Feel Like Going Home explores the many emotions of a blues artist who left his home in England to move to Germany almost two decades ago. While it’s not quite the Mississippi to Chicago great migration of legendary blues musicians such as Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy, his own move was, nonetheless, not an easy one. Feel Like Going Home features 10 new, original, self-written songs. Kris Pohlmann processes his emotions and feelings of leaving home, missing family and loved ones through various blues styles. This is Kris Pohlmann’s most blues oriented album yet and features his live band, Jonas Bareiter on bass and Roman Dönicke on drums as well as a host of talented guest musicians.

Kris was born in England in 1977 and moved to Germany when he was 22. His first album ‘New Resolution’ was released in 2009. ‘One For Sorrow’ (2012) won 6 German Blues awards in the process (including ‘Best Album’, ‘Best Song’, ‘Best Singer’, ‘Best Band’ for the album ‘One For Sorrow’) His 2015 release ‘Taylor Road’ received worldwide acclaim and was a top 10 charting blues-rock album in Germany. ’10 Years Live’ his first live album was released in 2016. ‘Feel Like Going Home’ is now his fifth album.

Internationally renowned for his high energy, sweaty and endlessly entertaining shows, Kris Pohlmann has built up a loyal fan base across Europe, headlined numerous European tours and festivals. Citing Freddie King, Gay Moore, Rory Gallagher and Status Quo as his biggest influences Kris Pohlmann concerts are a guarantee for explosive blues-rock.

Kris Pohlmann celebrates the anniversary of the first time that he stepped in front of an audience at club with the release of 10 Years Live. Stuffed full of his originals off his previous studio albums and a handful of covers we get a glimpse of what a Pohlmann show is like. It’s full of gravely and gruff vocals and the anthemic classic guitar riffs with a touch of blues that he’s known for.

The album is a power trio format with Janosch Brenneisen on drums and Jonas Bareiter on bass and backing vocals. Recorded partially during his European tour for Taylor Road a large part of it was done live in the studio in front of an audience. Kris’ vocals are at the forefront and dominate the mix with his guitar a close second and the contributions of his rhythm section are almost lost in the mix.

As mentioned there is a diverse mix of tracks like the huge rock sound of “Used to Be” and the title track off the Taylor Road album along with the clearly SRV inspired “Fallin Down” off of his first album, New Resolution. What is most interesting though is the mix of cover tunes of artists that have influenced him. These include Johnny Guitar Watson’s “Too Tired” with clear Gary More inflections, Free’s “Come Together In The Morning,” the Boogie Rock Blues of Status Quo’s “(April) Spring, Summer & Wednesdays,” and covers of classic blues songs like “I’m Tore Down” and “Reconsider Baby.”

Kris sums this record up best with the following. “This album is a celebration of 10 years of hard work and dedication to the music that is very much part of who I am. It’s a “thank you“ to my fans who have enabled me to perform live for a decade.” ~by Kevin O’Rourke

Kris Pohlmann was born in England and moved to Germany at the age of 22. He was the front man of the KRIS POHLMANN BAND for 7 years, releasing 2 critically acclaimed albums, winning 6 blues awards, performing at numerous festivals and completing many German & Dutch tours.

In the summer of 2013 Kris decided to disband the trio in order to pursue a solo career and form a new band – harder hitting and more rock focused than ever before. Having gained a name as “one of the most interesting blues-rock artists of this generation” this was a brave step. The result? A new band, a new sound and with “Taylor Road” an album that is by far the best of his young musical career.
