Well, well, well, while y’all were watching the Comey testimony you completely missed that other yuuuuge scandal of the week: HugGate!

Yup, at the National Night of Laughing and Song last week in DC Jerry Seinfeld was giving an interview when Kesha raced up to him, interrupted, and asked for a hug.

Jerry said no; Kesha tried again.

Jerry said no ... again ... and backed up.

Kesha squealed and ran off.

And then Kesha fans tried to come for Seinfeld on Twitter while Jerry, old school comic that he is, simply gave a statement ... with a side of shade:

“I’m 63. I don’t know every pop star ... In my reality I don’t hug a total stranger. I have to meet someone, say hello. I gotta start somewhere. Hug isn’t first moment of a human, two humans ... I got a borderline harassment case here.”

He totally Mimi-I-Don’t-Know-Her’d Kesha!

Poor JLo. It appears that while she can get any man she wants, once she gets them, they ... ALLEGEDLY ... cheat on her.

True; Alex Rodriguez has ... ALLEGEDLY ... been sexting with another woman while he was banging Jennifer Lopez and even tried to arrange a date with his secret love.

The National Enquirer—remember they got the John Edwards story right—says they have the sext messages between A-Rod and fitness model Lauren Hunter, included naked pictures of her sent to the former baseballer.

Hunter claims she and Rodriguez began dating back in 2011—while he was dating Cameron Diaz ... how’s that for an STD cesspool—and have been in touch ever since. And so, after A-Rod began banging dating JLo in March, he and Hunter ... ALLEGEDLY ... “began FaceTiming again three or four times a day and [Hunter] was sending him explicit messages and photos.”

Then, the Enquirer says, “on On May 10 [Rodriguez] told [Hunter] he missed her ... and asked her to send a video of her [doing a sex act].”

A couple of days later A-Rod asked Hunter to fly to Kansas City where he was doing on-air commentary for Fox, while JLo was in New York filming. Hunter didn’t make the trip because she couldn’t arrange child care.

A source close to Rodriguez—possibly JLo herself in Damage Control mode—says:

“He and Jennifer are together all the time. Every week the magazines write something ridiculous about their relationship, last week they were getting married, she’s pregnant. It’s laughable.”

Well, together except for that time he was in Kansas City and she was in NYC and he ... ALLEGEDLY ... tried to arrange a booty call.

But this all boils down to one question: why do the men JLo dates, and marries and marries and marries and marries, cheat on her?

Okay, so Katy and Taylor ... the feud continues.

Katy has a new album out and to promote it she is talking incessantly about BackUpDancerGate and the feud it ignited, but Taylor has ... ALLEGEDLY ... been taking the high road and refusing to comment on a fight that started over two years ago and inspired Swifty’s “Bad Blood” and Katy’s “Swish Swish.” 

But secretly, TayTay is seething ... and friends of Swifty say she’s livid and refusing to bury the hatchet:

“That is SO not going to happen. Taylor believes that Katy is using their rivalry for press, just like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian did.”

Cuz Taylor Swift, who never had a personal moment she didn’t turn into a song for coins, is the victim, y’all. But, and this gets dishy, Friends of Taylor also say she is petty and cannot let go of the fight either:

“She has been like this since high school. She is sort of a gaslight bully, playing the victim when in fact she is the one likes making others look bad, instead of having a private conversation with them ... Taylor will never let this go.”

At least not until she’s got an entire concept album about it.

I guess divorce, for some, is a career move.

A few months ago Janet Jackson took to social media to announce her divorce from billionaire Wissam al Mana and now she’s trying to turn the divorce—from which she’s expected to receive about a half billion dollars in settlement—into a TV show.

Yup, Miss Jackson is kinda nasty about the breakup and is said to be planning a docu-series on Netflix ... a “ten-part documentary and will feature recording sessions in the studio, co-parenting her child with Wissam and preparing for the European and Asian legs of her tour. Netflix are [sic] negotiating a big sum for the rights to the show as they expect it to perform well.”

You know, because a half-billion dollars to a rich Jackson is just not even coins and so why not sell yourself, and your third failed marriage to the highest bidder?

