Doors swing open to reveal a dimly lit cabaret, patrons bustle about breathing trails of smoke to cloak the darkness. Heels sway and shuffle, beats pulsate the wooden floorboards, and blues licks ripple through the air. In the corner of the joint, a nine year old girl watches the howling stage in awe as the clock strikes midnight.

Nurtured by crackling vinyl, living room jams, and music festivals, Miss Rae bares her soul on stage. Her fiery lyrics channel tales of former lives, and unveil hushed histories that are riddled with hardships, valour, and desire. Miss Rae explores her Métis and African heritage by electrifying delta blues, with a dash of roots and old jazz.

After winning first place in the 2012 Harvest Moon Songwriting Contest, and performing on tr festival stage, Miss Rae then set out to assemble the Midnight Ramblers. Backing this soulstress, these fellas capture the essential grit to intensify a velvety voice.

“Newcomer Miss Rae, has such a great big, bold voice and sings the blues with such heavy, world-weary conviction, it’s hard to believe she’s only 21.” - Jen Zoratti (CBC Manitoba Scene)

“[Miss Rae has] a tremendous range, and it’s sweet, sweet savage – it just melts me.” - Rockin’ Ronnie (Host of Bluesday on CKUW 95.9FM)
