A veteran of the DC music scene for almost thirty years, J.P. Reali has played in numerous venues throughout the city. From his days as the lead guitar player in the psychedelic blues band The Next Step in the 1980’s, to his days as half of the acoustic blues/roots duo The Reali Brothers in the 1990’s, through his current solo career, J.P.’s playing has electrified listeners. He has performed extensively throughout the east coast, and spent 16 weeks in residence in Japan thrilling listeners with his musical prowess.
In April 2007, J.P. released his long-awaited solo acoustic blues debut recording “Cold Steel Blues.” The album, which features nine originals and six cover songs by such blues greats as Robert Johnson and Reverend Gary Davis, showcases J.P.’s proficiency in both the delta and piedmont styles. The independent recording was well received by local “guide to fun” magazine On Tap.
While J.P.’s repertoire is steeped in the traditions of Piedmont and Delta blues and includes such classics songs as Statesboro Blues, and Walkin’ Blues, it also showcases his original blues compositions in a conscious effort to keep these traditional styles alive in the 21st century.
In July of 2010 J.P. released his second self-produced album, “Bottle of Blooze." This album features nine original songs by J.P. and two by his brother Chris Reali. On Tap said of “Bottle of Blooze”– “Reali’s acoustic guitar picking is crystal clear and at times mesmerizing. In a city where real blues can be hard to find Reali is a solid purveyor of the form.”
J.P. won the D.C. Blues Society’s Battle of the Bands in the solo category in 2010 and 2011, and went on to compete in The International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee both years. He also received Washington Area Music Association nominations for Best Blues Instrumentalist, and Best Traditional Blues Recording for 2010 and 2011.
He is currently performing at a variety of venues and events in and around the D.C Metro region, and has an exciting new 2012 release of original music “The Road To Mississippi” available now.
He is a member of The D.C. Blues Society, The Piedmont Blues Preservation Society, The Washington Area Music Association, and The Baltimore Blues Society.

Ishman Bracey was an original amongst originals, as all bluesmen were in a way Outlaws among Outlaws, as no two played the same song the same way twice. But Ishman was lucky to have had such a rare kindred spirit in bluesdom in his bestest friend and lifelong inspirational partner Tommy Johnson. Two Old Crow's if ever there were two regulars hanging for life in the same ancient tree or seated at the same bar stools reserved exclusively for each. Telling that these two local cronies spent near everyday of their lives at each other's side yet their music is wholly singularly each's own and expressive of each's spirit. Those were days when if one played a traditional song note for note of someone else's accomplishment it only showed you were not a real musician and had no right to steal, or worse, forge a fakery and mock another...thus no song was played the same way twice in a music who has no equivalent in America today as far as spontaneous purity goes. There is no place on the planet where a music as versatile and divers as that of the entire state of Mississippi is where some unknown night only the dog star shone there rose out of a soil as dark as coffeegrounds a 100 bogey's hollerin’ the blues everywhere two roads crossed one another. A state that boasts a delta valley that only the Nile in Egypt can compare to for sheer size and grandiose beauty, as well as the richest soil in the world! The Jester Ruthless purports with abundant evidence a meteor landed in the vicinity of Clarksdale, in the very heart of the delta around 1926, and that explains why the Devil's got no dice on Mississippi Bluesmen, and could relax whenever he made his way down from Memphis all the way to Jackson, the unholy capitol of rough and lowdown juke joints where Tommy and "IshY" hung out before and after their glorified return from up north in the deltalands where Tommy's Brother tells he use to boast the devil hisself sat down and learned him how to play the git-fiddle a year ago he could barely keep tuned rightly! ~Anita Fix/Amazon

Guitar Mac and His Blues Express is a member of this elite group. He is from Cotton Plant, Arkansas, but his music is pure Mississippi Delta Blues. He was introduced to playing the blues guitar at a very young age, learning the Delta style which is still alive and kicking in that region. He moved to the South Bay area in 1968 and settled in Sacramento, California. He has relentlessly pursued opportunities to perform and demonstrate this style of music to the masses. This drive takes him all over the world. He’s performed in Europe – all over France, Italy, England, Germany and Holland. In California he’s been playing his music since 1983 at the Sacramento Blues Festival.

In France, the success is really spectacular: to sell more than 15 000 albums nowadays is a real exploit, but to do that without any help from the medias is a real feat!!!!A feat realized thanks to the "Vox Populi" and built all along more than 300 concerts produced by the duo. We must say that during a concert the exchange between the Mountain Men and his public is really extraordinary

Carried on by Mister Mat's heady voice and by the flights of iano's harmonica, the groove and the emotion go together during all concert. Listening to the songs for several times, of course, it's best to write down on the basis of a bit of experience. For some reason, I had to imagine a few times what could be droneblues or bluesdrone (or just a deep blue bluish). To do the part of the song and then, after 5-10 minutes, simply let the pussies dig and whistle and lean. I imagined where the change could be. Next, I thought it would be nice if a bit of Estonian would sound on the disc. Outro, intro, some songs or just a few seconds' talk or call. To not just be international music, it's a moment that will make a non-Estonian one. The same thought was followed by the fact that it would be nice to listen to extra-mouthed moments on the disc. In a word, I would be in such a band, doing so differently. Fortunately I'm not making music. Without a bluesmith, it must be noted that the disc is fully listenable. Sorry, but did not watch or read the lyrics.

Document Records have only the one David "Honey Boy" Edwards CD available, but what a CD it is. Recorded in 1975 and originally released on vinyl (Roots SL-518), the sound restoration is excellent as is the quality of Mississippi Delta Blues being played. Although the CD is NOT LIVE, the selection on Blues, Blues does play like a micro potted biography of Honey Boy's life, with numbers by his friends Tommy McClennan and Chester "Howlin'" Wolf Burnett. From the personal Blue, Blues with it's sympathetic and "lonesome" harmonica accompaniment, to the Chicago blues fanfare by Robert Johnson; Sweet Home Chicago. His experiences as an itinerant musician is summed up in Big Bill Broonzy's Key To The Highway. Tales of betrayal and wrongdoing in love are told in Drop Down Mama with it's delicate slide guitar accompaniment. Images of the heat drenched Mississippi juke joints are conjured up as Honey Boy skips and bounces his way through I Love You Baby. The kind of hurt and loneliness only known by the experience of lost love is powerfully portrayed in When You Get Lonesome.

The Mississippi Delta country blues, and the way of life that Honey Boy experienced are brought to life by this true Afro-American artist. Honey Boy's rich and seasoned vocals set against his acoustic guitar, including some fine bottleneck slide guitar and wonderful rack-harmonica goes to the heart of the blues; "the Blues, Blues".