Looks like Tracy Morgan won’t talk about that horrific bus crash if there isn’t a paycheck involved ... the former 30 Rock star is refusing to testify under oath in an insurance dispute against Wal-Mart’s multimillion-dollar payout to the comedian over that 2014 truck accident that left him injured and killed Jimmy Mack.

Wal-Mart’s insurer, Ohio Casualty, is demanding Morgan appear for a deposition to prove its claims that he exaggerated his injuries to get the payout, reported to be about $90 million.

And Tracy isn’t talking this time because it might cost him money instead of pad his bank account.

Oh lord ... just say No.

Kanye West is trying to seal a deal with Calabasas High School to design their sports uniforms.

Seriously.

As part of the deal, Kanye would also make a sizable donation to improve school facilities—including major upgrades to the gym which might then be called The Kym? And he also wants to change the name of their sports teams from the Coyotes to the Wolves—which just happens to be the name of one of his songs—and would like to change the school’s colors from black-and-gold to ... flesh?

Does any school, even a school in Calabasas really want to look like this when they take the field?

Even the drama club should stop taking his calls.

Random Musings

I have been watching “I Am Cait” every so often. I try to avoid the more Kardastrophe-like moments when it plays like reality show trash, and focus on the parts where Cait is stepping out of her shell to speak to young trans people and hear of their lives and their struggles. I like that because, as I’ve said before, Trans is the new gay, as it were, and is a huge part of the next phase of our march …

That said, I will spend a moment in shock and surprise at some of the Kardastrophe moments from last week, namely Kim and Khloe.

The episode centered on the weeks after the Vanity Fair piece on Caitlyn was released, and both Kim and Khloe felt that Caitlyn had said some rude things about That Woman, AKA Their Mother. But here’s the rub … and seriously I was shocked.

Kim Kardastrophe was cool calm, rather plain Jane looking, and rational when she aired her grievances with Caitlyn, while Khloe seemed too busy showing up her newly plumped to the point of explosion lips and flipping her newly blond hair.

Having never seen an episode of the Kardastrophes’ show — just a snippet here and there — I’d always assumed Kim was the stupid vain one who only cared about her looks and couldn’t string together a sentence with rope and glue, while Khloe was the intelligent, thoughtful sister.

Wrong. Just sayin’.

Well well well … TLC, the former home of the Duggar brood, has created a documentary about child sexual abuse and has set the date for its airing, August 13.

The one-hour special, Breaking the Silence, comes on the heels of the scandal involving the Duggars and their son Josh, who molested five young girls, including two of his own sisters.

That’s all well and good, but this is where is gets ugly and creepy … among those who will speak out in the documentary are Jill and Jessa Duggar, who previously shared their struggles to cope with the aftermath of being molested by Josh more than a decade ago.

I wonder if the girls were paid for their time, since TLC canceled the Duggars’ show and their one source of income.

And I wonder if anyone in the documentary will question those two girls about their continued support and affection for their molester.

Speaking of child molesters … this week former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle will plead guilty to charges that he possessed child pornography and had sex with at least 14 underage girls.

Now, pleading guilty without so much as a trial makes it appear that the case could have been much worse, because with his plea comes a sentence of 5 to 12 years in federal prison, with it appearing the sentence will lean more toward twelve and not five.

I hope it twelve, fully, and all the way.

So, while we’re on a role with horrible people: In Texas, Hood County Clerk Katie Lang just cost the taxpayers in her county some $44,000.00 because of her “religious freedom.”

Both Lang and Hood County were the subjects of a federal lawsuit filed by Joe Stapleton and Jim Cato after Lang refused to issue the couple a marriage license. The lawsuit was recently settled by Hood County, which will have to pay Stapleton’s and Cato’s legal fees, amounting to $43,872.10.

The county commissioners voted to take this action “to save [Lang] from dealing with the additional expense and significant financial exposure her actions caused the taxpayers of her county.”

I think since it was Katie Lang — and it isn’t lost on me that her name sounds like kd lang — who cost the county so much money for her personal beliefs, she should pay the $44,000.00. Why burden anyone else in the county because of her region-based hatred?

