For most of the last 18 months the Ian Parker band has been constantly touring the UK and continental Europe. This album is a reflection of that busy schedule. Parker explains, "WHILST THE WIND was recorded in Hannover during my German tour of December 2004, and features four songs from INSIDE [his last sudio album, RUF1094], four brand new songs and four cover versions. I have been playing David Crosby’s 1970 'Almost Cut My Hair' for many years on stage and never tire of it. In recent months we have begun linking this with another wonderful song from 1970, Peter Green’s 'Green Manalishi'." "The new songs reflect significant events which took place in my life and in the world around me during 2004. The death of my grandmother is the subject of 'It Hurts A Man'. 'The Moral Men' and 'The Truth Within' reflect a general questioning of the course of humanity in the modern age, compounded in no small part by the foreign policy decisions taken by the UK and US governments during this period. 'By Your Side' was written during a moment of pessimism about my ability to maintain my relationship whilst out on tour all of the time." "We did not in any way attempt to doctor the recording, which I think conveys a great deal of emotion and documents fairly representatively the manner in which four musicians had grown together as a unit during a very busy year of touring.”
