"New Arrangements And Duets" is just a small portion of the vast unreleased material that Van Morrison plans to release in the near future, ensuring it doesn't simply gather dust in the archives. The big band tracks on the album were recorded in 2014, with Paul Moran and Chris White individually selecting the songs they wanted to arrange for a big band. The duets, recorded between 2018 and 2019, feature an impressive lineup of vocalists including Kurt Elling, Curtis Stigers, Joss Stone, and Willie Nelson. The duets with Willie Nelson – "What’s Wrong With This Picture" and "Steal My Heart Away" also highlight the guitar skills of Lukas Nelson, Willie's son.

The first single "Choppin' Wood" showcases Van Morrison’s distinctive vocal style leading a dynamic big band performance. This song pays homage to his late father, with references to Belfast, the Harland & Wolff shipyard, and his father’s love for jazz legends like Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong, and Jelly Roll Morton. The original version of the song appeared on Van Morrison’s 2002 album "Down The Road". /James Daykin, Entertainment Focus

Alfred 'Snuff' Johnson - Black Cowboy Blues And Church Songs

12. The Good Book Told Me (1:53)
13. Going Back To Jesus (2:21)
14. Motherless Children (3:22)
15. Hard Time (3:49)

Black Cowboy Blues and Church Songs is a mixture of songs from both named categories as performed by Alfred "Snuff" Johnson, a Texas bluesman who had been playing for around 70 years at the time of this recording. Accompanying himself with acoustic guitar, Johnson sings no-nonsense recompositions of "Good Morning Blues," "Getting Ready to Go," "Motherless Children," and more in his thick-throated, rich voice. An interesting smattering of unexpected sharps and minors get thrown into the guitar picking, but this can be chalked up more to choice and Johnson's relaxed style (that has, by the way, a Mance Lipscomb-influence of a thumb-strummed bassline) than to lack of ability, as Johnson also pulls off some mean guitar work on other songs, including "Hobo Blues" and "Blue Steel 44." Overall, it's good, low-key, acoustic country blues from a bluesman who, sadly, went unrecorded until the 1990s.

Scott Ebner – piano, organ

Tas Cru (born Rick Bates in Quebec, Canada), is a seasoned musician who has been living in the US for many years. Although he comes from a musical family, Rick himself did not have much to do with music until he was introduced to the blues by an old US Navy buddy and he started playing in his band for a while. Cru developed as a songwriter and started a solo career. In 2006 his debut album Biscuits was released. In 2009 he released the album Even bugs sing the blues , an album with original blues songs for children and in 2016 he recorded the album Doggone blues , a blues album for dog lovers (!). He tours extensively with his band through the US, Canada and Europe.

This month sees the release of Live, the new album by Tas Cru Band. A live album with his current road band with whom he toured in the summer and fall of 2023. Recorded with an audience at Subcat Music Studio in Syracuse, New York. The ten songs form a nice anthology of Tas Cru's repertoire.

After the opening words 'Don't say you will, when you know you won't' the concert opens swinging with Dat maybe, followed by the uptempo stomping gospel blues Stand up! , with a tight guitar solo and backing vocals by Mia Casale. The pace is kept up with Brown liquor woman with a tight rhythm section and a prominent role for Scott Ebner on organ. In Have a drink Casale takes care of the lead vocals. The more than six minutes long Take me back to Tulsa , with lead vocals by Ebner, starts very quietly but rocks a little later with various nice melodious solos. The drumming of Phil Diiorio is also very strong here and that is also in the funky Grizzle n' bone, enhanced with wonderful piano sounds. “I play with the hand that the good Lord has given me”, sings Cru in the funky title song One eyed Jack. The gospel-like You keep the money is again characterized by the tight drumming, a penetrating guitar solo and the harmony vocals of Casale. The organ is prominent in the intensely sung Drunk half the time. The closing number Heal my soul is a swinging gospel blues. The opening is with piano and the almost acapella singing of Mia Casale, but the number continues rocking with a flamboyant piano solo and beautiful duets by Tas and Mia.

Conclusion: Live is an excellent album with raw, honest music from a passionate Tas Cru Band.

Little Sonny Jones - New Orleans Rhythm & Blues

11. I Called You Baby (3:33)

When Black Top reissued Little Sonny Jones' 1975 New Orleans R&B Gems 20 years after the album's initial release, even some true blues fans probably shook their heads and wondered, "Who?" But rest assured: folks in the Crescent City recall Jones with great affection. He was born there and he died there, making some fine music in between.