Well, first off, if they’re born here, this is their country, and secondly, there’s a little something called the 14th Amendment to the Constitution that makes all children born or naturalized in this country automatic US citizens.

And, well, let’s move on with more Duggar news … It appears that after the recent hacking of adultery site Ashley Madison, and the release of their clients’ emails and profiles and such, that Gawker has discovered not one but two paid Ashley Madison accounts for child molester and religious icon Josh Duggar.

Here’s the gist: Someone using a credit card belonging to a Joshua J. Duggar, with a billing address that matches the home in Fayetteville, Arkansas owned by his grandmother Mary — a home that was consistently shown on their now-cancelled TV show, and in which Anna Duggar gave birth to her first child — paid a total of $986.76 for two different monthly Ashley Madison subscriptions from February of 2013 until May of 2015.

Uh huh. The good news, I guess, is that Josh Duggar has finally stopped molesting young girls and has moved on to women who aren’t his sisters … or his wife.

Okay, Tracy Morgan had that terrible bus accident, when his tour bus was hit by a Wal-Mart truck. And one of his friends was killed in the accident, and Morgan suffered serious injuries.

Now, though, I wonder how serious, because, a couple of months ago I caught Morgan on film using a walker to walk into a local Post Office in his town, and then mere weeks later, when the suit against Wal-Mart was settled for an undisclosed amount, Morgan goes out bowling for his birthday and announces he’ll host SNL this next season.

That was some recovery … and that’s just my opinion.

The GOP just cannot divest itself of homophobia.

The Republican National Committee has adopted a resolution which calls on Congress to pass the anti-LGBT First Amendment Defense Act in the names of several … get this … martyred anti-gay business owners who have been found guilty of violating public accommodation laws.

Yes, because people were found guilty of discriminating against The Gays, the GOP has doubled down on The Gay Hate. The legislation was introduced in the House by Republican Raúl Labrador of Idaho, and in the Senate by Republican Mike Lee of Utah.

Ellen Barrosse, the RNC Chair of the Conservative Steering Committee, says the resolution is “an attempt, for those of us who are people of faith, to protect religious organizations.”

Um, Ellen, dear? A bakery is not a religious organization, m’kay, so stop playing hate.

Luckily this legislation doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of passing, but it makes it clear that many in the Republican party are still virulently anti-LGBT and will use whatever means and excuses they can find to Hate.

Some Thoughts On Tracy

I've never been a Tracy Morgan fan. I don't know why, I just don't care for him. I never thought him homophobic, and I've never thought him funny. Turns out I was wrong on that first one, and right on the second.

Now, to be fair, I loves me some shock comics. Lisa Lampanelli? Not many more shocking than her, but she's funny because you know it's all about the joke. Some might find her offensive, I find her offensively funny.

But, back to Tracy Morgan. It seems that he recently gave a stand-up performance in Tennessee that was basically a homophobic rant, without any of the humor. I mean, I tell fag jokes at work. If I do something idiotic--and, yes, it's been known to happen--I'll usually utter something like, "Fags are dumb."

But, um, one thing you won't ever hear me say is that I would stab someone if they were gay. Tracy Morgan said that about his own son. He said if his son was gay, he better come home and talk to him like a man or he would pull out a knife and stab that little N_____. 
"Fags are dumb" coming from a raging homosexual is kinda funny. Stabbing your gay son, somehow misses that mark.

He called anti-bullying campaigns a bunch of bull shiz, and said gay people need to stop being pussies and whining about insignificant stuff like being taunted, teased and bullied to the point of suicide. Yeah, I know; not so funny.

Now, back to me, and some funny. After my bout with the shingles, I returned to work with one last pussy-scabby thing on my forehead that I'd covered with a BandAid. When someone asked what happened to my head, I said I was gay bashed by a Girl Scout because I only bought one box of thin mints. That's kinds funny, right. Maybe I should send that one to Tracy.

But his jokes about gay bashing, and bullying, coming on the heels of so many recent suicides of young LGBTQ youth, wasn't just untimely, it was sickening.

