Bridges wrote songs inspired by the soul music of the '50s and '60s. This earned him a small fan base, and his breakthrough came after he met Austin Jenkins and Joshua Block of the band White Denim. Because of the song "Coming Home" that Bridges wrote, he got the attention of the two. In late 2014, he released two demos via Soundcloud produced by Jenkins and Block. "Coming Home" was widely played by local radio stations. As a result, Bridges received attention from various record labels and signed with Columbia Records in 2014.
