn’t murdered 230,000+ Americans before Election Day, you might have liked the outcome better.

I missed this last week, but after Tuesday’s election, Nevada became the first state to protect same-sex marriage in its constitution, with voters approving a ballot measure by 61 to 38 percent.

Well, that’s wonderful news, too.

The _____ campaign’s is hoping to make some coins for his “Voter Fraud Ego Rallies” is not at all what it seems.

Truth be told, if you were foolish enough to vote for him, and foolish even to send him more money to fight the results, understand that at least half of any donation might actually go toward paying down debt for his campaign.

So, your coins won’t help his recount, they’ll help his bank account.

On a funnier note, you gotta love the way this Aussie newspaper handled _____’s reaction to the election.

On a sadder note … Alex Trebek passed away this week after a long battle with cancer. Jeopardy was, is, our favorite show and while the show will go on, no one will ever be Trebek.

If you didn’t really believe there was a dumb _____, ask yourselves why Eric The Dumb Tweeted that out a week after the election.

The mother of the Kenosha murderer is blaming protestors and police for her son killing two innocent people because if they hadn’t been there …

And if your son hadn’t armed himself and driven across state lines.

Shut up. Your son is a murderer.

Poor _____. It seems that about 80% of all Americans, including more than half of Republicans, recognize President-elect Joe Biden as the winner of the election.

Seriously, you’re fired. Most all of us believe and accept it.

Go.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg still has not publicly acknowledged that Biden won the election and continuously allows lies to be spread on Facebook.

Zuck off, Fuckerberg.

I’m not usually into gingers, but every so often a ginger comes along, and I go, Okur, I’m getting it now.

Prince Hot Ginger does it for me, and so does built … BUILT … ginger, Graysen Quinn. That face, that body, that ass.

That’s all.

Architecture Wednesday: Tresarca

Tresarca by assemblageSTUDIO:
“Nevada is a state of two worlds, one of glitz and glamour on the Las Vegas Strip which seeks to transplant imagery from around the globe to mesmerize the minds of 40 million tourists. While the latter develops its architecture from local materials, whose vernacular represents function over form.
At Tresarca, the materials develop a layering of mass as you move from the basement to the private realm. Each layer is representational of the stratification of the nearby Red Rock Mountains. Change of materials provides the variety of textures associated with the rock formations. Crevices between the masses form an oasis where landscape and water cool the space. The mesh screen provides both a protection from the harsh sun on the interior spaces and a play of shadows among the forms.
Blurring of the line between inside and out has been established throughout this home. Space is not determined by the enclosure but through the idea of space extending past perceived barriers into an expanded form of living indoors and out. Even in this harsh environment, one is able to enjoy this concept through the development of exterior courts which are designed to shade and protect.
Reminiscent of the crevices found in our rock formations where one often finds an oasis of life in this environment.”
