Slidin' Slim & Eric Hansson - Better Late Than Never

Year: 2016
Bitrate: MP3@320K/s
Time: 32:58

9. Face Of A Kid (3:19)
10. A Place In Heaven (2:43)

Slidin’ Slim and Eric Hansson both surfaced on the Swedish blues scene during the mid-90’s and, without knowing about each other, they shared the same passion for blues and roots music and were equally determined to dedicate their lives to the music they loved. When Eric found most of his inspiration from the great british blues masters of the 60’s and made a name for himself playing the clubs in Stockholm, Slim was obsessed with the slide oriented blues from Mississippi delta and traveled the backroads of the Swedish countryside to hone his chops.

The story of the duo of Slim & Hansson began in 2008 when Slim played a club in Eskilstuna, Sweden, and the club owner suggested that it would be a great idea to book an evening with the two together. Well aware of Eric’s capacity, after seeing him several times at different festivals, Slim said yes and contacted Eric who wasn’t a stranger to give it a shoot. It took less than a song to realize that their mutual energy and intensity on stage hit bullseye and the evening was not only a musical success but they also found common ground off stage.

Finally, in 2015, the will to work together made them find the time to begin song writing sessions with the goal of entering a studio as soon a possible to make an album. The album, with the appropriate title "Better Late Than Never", is a tour de force of roots music at its best. Great songs, top notch playing performed live in the studio with a warm but edgy production perfect for the music. With other words; a solid documentation of what Slidin’ Slim and Eric Hansson is all about.

"I can still remember the studio-sessions that resulted in my first blues recording 'How Blue Can A Young Man Get' back in 1995. Like my heroes Robert Johnson, Son House and Big Joe Williams I recorded the songs in one session, live with no over-dubs during 3 to 4 hours. I felt so proud when I heard the result and, even if I had a long way to go, the recording opened up a lot of doors and lead to gigs a both blues societies and festivals.

Today, 20 years later, I can look back at an amazing journey as a blues musician. My Music has given me the opportunity to travel to many places in Europe and USA, I've played with incredible musicians and I've met a whole lot of wonderful people along the way. Hell, I've even recieved a couple of awards that made me really happy and proud.

On this compilation I've tried to gather a few of my many songs I've written and recorded over the years. I think that you'll get a good idea about the journey I've been on. You will, of course, hear the influence of the delta blues but also experience my ambition to develop and try to find new ways to write, perform and record the blues. I sincerely hope that you'll enjoy what you hear!" /Slidin' Slim (from the liner notes)

Slidin' Slim - 2 albums: One Man Riot / One Man, A Whole Lotta blues

I grew up listening to Jerry Lee, Chuck Berry and Fats Domino and that might have put the mean R&B in my blood when I was just a small kid. In the late 70s and early 80s I discovered Ramones, The Clash, Dead Kennedys and whole Swedish punk scene. I guess I always been something of a misfit so I just fell in love with the whole thing and started my first band as a 12 year old. During the late 80..s I lost it for a while but somewhere around 90/91 I discovered delta blues and Son House, Charlie Patton and Robert Johnson. That was it. Since 1994 my whole focus has been the blues and I've released a number of CD's and toured in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Poland, The Netherlands and USA. During the last couple of years I've been writing fiction (nothing published yet) and working on a spoken word idea.
