Multiple award-winner AJ PLUG is an absolute star from the Dutch roots scene. Singer AJ Plug (Alexandra Jolanda) is seen as one of the most impressive 'ladies' that the Dutch blues rock soul Americana and roots scene has produced in recent years. The influential ambassador of blues, Americana and roots music makes no secret of his admiration for AJ Plug. In addition to the performances of her own band, AJ Plug also toured in Johan Derksen's theater show, 'The sound of the Blues & Americana', which was shown in almost all theaters in the Netherlands. After releasing her debut album 'Let Go Or Be Dragged' (2014), her career took off like a rocket. In October 2016 she released her second album 'Chew Chew Chew', which was once again 'praised to the skies'. The career of the singer from Katwijk aan Zee is taking off and the second CD of the tough blonde is also receiving rave reviews. For example, Music Maker wrote: “She wrote all twelve songs on the album herself and they are all top-notch. If only because she masters various styles. Then it rocks again, then you hear another tear-jerking ballad. Simply a top record!” (5 stars). Partly due to all the positive reactions, she even ended up on the cover of the American blues magazine 'Blues-E-News', in the good company of Beth Hart, Susan Tedeschi and Shemekia Copeland, among others, who were chosen by the public as leading ladies in the Blues.

With her powerful, tormented and always blues-soaked vocals, AJ Plug first spoke in 2014 with the CD 'Let Go or Be Dragged'. Positive reactions and a mention on the cover of the American blues magazine 'Blues-E-News', in the good company of, among others, Beth Hart, Susan Tedeschi and Shemekia Copeland, were her share. Recently, AJ Plug was proclaimed 'Dutch Blues Vocalist 2016' by the Dutch Blues Foundation.

How does a band develop? For various reasons and coincidences. Aj And The Wildgrooves started playing out of misery blues because nothing more could be earned in the fishing industry. The band does indeed consist of ex fishermen from Katwijk aan Zee. The Zuidwester and oil coats were exchanged for musical instruments. That seemed so good that after a few practice sessions it was decided to look for a singer or singer. They found it in the person of A.J. Plug, a blond lady who had just been kicked out of the church choir because of obscene language. She fitted well in the picture and AJ And The Wildgrooves were born. The band was founded in 2012 and has worked hard in 2013 to put itself on the map. That worked pretty well because they played around 50 concerts that year, both at festivals and in pubs. They played at the Heineken Jazz festival, Blues aan Zee, Zoetermeer Blues Festival and the Breda Jazz festival, so they quickly gained a lot of name in a short time. In October 2013 the band played in Nieuw Vennep where they were selected for the final of the Dutch Blues Challenge 2013. For example, an occasional band has grown into an almost indispensable band of the Dutch blues scene. Singer A.J. calls their music, unpredictable blues. Since the end of May, AJ And The Wildgrooves have released their own debut album with nine own songs with the title 'Let Go Or Be Dragged'. In the Netherlands, the CD received good reviews, ranging from a recommendation to Dutch. The driving force behind the band is definitely Singer AJ, who also wrote all songs.