Tracy called being gay a choice, because "God" don't make mistakes. Well, he's half-right. God doesn't make mistakes, but I was born this way. And when you start sputtering about god and gay and choosing that "lifestyle" in a state like Tennessee, which is rapidly becoming the seat of homophobia in this country, you've crossed a line.

And the Tracy Morgan apparently ended his little comedy routine with a line about how, if gays can take a dick up their asses, then they can take a fucking joke.

Oh, Tracy, honey, we can take a joke, but you are not funny.
Mean-spirited isn't funny.
Hate isn't funny.
Bullying isn't funny.
Murder isn't funny.
That you should have learned in Comedy 101.

And, now, of course, all sorts of folks are coming out on Tracy's side, and against Tracy.

Openly gay NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt had this to say:
"I speak for NBC and myself personally when I say we do not condone hate or violence of any kind and I am pleased to see Tracy Morgan apologizing for recent homophobic remarks in his standup appearance. We will always recognize an artist's freedom to express him or herself, but not when reckless things are said no matter what the context. Unfortunately, Tracy's comments reflect negatively on both "30 Rock" and NBC - two very all-inclusive and diverse organizations - and we have made it clear to him that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated."

Kind of a weak slap on the wrist to one of the co-stars of a hot show. I kind of think that if Tracy Morgan were on a show that was not doing so well, Greenblatt's reprimand would have been more harsh.

And Chris Rock, initially, defended Tracy Morgan, tweeting:
“I dont know about you, but I dont want to live in world where Tracy Morgan cant say foul inappropriate s—.”

Apparently Chris Rock's supportive Tweet came before he actually knew what Morgan had said because he then changed his stance a little:
"Tracy morgan is a tad off we all know that so when tracy says something i usually don’t take it anymore serious than i would a statement from gary busey or flavor flav. when i first heard the statement i thought it was offensive but it also reminded me of my father saying ill kill you if you ever bring home a white girl but after reading everything tracy said. wow i get it that s— wasn’t called for and i don’t support it at all. now can i please go to the tony awards without getting my ass kicked.”

You can go, Chris, but now maybe you've learned to find out what, and whom, you're supporting, before you open your mouth.

The Human Rights Campaign believes Morgan should do more than just apologize:
"Tracy Morgan exercised extremely poor judgment and he did the right thing by apologizing. But that’s just not enough. He’s a role model and Morgan now has a responsibility to make amends for his horribly hurtful and dangerous ‘comedy’ routine. He also needs to go further than his apology and correct the record: no one should feel ashamed because they are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender and they should definitely not become a victim of violence. Words have consequences and Morgan should be held to a higher standard. Until he does something meaningful, his brand will remain tarnished.”

I'm kind of ambivalent here. I think sometimes an apology is enough. Doesn't mean I forget what he said, and won't be watching to make sure he doesn't go there again, but we need to learn to forgive a little. Not forget, forgive.

CNN's Roland Martin defended Morgan, claiming the comedy routine was just that - a routine:
"Say I’m wrong. Fine. Say I’m insensitive to gays and lesbians. Fine. I’ll wait for the usual bigots to say that I’m defending Tracy Morgan because he’s black. Fine. But think for a moment at all the times you’ve laughed at comedians based on the things they had to say. Then ask yourself: Did I laugh, and why? Sorry, if I’m being honest here and not focusing on political correctness. I just believe that many of you would be shocked and amazed that you laughed hysterically at some of the most sexist, homophobic, racist stuff imaginable by comedians of all shapes, sizes, ethnic backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations."

Oh, Roland, refer back to my comments on Lisa Lampanelli. I can, have, and will continue to, laugh at insensitive, rude, comics, but talking about killing someone, anyone, much less your own son, for being gay isn't funny.

Wanda Sykes, like me, wasn't amused:
"I fault the TN lawmakers. They've created an anti-gay environment. Don't believe Tracy would be so ignorant in LA. I do believe in free speech, but for a youth in TN or any other numerous place, Tracy just yelled, ‘Fire,’ in a crowded theater."

