Harmonica player "Crazy" Chris Kramer is no stranger to the German blues scene. Along with Christoph "Slidin" John on guitar, the top instrumentalist has been on the road as a blues duo for years under the name Bluebyrds. The two artists had concerts recorded in 1999 and 2000, the essence of which is documented on "Live - Made in Germany". Instrumentally, it is important to note that Kramer and John are experts in their field. "Crazy" Chris Kramer blows a hot harp and can be more reserved if necessary. Of course, the musician sometimes weaves too many show effects and gimmicks into his playing. Christoph "Slidin" John acts less show-oriented. But he can also really grab the strings. Especially his slide guitar skills are impressive. As a vocalist, however, he does not fare as well as his partner with his rather expressionless voice. Kramer's organ is simply dirtier, bluesy, which is particularly evident in the bluesy ballad "Don't wish I was dead". The setlist consists mostly of original compositions by the two musicians. The cover versions include Rory Gallagher's Ghost Blues. In addition to the aforementioned "Don't wish I was dead", the hot "Song for Ana" with electric slide guitar and the two boogies "Hold on" and "I can't let my baby go" are the disc's highlights. The Bluebyrds could have left the "Tequila" in the archive. The short bonus track "Tristan's song", on which John's Filius can be heard, would have been in good hands there. Finally, on the almost nine-minute "Have you seen my baby" it becomes clear that the blues duo sometimes has limitations. Trying to maintain the suspense over this period of time, Kramer and John become tiresome over time. But - one has to give the two bluesers credit for this - their type of music simply doesn't develop the charm and atmosphere on recordings that it is able to exude in a small club. ~birddog

Chris Kramer and the blues have been found - and have changed. Whoever thinks that the blues is only a low-pitched suicide, Kramer has never seen live. Because he lives the blues with a huge portion of self-irony and humor, Chris gives the genre a new own note. Apart from the high musical demands, this makes his concerts highly entertaining, entertaining, and sometimes drives the audience into the eye. He talks about how the beak has grown in the Ruhr area, he plays and sings with his own song material, which reflects the problems of everyday life, cariculates them and gives the amused listener often a new, casual and always entertaining view the things.

The "German Blues Award" is awarded in two-year-olds. The winner of the German Blues Award is Chris Kramer, who is a true songwriter, as well as a singer and a virtuoso instrumentalist on harmonica, guitar and dobro. Peter Maffay and his blues-harp were involved several times for CD recordings and concert tours. Chuck Leavell (pianist of the Rolling Stones) says about Chris: "Oh, what an amazing harp player!". Cream-bassist Jack Bruce called him a "master of the blues-harp.", "Simple Minds" -Drummer Mel Gaynor praised his versatility and he was a musical guest both at Jürgen von der Lippe and at Götz Alsmann.

In addition, the sympathetic Ruhrpottler has worked with countless national and international musicians, wrote harmonica books, given workshops and several television stations as musicians - on WDR television, even with his own "planet knowledge" broadcast on America, the blues And Chris Kramer ...

The Hohner instrument maker, world market leader in the production of tongues such as harmonicas and accordions, gave Kramer a special honor: Hohner produced a Chris-Kramer "Signature" harmonica, a personalized model according to its specifications. This recognition by Hohner was previously, for example, John Lennon and Bob Dylan, who also received their "Signature" performance, which highlights the importance of Kramers in the "Blues-Harp" division. ~google translation

This innovative trio is dedicated to giving a full head of modern steam to that venerable old musical genre, Blues. The audacious idea of combining two guitars, vocals and harmonica with the very untypical (for Blues) Beatbox works like a charm. And as a live act it is a sensation.
All three musicians are masters of their musical specialties: they knock their audiences out with inventive solos on guitar, harmonica, and the unusual beatbox. They can be depended upon to get their listeners grooving along and finally demanding encores!
Sometimes traditionally bluesy -- sometimes funky and grooving -- sometimes raw, rocking and electric -- sometimes soft, sensitive and acoustic – the trio displays perfect craftsmanship and mastery of its art. And because their joy in performing always drives the group into high gear, the finest in entertainment is guaranteed for the audience.
Line-up: Chris Kramer (Harmonica, Guitar, Vocals), Kevin O Neal (Beatbox) and Sean Athens (Guitar).

"Everybody likes the Blues, most people just don’t know it yet!" (Chris Kramer, June 2016)
