With an eye toward post-war blues Hipshake delivers a sound that is always unmistakably their own. With their first CD release," I Want To Thank You", Hipshake delivered hypnotic grooves, classic blues guitar, and old school harmonica, and featured the sultry vocals and emotive song writing of Rachelle (Campillo) Sheehan. Greg “Hendu” Henderson leads the band, and has been a key player in the Santa Cruz blues scene for the past ten plus years. You’ll hear licks reminiscent of Stevie, Johnny W. and BB in “Hendu’s” guitar, rich in tradition and emotion, and his vocals hit the raw emotion that define what makes music "the blues."

Rachelle (Campillo) Sheehan has returned to front the band again with her unique powerful vocals. Rich "Nigel" Fell on bass provides a solid low end, allowing the band the freedom to explore their contemporary post-war sound. Billy Rogers on drums completes the rhythm section, propelling the band and our dancing fans. Veteran harmonica player Dennis Tully tastefully adds his chops to the mix giving the band another layer of classic, old school blues, while sax player Shaun Liddy, adds even more to the swing and groove feeling that makes Hipshake such a popular dance band. Hipshake comes together to deliver a classic brand of blues with a compelling groove that has become the band’s trademark.

Hipshake has been sharing their love for Chicago and West Coast blues since 1985. Besides being a passionate art form and an expressive musical language, blues provides an opportunity to pay tribute to some of the great artists and composers like Muddy Waters, Little Walter and T-Bone Walker.

Hipshake includes Jim Ainsworth, vocals, harmonica, guitar, Dawson Steen, drums, John Baxter, guitar and welcomes back founding member Len Miller, vocals, percussion as well as long time bassist Andy Bedard. Join Hipshake in their 30th year at Blues for Food 2015.
