IRREVERENT DISSIDENT finds JJ Vicars re-familiarizing himself with the roads and music he grew up on. The album flows with the ease and experience of a man who has been on a long journey and come home. Despite the gain of some age and wisdom J.J. sounds as fresh and hungry as ever. This great new album has the feel of a man who has returned home. The tracks flow with a comfort and consistency that can only be acquired by enduring those detours and strange turns. Here we find J.J. Vicars comfortable, relaxed, but not without that search and hunger that has always fueled his work.

J.J. Vicars is a walking Blues and Rock 'n' Roll encyclopedia, paying homage to Johnny Winter, Alvin Lee, and Rory Gallagher, but preserving an authentic Texas bred individuality that gives him a voice all his own. Elements of country, rockabilly, and swing meld in tunes like "What Do I Tell My Heart" and his version of "Outskirts of Town". His performances are always fun and full of energy.