Then Wanda talked to Roland Martin:
"Ro, I love and respect you, so I feel that I can tell you that your column is some bullshit. We can do better. Tracy has the right to say whatever he wants to say, just like we have the right to say, not acceptable. and WE as a country. We used to picnic to watch public hangings, but WE figured out, that was some sick shit."

I think i fall on Team Wanda, and I'll explain in a bit.

GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios had this to say:
"While it is certainly a good thing that Morgan has started to take responsibility for the offensive content of his routine by apologizing publicly to his fans and the gay community, he must do more to balance the harm that his words have inflicted. He could take one profound step to show his sincerity by meeting with parents and young people who have been personally effected by anti-gay violence or family rejection. GLAAD has reached out to Tracy Morgan's publicist and offered to facilitate such a meeting. We implore him to take us up on this."

Again, let the man apologize. Let him take responsibility and let's see how he handles himself in the future before we decide to make him do an Apology Tour. I mean, why don't we just send him around the country, knocking on the door of every single LGBT person in this country and apologize in person?

Openly gay actor, Cheyenne Jackson, who periodically appears on '30 Rock' with Tracy Morgan:
"I am disgusted and appalled by Tracy Morgan's homophobic rant. The devastating repercussions of hate-filled language manifest in very real ways for today's LGBTQ youth. I've known Tracy for two years, spent many long hours with him on set, and I want to believe that this behavior is not at the core of who he is. I'm incredibly disappointed by his actions, and hope that his apology is sincere."

Now, here's an actual gay man with an actual responsible response to Tracy Morgan. No boycott. No firing. Just accept the apology and keep watching Morgan to make sure he meant it.


Tina Fey, Morgan's co-star and boss, didn't think it was funny either:
"The violent imagery of Tracy's rant was disturbing to me at a time when homophobic hate crimes continue to be a life-threatening issue for the GLBT Community. It also doesn't line up with the Tracy Morgan I know, who is not a hateful man and is generally much too sleepy and self-centered to ever hurt another person. I hope for his sake that Tracy's apology will be accepted as sincere by his gay and lesbian co-workers at '30 Rock', without whom Tracy would not have lines to say, clothes to wear, sets to stand on, scene partners to act with, or a printed-out paycheck from accounting to put in his pocket."

I think we ought to listen to the people who know Tracy Morgan before we decide to demand that he be physically removed from our TV screens.

And we should listen to Tracy Morgan himself:
"I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville. I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others. While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.”

Okay, so here's my take.

What do we do now? Do we get out our pink monogrammed stationary out and flood NBC with letters demanding Tracy be fired? Do we stop watching '30 Rock' altogether? Do we boycott and march and shout? Or do we take the high road, take his apology, accept it, move on, and hope  it never happens again?

See, what Tracy Morgan said was Free Speech. Hateful, oh, indeed, But free. Don't forget we live in a country where a church can protest at funerals with signs that say 'God Hates Fags' and 'Fags Must Die'.

It's Free Speech. It's wrong, what he said, but let's hope he learned his lesson, and let's hope that other folks who feel, or at least felt, as Tracy Morgan did, have also learned their lesson.

I've heard people say that this is like the Isaiah Washington incident, where he called one of his fellow actors a 'fag' during an argument. Washington was subsequently let go from his show. But Morgan's rant was different. His was intended....intended....to be funny. Washington's comment was a slur shouted in anger about a co-worker, and made the work environment, with him still there, intolerable. There is a subtle difference.

So, I hope there won't be this big call to fire Tracy Morgan or stop watching '30 Rock'--although I've never seen the show--or boycott NBC. I said before, referring to myself, and maybe some of you, that 'fags are dumb'. I just hope we aren't stupid. And unable to forgive.

I Didn't Say It........

Christina Aguilera, on her Superbowl/National Anthem flub:

"I took in the moment a little bit too much. Shoot me for appreciating the moment but here I am at the Super Bowl...singing for a team and in front of the world. And remembering what it was like to be that young and look where I made it now. {but] that night I knew, I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question...In 2011 what female singer, ya know, flubbed the lyrics. It's just insane. But I have a really good laugh about it and you get over things. You get back up again and you just prove to yourself and to everyone you're that much stronger."

