"Hoohahs and Catcalls" is a 2023 collaborative album by Odin and Bjørn Berge, blending experimental blues, pop, and urban influences into a raw, self-taught sound. Released on February 24, 2023 via TBC Records, it explores themes of masculinity, togetherness, and the “toxic and most animated” parts of it.

The project is a joint effort between two self-taught artists — Odin (producer, arranger, lead vocals, guitar, piano, drums, synth, art direction) and Bjørn Berge (music, acoustic/electric guitar, lead vocals, dobro, photography, artwork). The album’s title and tone reflect a mix of playful, confrontational, and introspective energy.

Bjørn Berge takes the Blues and Rock to the next level! He performs with and without band. You wouldn't notice the difference. The man is a band on his own. Maybe thats why 'they' call him the 'string-machine'. Even the drumming is taken care off in a 'sole-man-performance'. Just a kick of a heavy, worn out boot on a wooden box for basedrum for example. His fingers play like he sold his soul to ,…. (Fill it in yourself) His voice speaks for itself. Blues to the utmost ground!

Bjørn Berge - Who Else?

Time: 32:44
Size: 75,8 MB
Styles: Blues-rock, rock
Scans: Full

1. Monkey Ship (3:33)
2. Lost Pearl (4:03)
3. Mr. Bones (3:27)
4. It Just Ain't So (3:16)
5. Bitter Sweet (4:10)

8. Ginger Brandy Wine (3:43)
9. The Sun's Going Down (3:04)

It’s definitely possible to be born in the land of the fjords and make your mark on the blues. Bjørn Berge has done so for many years, both in his home country Norway and abroad. After a hiatus of 6 years he finally releases his new studio-album “Who Else?”. Winner of two Norwegian Grammy Awards, Bjørn started the recording though as early as 2014, with the intention of releasing the album the same year. It started out like an acoustic record and it all was going according to plan. But during this time, he got asked to join the very popular Norwegian band Vamp who was going on tour, and Bjørn decided to put his solo album on hold and wait until Vamp had a break. That took a while.

“When it got decided that Vamp was going to slow things down in 2019, I desired to write some new songs and record everything all over again - and this time with a band”, Bjørn explains. “All the songs are written by me, and the lyrics are written by Ellis Del Sol, an American living in Norway. For me, this album is everything from blues and rock to Americana and even country. It’s about love, driving, drunkenness and craziness”.

We’re used to see and hear Bjørn Berge simply armed with his guitar and his stomping right foot. However, on this new album he takes us in new directions too. For many years Bjorn’s audience have experienced what you can call ‘World Championship in quick and rough guitar playing’, both on record and live. Now he feels that it´s time to give some groove to the people. On “Who Else?” he’s accompanied by an exceptional band, which brings a new dimension to his music; more feel, more tranquillity, more groove and more emphasis on Bjørn’s excellent guitar playing abilities.

Besides being one of the greatest European blues men, he is a true musical phenomenon. Bjørn can deliver it on the jazz stages, scrunches rock ‘n roll-wannabees and surely is simply one of the greatest guitarists in the world. Bjørn Berge is a well-known name for almost 20 years, he has a voice like gravel and broken glass, and those who have seen this man on stage rate him highly as a true performer and virtuoso of the twelve-string guitar. Luckily enough the ‘guitar express from the North’ has delivered a new dynamic and energetic album where he puts this all on show again. With him, the blues seems to have no limits!

Bjørn Berge - 2 albums: Fretwork / Blackwood

[4:51] 11. You're So Fine
[4:02] 12. Paris

Who would have thought the Man from the North was a highly sensitive soul ? This is the major revelation from the Norwegian bluesman¹s 10th album. Throughout Fretwork, Bjørn Berge reveals a hidden side of his artistic personality that is both intimate and mature. Whereas his guitar remains as quick and forceful as ever, this highly personal set (most of the songs here bear his signature) provides his fans with a fine mix of folk ballads and strong blues tunes. Fretwork was produced by Bjørn Berge and Kjetil Ulland, with additional help from two Berge compatriots, Oyvind Staveland (violin and alto) and Vidar Johnsen (vocals). The combination of Bjørn¹s playing and Oyvin¹s violin gives some of the compositions on this album an atmospheric feel that will alter lastingly our perception of the Viking guitarist.

Bjørn Berge is a true virtuoso. Those who’ve seen him live can testify to the man’s astounding mastery of the 12-string guitar, to the bewildering fluency of his slide work. A mix between a steam train at full speed and a four-piece band. “Back Wood” gives proof that blues, heavy metal and country music share roots that have spawned tasty fruits in the North as well as the South!

Of her previous albums Engedalen has won the Norwegian Grammy award for the album “Heaven Ain’t Ready For Me Yet” and she was also nominated for a Grammy for her last album, "The Tree Still Standing". Rita Engedalen has built a large audience through an impressive series of festival appearances and touring at home and abroad. So it is with good reason that she is often referred to as Norway’s Queen of the Blues. The brand new album Chapels And Bars consists mainly of newly written original material and was released in connection with the Notodden Blues Festival in early August 2011.

Musical guests on the album include names such as Bjørn Berge, Tuva L. Syvertsen (Valkyrien Allstars), Knut Hem (Hem Strengelag, Reidar Larsen) and Margit Bakken (Women In Blues) and the Swedish blues champion Sven Zetterberg. Stringmachine Bjørn Berge also contributes to the album with great guitar playing and his powerful singing on the title song "Chapels And Bars". It was a dream come true when Engedalen traveled to Mississippi and recorded the song “Holy Land” with Coahoma Community College Choir. All these wonderful guest appearences contributes to make Chapels And Bars Rita Engedalen’s most varied and consistent album release to date.

In 2010 Rita Engedalen was awarded the prestigious honor Notodden Blues Festival Blues Award. In the same year, Rita also received the prestigious “Gammleng Prize” awarded by the Fund for Performing Artists in Norway.