Born Johnny Jones, the singer picked up his enduring nickname from his pal Fats Domino when they were both playing at the Hideaway Club in the Ninth Ward during the late '40s. Domino hit it big, but Jones' vinyl fortunes weren't as lucky: a 1953 single on Specialty ("Do You Really Love Me"/"Is Everything Allright?") preceded a four-song session for Imperial the next year under Dave Bartholomew's direction (songs included "I Got Fooled" and "Winehead Baby"). All three 45s stiffed, but Fats kept him employed as a warmup act until 1961.

After seven years back home singing with the band of brothers David and Melvin Lastie, Jones retired until his 1975 album (first issued on Black Magic Records overseas). The set accurately re-created the Crescent City R&B sound of the '50s, thanks to Little Sonny Jones' rich singing and the efforts of veterans Dave "Fat Man" Williams on piano and vocals, saxists Clarence Ford and David Lastie, guitarist Justin Adams, bassist Frank Fields, and drummer Robert French. Jones came out to play the annual Jazz & Heritage Festival until his 1989 death of heart failure. /Biography by Bill Dahl, AllMusic

Knock-Out Greg & The Injectors - Jungle Walk EP

1. Jungle Walk (3:25)
2. Nobody Wins (2:45)
3. Blue Monday (3:50)
4. The Dummy (3:27)

Born in 1968, Greger "Knock-Out Greg" Andersson first heard the blues at age 15 when legendary Swedish blues singer Sven Zetterberg showed up at Greg's local school in rural town Gnesta, Sweden as part of a blues in the school's program. It was a mind-blowing experience and from that day on Greg devoted his life trying to master the artform of playing blues and roots-oriented music.

Starting out as a guitar player, he formed his first group in 1985 together with his younger brother Marcus on drums and the rest is history. The two brothers have been touring the world with different band constellations up until this day and have played well over 2.000 shows together. At age 19, Greg also started playing harmonica and was soon on a journey to mastering the instrument wich was to become his main weapon of choice, inspired by legends like Little Walter, Big Walter Horton, Sonny boy Williamson and George Smith. Among contemporary harmonica players, Gary Primich and Kim Wilson have been great inspirations to Greg's playing. The following years he spent most of his free time practicing on that mysterious little instrument, and today he ranks as one of the top players in Europe.

The first full length album under Greg's name was released in 1994 as Knock-Out Greg & Blue Weather on Last Buzz Records. The debut was followed up by four more albums on that same label. Two more records were cut with the Blue Weather constellation before they decided to part ways in the early 2000s - one on Finnish label Goofin' Records, and one on Norwegian label Blue Mood Records - and the group made seven records in total. Two more albums by Knock-Out Greg have seen the light of day, one by Knock-Out Greg & the Injectors in 2015 and one by Knock-Out Greg & the Jukes in 2019.

Since 2020 Greg's been touring and recording with his main group called Knock-Out Greg & the Blue Flames, a five piece unit consisting of brother Marcus Andersson on drums, Fredrik von Werder on keyboards, Tomi Leino on guitar and different bass players like Jonas Göransson, Tommy Cassemar, Gunnar Muwemba, Jaska Prepula among others. You can also find him fronting a smaller gritty sounding constellation by the name of Knock-Out Greg Low Down Trio with Björn Viitanen on drums and Tomi Leino on guitar. Greg is also performing regularly with Eric Bibb and Big Band Splash to mention a few, as well as being backed up by local musicians at clubs and festivals all over the world.

Personnel: Greger "Knock-Out Greg" Andersson (vocals, guitar); Thomas Hammarlund (guitar); Jonas Göransson (bass); Marcus Andersson (drums); Christian Herluf Pedersen (tenor saxophone); Jakob Norgren (baritone saxophone).

After nearly eight years, Little Steve & the Big Beat are back with 'Circles', an album that delves deeper both musically and thematically than ever before. The highly anticipated follow-up to ‘Another Man’ (2016) builds on the success of their previous work, which was praised by critics and fans alike. "On our new album, I've focused more on writing from my own experiences; my life and emotions are embedded in every track," explains singer/guitarist Steven van der Nat. And although he had never previously written with a political message, he felt compelled to do so this time. The title track, 'Circles', addresses how humanity's short-sighted focus on self-interest is slowly destroying both ourselves and the planet. "It deeply affects me how we neglect the planet and ourselves. I felt I had to express this in the title track."

