Beaucoup Blue, Adrian and David Mowry have seen more than a fair share of superb talent join their roster over the years, but no matter who or how many, the essence of Beaucoup Blue is only two players, father and son. Their sets, which simply consist of two people, two microphones, and two unplugged guitars, carry the weight of great numbers. This is a massive, encompassing, and emotionally transcendent folk-blues. It is quite simply mystifying to experience the "less is more" principle at play so distinctly. Some nights, hardly audible beneath the drumming applause, a version of "Mystery Train" can be heard, colossal but weightless as a heavenly chariot. In those moments it is hard to imagine the blues needing or wanting anything more than these two, who know how to tell a story, and create a roomful of thunder by kicking the baseboards in time.
