Aisha Khan sings American roots music, jazz, blues and rhythm & blues of the 1940’s/50’s. With a nod to the glamour and sophistication of a bygone era, and over 25 years of experience, coupled with an unrivalled passion for the music, she combines outstanding original material with powerful cover versions and performs them all with class, soul, talent and wit. Equal parts sultry jazz chanteuse and rhythm and blues belter, Aisha easily communicates heartbreak, joy and a range of emotions in between. Aisha’s earliest influences incorporated everything from Elvis and Sarah Vaughan to Billy Bragg and Northern Soul and once drawn into London’s incendiary rockabilly club scene, she felt the irresistible pull of black American rhythm & blues as a call to action, setting up her first band Tiger Lily and the Jitterbugs, with which she performed throughout the UK and Europe for several years.

Subsequently, she was the first vocalist with the 10 piece big band Blue Harlem performing swing and jump jive. Throughout this time, she also sang jazz and blues in a variety of combos. She is currently working in England and Europe with ongoing projects in Spain and London. Recent performances include events with the Aisha Khan R&B Revue, Blue Harlem, Cherry Casino & the Gamblers, Big Jamboree and the Velvet Candles. Her debut solo album on El Toro records was released as digital download and CD in 2017, entitled "Aishaddiction". It’s packed full of stunning original material ranging from doo-wop to calypso and features outstanding musicianship plus special guests.

Backed by her stellar band, The Rajahs, Aisha Khan adds another classic to her catalogue of recordings. Showcasing both strong vocal and musical performances and continuously evolving songwritings kills, Seven Shades of Blue ranges from the emotive titletrack to the energetic rocking blues of Green Eyed Monster. The album includes 10 outstanding tracks. It includes the first song she ever wrote when she began singing, sultry blues Miss Frigidaire, which has been recorded here for the very first time.

Aisha & the Rajahs wanted to record an album that could easily be reproduced in a live environment. With previous recordings Aishaddiction and The Magnificent Twelve being rather more ambitious projects with multiple styles and a range of incredible musical and vocal guests, they felt that they wanted this collection to be something fundamental but real where the musicianship, songs and emotion sit centre stage and can be experienced at any gig.

Personnel: Aisha Khan (vocals); Mal Barclay (guitar); Matt Radford (bass); Brian Neville (drums, percussion); Al Nicholls (saxophone); Jenny Carr (piano).

London's rhythm & blues Queen Aisha Khan backed by her outstanding band the Rajahs. It's both a labour of love and a culmination of a decades long dream. The album is a collection of twelve mostly original duets with some of her favourite contemporary roots music heroes from both sides of the pond. Inspired many years ago by the inimitable collection of musical pairings on the Ella and her Fellas recording, the idea of an album of duets with different performers had been a long held fantasy.

As a prolific songwriter with a growing collection of songs that lent themselves perfectly to being collaborations, Aisha found the album taking shape organically over the last few years. She has been performing for over thirty years and along the way became friends with many of the guests on the album today. With influences ranging from jump blues to country, the album was mostly recorded in London at Cowshed studios and produced by Spanish guitarist, musician and producer extraordinaire, Mario Cobo.