The 11 new tracks on the album are all original, with 10 songs written by Steven van der Nat (Little Steve) himself, and one instrumental track by saxophonist Martijn van Toor. The album is marked by the infectious Little Steve & the Big Beat sound — a unique blend of blues and rhythm & blues with a contemporary twist. Each track on 'Circles' offers its own distinct atmosphere, creating a diverse musical journey. The alternation between slow blues and energetic rhythm & blues keeps the listener engaged, highlighting the versatility of Little Steve & the Big Beat. The band collaborated with several guest musicians on 'Circles'; the backing vocals of American singer Kat Riggins can be heard on 'Only Got Eyes For You,' Pascal Haverkate plays trumpet on the title track ‘Circles,’ and Bas Janssen contributes keyboards on '99 LBS,' 'The Shame Is On You,' and 'Tired Of Moaning.'

The album was recorded at Tub Thumper Records, a barn in bassist Bird Stevens' backyard, transformed into a recording studio filled with vintage recording equipment and microphones. The warm, spacious, analog sound is evident throughout the album, without sounding outdated. The combination of modern production and vintage gear has resulted in a sound that is both fresh and timeless. Steven and Bird produced the album themselves, with mastering done by Wessel Oltheten (DeWolff, Michael Jackson, among others). Over the past 10 years, Little Steve & the Big Beat have built an excellent live reputation, performing at venues such as Moulin Blues, Blues Peer (BE), Zwarte Cross, North Sea Jazz Club, Nuit Du Blues (FR), Malta Blues Festival (MT), Breda Jazz Festival, Blues in Grolloo, among others. During this time, the band has received nominations from the Dutch Blues Awards for “Best Band,” “Best Vocalist,” and “Best Drummer.”

Personnel: Little Steve (guitar, vocals); Bird Stevens (bass); Jody van Ooijen (drums); Martijn van Toor (tenor saxophone); Evert Hoedt (baritone saxophone). Guest musicians: Kat Riggins (backing vocals track 9); Pascal Haverkate (trumpet track 5); Bas Janssen (keyboards track 1,2,8).

Alexis Korner was a British blues musician and radio broadcaster. He had travelled with his parents through Switzerland and North Africa before settling in London as a 12 year-old. He grew up listening to the early blues pioneers and his music career as a guitarist and singer really began with engagements in Ken Colyer and Chris Barber bands. In 1956, Korner met Cyril Davies with whom he founded the famed blues club in Ealing and the band Blues Incorporated. Their aim was to play 'real' and uncompromising blues (probably the first 'electric British blues' bands) becoming a platform for the careers of Mick Jagger, Brian Jones (5), Jack Bruce, Charlie Watts, and many others. Davis left in 1963 and Blues Incorporated disbanded in 1967. The following years saw Korner in many bands, most of them short-lived: Free At Last (2), New Church and Snape. From the late 1960s Korner toured, often as Duo (6) - for instance with Peter Thorup, but mostly with bassist Colin Hodgkinson. By the late 1970s, Korner gained recognition as a radio DJ and broadcaster, continuing to record sporadically with bands such as CCS and Snape. His 50th birthday all-star concert was released as The Party Album. In 1981, he joined the "supergroup" Rocket 88, led by Ian Stewart and based on boogie-woogie keyboard players, which featured a rhythm section comprising Jack Bruce and Charlie Watts, among others, as well as a horn section. Korner died from lung cancer in 1984.

English band founded in the 1960's by Colin Cooper. Originally known as The Climax Chicago Blues Band, the Climax Blues Band has always focused on its roots, a unique combination of jazz and blues. The band has released 21 albums and had a Top 10 hit in the UK with Couldn't Get It Right. That song and I Love You were also hits in the United States ; Couldn't Get It Right reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1977, and "I Love You" peaked at No. 12 in 1981 In 1985, Cooper and Glover recruited guitarist Lester Hunt, drummer Roy Adams, and original member Derek Holt to record the Climax Blues Band album Drastic Steps, and this line-up toured in support of the album in the UK, Europe and America. The new line-up soon became established with Cooper, Glover, Hunt, Adams and Neil Simpson in the early 1990s, releasing the live album Blues From The Attic in 1993 and Big Blues in 2004. Cooper died of cancer, aged 69, in July 2008. He is survived by his wife and two children. He wanted the band to continue, as the other musicians had all been long serving (Glover since 1980, Adams and Hunt since 1985, and Simpson since 1991). Cooper was replaced by singer and saxophone and harmonica player Johnny Pugh, who retired in 2012, and was replaced in turn by vocalist Graham Dee and saxophone player Chris Aldridge. In 2019, Climax Blues Band released Hands Of Time, a new album of original bluesy funk, soul and jazz rock material that has received rave reviews. The current line-up includes: George Glover, Lester Hunt, Graham Dee, Chris Aldridge, Neil Simpson and Roy Adams

