The Way To My Heart is the new album and program of "Get the Cat". With a bluesy voice, virtuoso guitar playing and earthy grooves, the band hits straight into the heart. "Get the Cat" is a blues band of the 21st century, which processes and addresses many influences. Inspirations from Little Feat, Bonnie Raitt to KebMo ring through and become a very own Get the Cat sound.

Characteristic is the warm voice of Melanie Bartsch, whose charm nobody can escape. It is carried and accompanied, guided and directed by Jens Filser's magical guitar playing. Both as a companion and as a soloist, he impresses with virtuosity and taste. The exceptional guitarist of the German blues scene unfolds in this volume all his skills. Bassist Till Brandt and drummer Bernd Oppel contribute a solid, groovy foundation.

The band from the Rhineland plays a program that is 100% self-composed by bassist Till Brandt. The result is surprising, when "Get The Cat" the relatives of Soul and Rock & Roll, chaired by ancestor Blues, gathered at a table. The band presents itself modern and at the same time traditional, full of surprises and yet in a familiar way plays itself directly into the heart of the lover of the blue tones.

There is no map for the way to the heart! Just get on the road and see where it takes you! That's the only answer the band can give. That's why every concert of "Get the Cat" is a journey. With joy at the improvisation, virtuosity, taste and much feeling they conquer the hearts of their listeners.

With their guest Gero Körner on the Hammond B3 and the Fender Rhodes they have found the perfect match. The Cologne-based musician knows how to empathize with the music and shines with his own solo performances. With his sounds he completes the wonderful, authentic bluesy sound of the band..

[4:27] 10. All I'm Saying
[5:12] 11. The Habit I'm Trying To Break

It is evident where they're from in the opener “Sweet Home Cologne”. A nice soulblues, in which Astrid lives up to her reputation as 'blond lady with the dark voice' immediately. “Two Steps Forward” is a nimble swinging song with a nice guitar solo by Philipp. The next song “Ghost Town” is built on a funky bassline. The pretty organ- and guitar solo give some relief in the otherwise grisly character of the song. A mean sounding guitar, a threatening voice “remember your last shirt” are the beginning if the almost nine and a half minute long “Your Last Shirt (Won't Have A Pocket)”. A versitale song leading us through funk, rock and blues keeping you alert by its tempo changes and soli. My personal favorite. With “A Man For Saturday Night” the tempo goed up. The horn section provide a strong support and the exciting guitar solo make it a thrilling rock/soulsong. Especially the accompaniment in “Maria Knows Them All” make it a swinging song to which it is difficult to sit still. With “I'm Good” the blues is visited and with “Enough Is Enough” the funky rhythm is leading. This too swings likes nothing else. Astrid's soulful voice and the duel between guitar and organ make it one of the best songs of the album. A bit of rest with the beautiful ballad “Broad Shoulders”. “All I'm Saying” is a happy tune with a nice melody, but evidently a threatening text. Don't get this lady angry! With the last song I think for a moment that accidentally a track of Deep Purple landed on the album, but not true. I admit that “The Habit I'm Trying To Break” is a strong song that later on does remind again of the old rockers, but it is undeniably Get The Cat and it is a fine song to close this album. ~Eric
