Gil Franklin has been a fixture in the Arkansas music scene for over three decades. He has played in too many bands to mention,( Notably The Blues Patrol)and has done too many things to talk about. Oddly enough, this band is the first to perform almost all original material. Fan response have been great. While his songs are uniquely his, they remain the blues. Gil sings with a road weary conviction, and his lyrics speak from the heart. Fleshing out the music on lead and slide guitar, he also plays a National Lap Steel. Spurning the trend of weirdness, the band is simply called the Gil Franklin Band. This is more a band of brothers than hired hands. Long time band mate Jim Harlow holds down the base and Gil says, Jim can almost read the rest of his mind. They have played together off and on for 20 years and it shows. The newest member of the band is John Roach, drummer extraordinaire. John has played with too many bands to list and does a great job with Jim as the rhythm section. Last but not least, Gil's partner in crime on the guitar is Dan Sokoloski. Also known as Dangerous Dan, Dan the Man, and Lick. Dan is a perfect fit for Gil;'s guitar style. The two men's style merge perfectly. Dan formerly played with Blue Attitude, and brings attitude every night. This is a band of professionals and Gil is proud they enjoy playing his original music, and prouder still to have a band of friends that travel well together. They are ready for the music festivals and the road. Come and give the Gil Franklin Band a listen, it is solid roots music from the South, and every note rings true.