Born and raised in Osilo, in Italy's Sardinia region, Piu began learning the guitar when he was nine years old thanks to his father, who was a bassist. As an adult, he began playing with various rock-blues groups, and in 2003, he won the Blues for Sardinia contest at the Narcao Blues Festival with his first official group, Blujuice. The following year, he was the opening act for John Mayall at the festival and took up a solo career as a one-man band, playing the acoustic guitar, resonator guitar, banjo, weissenborn, washboard and harmonica. His first musical repertoire featured acoustic covers of blues classics, as well as blues reinterpretations of rock classics by artists such as Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix. His covers also included elements of soul, funk and rock. In 2007, he released his first album, Blues Journey, for the Groove Company. After the album came out, he participated in various Italian blues festivals, performing with Guy Davis, Roy Rogers, Kevin Welch, Andy J. Forest, Bob Stroger, Eugenio Finardi, Watermelon Slim and Eric Bibb. He was the opening act for Johnny Winter, Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa, Charlie Musselwhite, Sonny Landreth, The Derek Trucks Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Brent Mason, The Holmes Brothers, Junior Watson, John Németh and Otis Grand. That same year, he joined a group led by Davide Van de Sfroos, performing live and contributing to the album Yanez. In 2008, Piu won an award at the Out of the Blue Festival in Samedan, Switzerland. The following year, he won an award at the Delta Blues Festival in Rovigo, Italy, in partnership with the International Blues Challenge held in Memphis, Tennessee. In November 2009, he performed with Australian musician Tommy Emmanuel at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in Sardinia. In 2010, he released Live at Amigdala Theatre, an album recorded at the Amigdala Theatre in Trezzo sull'Adda, featuring Pablo Leoni on drums and Davide Speranza on harmonica. He also performed at various national and international festivals, including the Pistoia Blues Festival in Italy (where he was the opening act for Jimmie Vaughan and Robert Cray); the Black and Blue Festival in Montreal (opening for Larry Carlton); the Magic Blues Festival in Switzerland; the Santa Blues Festival in Tenerife (playing guitar for the American singer Sandra Hall); and the Blues Au Chateau Festival in France. In 2011, he went on a theatrical tour as the opening act for the Treves Blues Band. That November, he won the Premio Maria Carta award. In 2012, he released his second studio album, Ma-Moo Tones, produced by Eric Bibb. The album was named one of the "Best 10 Records of the Year" by the magazine Buscadero, and Piu began a long tour that included shows in Canada (where he performed at the famous El Mocambo), France (where he played at the Cognac Blues Passions Festival), Spain, the United Kingdom, Norway, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Germany (where he opened for Albert Lee). In 2014, Piu released Live at Bloom, in which he used a hybrid guitar with two bass strings, called the Reani guitarbass. Also, that year, the Italian Blues River Festival gave him the Gianni Mangione Blues Award. In January 2015, he started his first American tour. He performed in Mississippi (Club Ebony in Indianola, Ground Zero, the Shack Up Inn, and Red's Juke Joint in Clarksdale), Tennessee (the Center for Southern Folklore), and California (House of Blues in Los Angeles and Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco), and recorded at Sun Studio in Memphis.

Before rock, there was rockabilly, blues, rhythm n’ blues and country. The Detonators, through their original songs, reinvent the styles that made the mid to late 50s such a vital time in music’s history. Their inimitable sound is infused with the driving energy inherent in the music of their heroes - Chuck Berry, Little Walter and Hound Dog Taylor. Formed in mid ‘97, and Melbourne based, original roots rockers The Detonators have released four albums. Enhancing their live performance reputation by aggressive touring, they have played Australia from coast to coast, and are now conquering overseas markets also. Multi award winning ‘The Dets’ have quickly earned a deserved reputation, as one of Australia’s most exciting, hard working, rockin' roots bands.

