Originally released in 1997 on their own Wang Recording label, The Nightporters' debut album "Feelin' Good" caused a sensation on the continent. Within months of its release, The Nightporters were headlining festivals throughout Europe. The album was one of the top selling blues CDs of the year. The general consensus was that here at last was a great British R&B outfit in the fine tradition of fine bands such as The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones and Dr. Feelgood, and not only that, but a band that could swing and rock out to rival any contemporary American act.

The Nightporters recorded the "Feelin' Good" album at the legendary Sawmills Studio in Cornwall. This was the studio where British band Oasis had recorded their debut CD. The band played mostly live in the studio and the eight tracks here were recorded and mixed in four days flat. From the opening swagger of "Mellow Down Easy", through the seven and a half minute tour de force that is "Hip Shake", the album never lets up, capturing all the explosive energy and excitement of one of The Nightporters' live shows. The closing track, a reworking of Robert Johnson's "Love In Vain" shows the band in tremendous form. /Album liner notes

The Nightporters formed as a group in 1993 and have continued with the same stable line-up to the present day. Their home base is South Devon in the South West of England - a tourist based region with no particular music scene or musical heritage. Isolated from the mainstream Blues scene of London and other British cities, The Nightporters have gradually developed a unique sound all of their own.

All four members of the band have a mutual interest in blues, 1950s Americana and British R&B. Like most British kids of the same age, they had grown up listening to Ska / Two-Tone, the early 80s Rockabilly stuff and good time Punk Rock! This, naturally, has had some bearing on their chosen musical direction. The Nightporters rapidly became a popular attraction in the pubs and clubs of the South West but national recognition grew following a showcase appearance at The Great British RnB Festival, Colne, Lancashire in 1996. In 1997, The Nightporters recorded their first radio session for the Paul Jones Blues Show on Radio 2. Their electrifying stage performances were now the talk of the British blues scene.

Their first CD "Feelin' Good" was recorded in just four days at Sawmills Studio, Cornwall. This "retro" style studio had become very popular with a younger generation of British guitar bands. Oasis, Stone Roses and Supergrass had all recorded there, to name but a few. An eight track album of non-originals, "Feelin' Good" was released on the Wang label in the summer of 1997. By now, the band had given up their day jobs. Europe beckoned when "Feelin' Good" became a surprise top selling Blues CD in Belgium. During 1998, The Nightporters toured constantly. They were now a headline act at many European Festivals.

In 1999, The Nightporters signed a long term world-wide album deal with Indigo Records, thereby securing their position as one of the UK's premier Blues acts. The "Rollercoaster" CD was released on 20th September 1999 to critical acclaim. It was recorded at Applestone Studios, Torquay, Devon between January and March of that year. The CD contains thirteen tracks, six of which are original compositions. Special guests on the album were Ben Waters, who played piano on three tracks and Johnny Dyke, who played Hammond B3 organ.
