Mike Lanigan (aka Salty) formed Swingin Harpoon Blues Band in 2007, after being 'everyone else's harp player'. Literally wearing out a 'Swingerhead' (Michael Andrew) CD over a period of about 12 years, Salty finally acted on his swing interests and put Swingin Harpoon Blues Band together.

Salty was born in Tarpon Springs Fl., and always 'tinkered' with musical instruments. He started blowing harp at 14, learning his licks from two main sources: J. Geils Band and The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. The two contrasting styles of music influenced Salty's harmonica style. Other influences come from Pat Ramsey, William Clarke, Fingers Taylor, Johnny Winter, Michael Andrew, Lee Oskar, and many other artists over the years. Salty's hard blowing licks and unique timing provide a unique harmonica flavor, enjoyed by all.

Over the years, Salty has been a member of The Summer Brothers, Harpo, Brad Willis & The Southern Stars, Florida Band, Lost Companion Band, Southern Satisfaction, Barry Fish Band, Allie & The Allie Cats, Midnight Rain, The Saltwater Cowboy Band and Roadhouse. Swingin Harpoon Blues Band is a concept that Salty has envisioned for many years.

Take the big sound of a swing big band and arrange blues harp into the mix with solid blues, and you have Swingin Harpoon Blues Band. Swingin Harpoon Blues Band has been booking regionally and in legendary venues such as Bradfordville Blues Club & Bullwinkles (Tallahassee Fl), The Melting Point (Athens GA), Pineapple Willies (Panama City Beach Fl), and many others. The reception from the crowds have been overwhelming.