Their new release - “Top Night Out” - has a heavier, more rocking sound than their previous albums, while managing to stay true to their blues, rock ‘n’ roll sensibilities. Their ability to produce a distinctly Australian sound while staying within both their genre and sound, is testament to the strength of their song writing and musicianship on this album.

Personnel: Rockbottom James Moloney (vocals, harmonica), Paulie “The Kid” Bignell (guitar), Eddie Fury (drums) and Doghouse Dave Philpots (double bass).

King Bee & The Stingers formed in 2006 under the leadership of harmonica player and vocalist Mark "King Bee" Menefee. The band attracted a strong following across Indiana and the Midwest, playing classic, gritty roadhouse blues. In 2015, Mark's daughter Sarah Menefee took over as lead vocalist and has been a rising star ever since. King Bee & The Stingers are 2018, 2019, and 2023 semifinalists in The Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.

The band started writing more original music as it also added more soul, funk and pop to an extensive blues catalog. In 2020, Mark Menefee became the band manager, ceding harmonica duties to veteran harp player Mark Carnes. Keyboardist Wes Schrimsher joined in 2021, and guitarist Matt Boat joined in 2022.

I started music playin' a tennis racket and a Suzie Quatro LP.. I grew up loving the Beatles, Genesis, the Police, the Pretenders .. When I saw U2 live on stage with B.B.King in the early 90s, I acknowledged all my preferences tied up to one mean : the blues! I bought "Sally", my first Fender Telecaster by a "stornelli" player downtown , I put together a rock'n'roll band and rised from ranks in clubs , between Rome, London and Los Angeles . I loved California and my only plan to get what I wanted.. but what I needed got me! The L.A. sessions gave me chance to meet loads of musicians , glamourous to unknown; I worked with ex Ikettes Carol Basley with the "L.Knight Blowin Smoke Revue" , "Larry Johnson Blues Band" and played places like S.Monica Harvelle's, House of Blues, B.B.King's blues club, Venice Bistro … Back in Italy I got the recognition I deserved playing clubs like Big Mama, Home of the Blues in Rome, where I had sessions with partenopean band Blues Staff , actual big record selling artists Alex Britti, the italian Blues pioneer Roberto Ciotti, , Andy J. Forest, Lousiana Red.. Mediaset network enrolled me in the new female big band for big-share TV shows and I performed in "Vintage in Italy" program too, where I'm invited for Dobro and the slide guitar playing. In the summer of 98 I'm contacted by Belgrade Italian Culture Institute for a fortnight tour in the ex-Jugoslavia with bluesman Boki Skipic band Dirty Fingers, and, still a must of my career , opening for Jeff Healey and David Crosby at Pistoia Blues Festival. In 1998 TICKET 2 RIDE is released, first live cd where I sing anything from James Taylor to the "Ironia della sorte", my version of A. Morissette hit "Ironic". JANIS JOLPIN TRIBUTE BAND began in the new millenium and setting the backline I join forces with the best blues musicians in Rome. It 's magic how ,with their help, I let myself go deep down to the spirit of one of my truest heroins. We played national festivals like: "Welcome blues", Trieste , "Aventino Blues Festival", Abruzzo "Poggio Murella Blues" , Toscany, "Maggio Rock", Basilicata, "Millenium", E.Romagna, "Macchia Blues", Campania,(opening for Rory Block), "Roma incontra il mondo", (Villa Ada). Part of this tour we backed up Mississipi bluesman Luoisiana Red, so me, the "little Bonnie Raitt" (as he enjoys calling me), had the chance to learn more blues roots . The experience I had with Red inspired me the opening song in my new cd , "Teaching while I learn" . Meanwhile I wrote music for Fazi Ed. cult fiction writer Rocco Fortunato promotional shows and realised the cd HANDMADE together with the book. The live cd "Janis Joplin Lives on" is a success broadcasting RadioRock and in the summer 2001 we're on tour in Switzerland and Europe for "Flower Power Festival". In September we are booked at The Hard Rock Cafè of Rome, until Christmas. "Blues Dues" is realesed may 2002, the best of Big mama sessions through the year ;13 songs, originals and classics, throughout "the only bluesgirl in town" double senses and apparent contraddiction, try to tell a different story breaking and adjusting blues and schedules. 2002 Summer tour includes "Soul Jazz Taranto Blues" (with italian jazz stars Franco Cerri, Gegè Telesforo), "Trasimeno Blues Festival", "Imola in Musica", "Naima Blues Festival", "Salerno Blues" openin' for Taji Mahal. In December I make my two weeks sold out theatre debut at historical "Sala Umberto" of Rome for Giffoni and S. Francisco N.I.C.E prizes winner, director also starring , Francesco Apolloni play, "Io senza gli altri" ("Me without others" n.d.r.), performing original italian songs harmonized to the actor monologues.