This makes me wonder if she's talking about the 'flub,' or her ALLEGED new fondness for the drink. I mean, I loves me some Christina, but she's looking a little vodka-bloated lately.

Kara DioGuardi, on quitting, or being fired from, 'American Idol':

"I called them after I saw reports about the show and they said now that Ellen is leaving it's put everything up in the air because now we need to replace two people so we don't know what's going on. So I asked if I was fired and they said "no," so I said well last week we were talking about auditions, am I definitely doing the show? And they said, "We can't say that for sure but you're definitely not fired." I thought I'm not going to hang around and wait to see what happens, so I sent them a letter asking them to release me from their contract which they would not do until they sorted it all out. I think the reality is that the panel was not set up until the very end."

Um, Kara, when you ask someone if you are working, and they respond with a "We can't say that for sure...." Honey, you're fired. M'kay?

Rachel Maddow, on coming out, especially for people in the news business:

"I'm sure other people in the business have considered reasons why they're doing what they're doing, but I do think that if you're gay you have a responsibility to come out."

I agree completely.
Staying closeted, for whatever reason, whether you want to protect your privacy, or keep your private life private, or however you phrase it, still smacks of a little self-loathing and shame to me.
Plus, the more people that come out, the more people will come to realize that being gay isn't so different from being straight.
Except for that whole fabulousness part. 


Larry Kramer, on his 'problem' with the younger generation of gay men:

"I don't know why so many gay men don't want to know their history. I don't know why they turned their back on the older generation as if they don't want to have anything to do with them. I would like us to get beyond that....Sometimes when I go to schools, kids say that they're taught to be non-confrontational or non-participatory now, almost like it's not cool to have opinions and express them, which is sad. I hope we're coming out of all that." 

You can't ever know where you're going, if you don't know where you've been, and who fought for you to be right where you are.
We learn about the history of the world, the history of America, we need to know the history of gay people, and how they struggled and fought and lived and died so we could be here today. 


Kelly McGillis, on her public coming out:

"Fundamentally, I was just tired of lying about who I am. I've reached a point where my kids are grown, they're out of the house, they no longer have to be concerned that their friends, their friends’ families, will put them in compromising emotional situations because of my sexual preference. That was a big concern of mine because, unfortunately, a lot of people are not very tolerant. I got to a certain age and I didn’t give a s— anymore." 

This is the shame I was talking about. By staying closeted "for her kids" Kelly McGillis fed into that mythology that being gay is something scary or bad or different.
And do not get me started on her calling being gay her 'preference'.
Just proves that even gay people can say idiotic things.
Which proves we are more like straight people that many straight people think.
Except, again, for that whole fabulousness part. 


Rick Santorum, on denying gay rights, er, privileges:

"They have the right to be able to -- employment. I don't know what you mean by rights. What I'm talking about are privileges. Privileges of marriage, privileges of government benefits is a different thing than basic rights to live their lives as they well should and can as free Americans." 

So, Mister Frothy Mix, things we should be happy with less-than.
See, people like Santorum think of the LGBT community as a 'they,' and he believes that that 'they' shouldn't be treated like the rest of  'us'.
Think again you sanctimonious prig. 


Mel Gibson, on his bad image as a homophobe, anti-Semite, misogynist:

"I’ve never treated anyone badly or in a discriminatory way based on their gender, race, religion or sexuality -- period. I don’t blame some people for thinking that though, from the garbage they heard on those leaked tapes, which have been edited. You have to put it all in the proper context of being in an irrationally, heated discussion at the height of a breakdown, trying to get out of a really unhealthy relationship. It’s one terribly, awful moment in time, said to one person, in the span of one day and doesn’t represent what I truly believe or how I’ve treated people my entire life." 

Yeah, I know he's talking about his taped telephone rants, but, um, Melvin? You delusional fuck?
Do you not remember your anti-Semitic rant when you were arrested for being a boozehound?
Do you not remember calling a female office 'sugar tits'?