Zoe Schwarz is an experienced and highly competent jazz and blues vocalist based in Poole, Dorset. With her husband and guitarist Rob Koral she fronts the all star quintet to be heard on this 2011 33 Records release, an album that concentrates primarily on the couple’s blues leanings with the help of pianist Gareth Williams, bassist Steve Thompson and drummer Paul Robinson. It’s a stellar UK line up and the singing and playing is excellent throughout.

Although now based well away from the hurly burly of London, Schwarz and Koral are musicians with national reputations and perform all over the country at jazz clubs and festivals with the emphasis now on the South West, often as a duo. Gareth Williams is a fiery piano soloist and a band-leader in his own right and Paul Robinson, once of Jeff Clyne’s Turning Point and now of the re-activated Back Door also spent many years as drummer of choice for the great Nina Simone. Bassist Steve Thompson, although perhaps less well known has played with many jazz and blues luminaries making him the ideal choice for this project. He forms a swinging and reliable rhythm section with the excellent Robinson.

In Schwarz’s words “the idea of Blue Commotion was to lean on the blues side of jazz” with the instrumentation and personnel chosen to retain a jazz sensibility and feel as the quintet explore the blues classics of Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Leroy Carr and others. There are a clutch of original songs in the blues idiom plus Schwarz’s interpretation of “Stormy Blues” by Billie Holiday, the singer who inspired her in the first place.

“Blue Commotion” is a classy and sophisticated piece of work that benefits from a typically polished 33 Records production. There’s nothing strikingly original here but everybody plays and sings great and every one of these experienced professionals sounds as if they’re having a good time. Blue Commotion is now a band as well as an album and the quintet will be taking to the road later in 2012. /Ian Mann, The Jazz Mann

Reno Jones is a busy Southern California R&B and blues band performing primarily in the southwest. Award winners at the Monterey Blues Festival, headliners at B.B. King’s, Bluesapalooza, and The National Orange Show. Reno Jones is a regular at The Blue Café (home of the Southern California blues revival), at city concerts, fairs, blues festivals, and charitable events. A favorite of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy for which they have opened at The Starlight Bowl and The House of Blues, Sunset and Anaheim.

They bring a fresh twist and humorous social commentary to exciting, original music that draws on traditional influences from among their favorites: Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Susan Tedeschi, Chicago, Tower of Power, and Albert Collins. They also have an impressive repertoire of cover tunes played so originally they become new and exciting experiences while keeping faith with the writer’s intent.

Jack started playing guitar at 18, while attending the University of Southern Maine. He would later earn his Bachelor's Degree in Media Studies with a concentration in writing, but his primary focus was developing his musical and performance skills. While at USM, Jack also spent time in theater and became a collegiate award winning actor (Irene Ryan nomination for portrayal of Puck in "A Midsummer Night's Dream") and playwright (production of original One-Act "Heavenly Match"). After quickly establishing a unique lead style, adding Americana and blues voicings to modern melodic music, Jack joined Boston jam/acoustic band Tables Up, and performed with them at festivals, clubs and colleges throughout New England. For the next several years, Jack played stints in original bands The Common Senses, Jacks & Aces, and The Juice, before deciding to pursue his own music solo. Jack continued to play with other bands and also began studio session work with pop, blues and jazz singers, including work with producer Kenny Lewis of Mixed Emotions (formerly a producer and road manager of Stryper). Jack also studied audio production, and honed his skills working as a recording engineer at Tune Town Music Studios. This time was also personally significant as Jack got married and started a family. In 2013 he had his first big break: while taking a hiatus from live performances to focus on studio work, Jack entered Guitar Center's Blues Masters competition featuring Joe Bonamassa. Out of over 2500 entries, he was hand selected by Bonamassa as one of the top 10 undiscovered blues guitarists in America, and was flown out to Los Angeles California to perform with Joe and his band at the legendary blues club, The Mint Theater. Later on in that same year, Jack's guitar interpretation of The Beach Boys previously unreleased track "Going To The Beach" became a top 10 winner in an international contest. In 2018, Jack released his self engineered album "Shoreline," followed by his self named album “Jack Fossett.” Currently Jack continues to record his original music and performs with Jack Fossett & Friends. He lives with his wife Shannon and 6 children in Maine. Jack also surfs, paints, writes plays, practices martial arts as a second degree black belt, helps with his father's book business and cooks gourmet family cuisine.

Zora was born in West Point, Mississippi and raised in Chicago where she grew up singing gospel music in a south side church. After years in the R&B “chittlin circuit”, she switched to blues and since then has shared the stage with B.B. and Albert King, played the Chicago Blues Festival many times and tours Europe regularly. Zora’s voice ranges from a melancholy whisper to a rock ‘n’ roll scream, and she will have you in her corner with one listen. Remarkably, another live album, after the recording Back To The Spirit of 66 that she also released on her own label last year. There is no song on Into The Blue that was also on Back To The Spirit. It was one of the concerts she gave during her European Into The Blue tour. Layla divided her concert into two parts, the first part with her own songs, the second with covers of songs that inspired her. During this performance, her band consisted of Krissy Matthews on guitar, Felix Dehmel on drums and Josh Rigal on bass and backing vocals.

Renée Geyer - Blues License

Renée Geyer was Australia's most respected and successful soul singer, with a recording career of nearly 30 years. Her career began around 1971 in Sydney, when a girlfriend took her along to the rehearsal of friends who were forming a band. Geyer was encouraged to get up and have a sing and was instantly invited to join. Although she was so shy in the beginning she couldn't face the audience, musicians noticed her, and Geyer was invited to join one more-experienced band after another until 1971, when she became part of an ambitious jazz fusion group called Sun. She was still just 19.

After one album (Sun '72), Sun and Geyer parted company; Geyer eventually found herself part of a group called Mother Earth, still with jazz leanings but also incorporating the soul and R&B Geyer loved and excelled at. With Mother Earth, she started touring and was offered a solo recording contract. She insisted that Mother Earth provide the backings on her first album. For her second album, the cream of Melbourne musicians were assembled for the sessions. The singer formed such a strong bond with these musicians that by the time the It's a Man's World album was released and her powerfully provocative version of the James Brown title song was a big hit, Geyer was ready to throw her lot in with them rather than be a solo performer.

Apart from the single "Heading in the Right Direction," her two solo albums so far had been cover versions or sourced songs. The Renée Geyer Band wrote original material for 1975's Ready to Deal album in the studio and toured extensively. A live album, Really Really Love You, followed, based on Geyer's building reputation as a powerfully voiced, provocative performer. That reputation found its way to America and led to an invitation to record an album in Los Angeles with famed Motown producer Frank Wilson. While the Movin' Along album provided another hit at home, Stares and Whispers created confusion in America. R&B stations loved the record but didn't know what to do when they discovered Geyer was a white Jewish girl from Australia. For the next few years, Geyer bounced between Australia and America, working Down Under and recording two more albums in the U.S.

When 1981's So Lucky album presented her with a huge hit, "Say I Love You," in both Australia and New Zealand, it became necessary to put the American dream aside for two years. In 1983, Geyer returned to base herself in America permanently, still keeping in touch with her Australasian fans with tours. While in the U.S., Geyer became part of a group called Easy Pieces with former members of the Average White Band. But the album took so long to record, by the time it was finished, the group had never performed and were going their separate ways. Geyer spent several years doing session work for Sting (the fade vocal on "We'll Be Together"), Neil Diamond, Jackson Browne, and others, touring with the likes of Joe Cocker and Chaka Khan, and writing songs.

During one foray back to Australia, Geyer was invited to sing the Paul Kelly song "Foggy Highway" for the soundtrack of a TV series based on the seven deadly sins. Kelly was so impressed by her version, he offered to produce an album (1994's Difficult Woman) and wrote some of the songs, including the title track, which - alongside "It's a Man's Man's World" - became a signature song for Geyer. The working relationship with Paul Kelly was such a happy and satisfying one, Geyer decided to mover her base back in Australia. With Paul Kelly and Joe Camilleri (Jo Jo Zep, Black Sorrows) producing, she then recorded 1999's Sweet Life album.

At the end of 1999, Geyer published her frank life story, Confessions of a Difficult Woman, through Harper Collins. Renée Geyer died on January 17, 2022 in Melbourne after being diagnosed with lung cancer; she was 69 years of age. /Biography by Ed Nimmervoll, AllMusic
