Blues Cargo is an electric blues band that was formed back in 1987 in Athens by Dimitris Ioannou (bass guitar, vocals), Stelios Zafiriou (guitar), Stelios Gavrilides (drums) and Stelios Zouzoulas (guitar). The band has been playing regularly for more than 24 consecutive years all over Greece and has gained the respect and the admiration of all the Greek and European blues fans.

Their shows continue to massively attract blues audiences regardless of age and gender who consider them as one of the best blues bands in Europe. Besides being an extremely tight band that delivers scorching blues guitar solos and a very wide spectrum of blues arrangements, the trade mark of the band is the unprecedented voice of the singer and bass player of Blues Cargo, Mr. Dimitris Ioannou and the fine and emotional guitar paying of Stelios Zafeiriou.

Many famous American artists have been backed up by the Blues Cargo during their appearances in Greece. Some of them are Louisiana Red, Lurrie Bell, Big Time Sarah, Eddie C. Campbell, Guitar Shorty, Lefty Dizz, Byther Smith and Angela Brown among many others. The band has also opened the shows of John Mayall, John Hammond, Nick Gravenites, Big Town Playboys, and Fernest Arcenaux in Greece.

By the end of 1992, they had recorded a number of original tunes which were finally released on a vinyl LP in 1993, released by Pegasus Records. The album was entitled “First Delivery” and received very good reviews. On March, 2009, the band released their second album after 15 years. That is the reason why this album is called “Delayed Delivery”. The album received excellent reviews from, apart from most blues media, the world's most recognized blues magazine Blues Review.

Growing up in Athens, Greece I spent all of my free time trying to find, buy, listen to and study every blues record I could get my hands on at the US/UK-import record stores. And I was also hearing people like Howlin' Wolf on the American radio broadcasts from the then-existing US military base in Athens. Although the British blues-guitar masters like Peter Green, Eric Clapton and Robin Trower were my first huge influences, the impact on my style from American slingers like Johnny Winter, Harvey Mandel, Duane Allman and, of course, Jimi Hendrix was equally important.

In the early '80s I became the lead guitarist for the pop icon, Sidiropoulos - a Greek Jim Morrison whose lyrics are drug related, erotic and philosophical - with whom I performed and recorded extensively until I moved to Sweden where I continued my classical musical studies at Stockholm University and performed in various clubs around the city. In the late '80s I moved back to Athens, where I formed a powerful blues-rock trio, 'That's Why,' opened for bands as diverse as the Pixies and Peter Green himself and recorded two songs for the Live at Rodon album. My first self-produced CD "Fota Tou Iliggou" (Lights of Vertigo), was released in July 1996 and received overwhelmingly positive reviews from the critics who gave it the highest points of reference. Including "CD of the Month" in Audio (July, 1996).

Between 1996 and 2000 I recorded several songs and in 2000 my Greek record label re-released my CD in a re-mastered, repackaged and re-titled version "I Magissa Tis Arapias" (The Sorceress of Arabia). The title track is a popular Hellenic tune from the that is a mixture of minor blues blended with rembeticko--the Greek blues--for which I created a new arrangement.

When the year 2003 was declared by the American Congress to be "Year of the Blues," I took this to be an excellent sign I should pack up my guitar and head for the motherland of the blues: America! To be specific: New York City. Where I immediately started going to the jams, meeting musicians and making new friends who, like me, had come to the city from places all over the world. Manhattan is a musical mecca and I was blown away by the abundance of musical talent the city had to offer.

Last summer I started to play at some clubs in and around New York. And over the course of various gigs I was able to play with a wide variety of different players some of whom I really clicked with. That's when I decided it was time to go into the recording studio and begin to record my newest songs with--for the first time--English lyrics. Now I've just completed my first all-American recording with eight news songs for which I've written all the music and lyrics and recorded in NYC and Athens. Performing with me are some amazing musicians: Ms. Bernice "Boom Boom" Brooks, diva of drums, Mr. Ivan "Funkboy" Bodly, bassist extraordinaire, Mr. Jeff "Breathtaker" Stewart, harmonica king and yours truly on guitar and vocals. The music is the blues played with Greek soul, spiced up with a funky groove and with a rock intensity that brings to my beloved American roots a European touch. And the soft freshness of a Mediterranean breeze. Pump up the volume and enjoy! ~Soukis

After the album “Crossroad Ritual” which was released in 2006, the Small Blues Trap present their new album titled: “Red Snakes and Cave Bats”. The new release contains 12 new songs and an arrangement of the song “Buy a Dog” that was first written and sang by the front man of the Blues Wire, the oldest and most popular Greek band, Mr. Elias Zaikos.

The Small Blues Trap were formed in 2004 having as their stomping ground their villages in central Greece. What brought these young men together was the need to express themselves through the music and the musicians they loved such as Howling Wolf, Little Walter, Tom Waits, Captain Beefheart and so on.

On this new album, the Small Blues Trap manage to successfully blend their blues passion which constitutes their “raw material” that has been inspiring them with other elements and music genres. The end result is extremely personal as well as unique. This album will undoubtedly in the process of time give the band some very special traits that would lay the foundation - for a recognizable character and style. As Mr. Zaikos puts it, “This band dares to experiment with sounds so as to differentiate itself from what is being considered ‘predictably expected’.”

Deep in the Top were formed in 2010 by four high school students in Thessaloniki, Greece. Since then, the band has performed on some of the town’s biggest music venues and festivals. In February 2012 they played for the first time in a concert with the biggest Greek blues band, the Blues Wire, in Gaia Live Stage. Then, in the summer of 2012 Deep in the Top collaborated with Elias Zaikos, who recorded two songs with the band at their first recording attempt. Two weeks in the studio resulted in ten songs. Four of them are the band’s own compositions.

The following year the band worked on writing new songs and, at the same time, they performed as many times as they got the chance to. Their most remarkable performance was on 26 June 2013, at Gaia Live Stage. In this live show, the audience was introduced to a triplet of women vocalists who accompanied the band on Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll rhythms. A month earlier, Deep in the Top participated in a music contest, organized by Phillipos Nakas conservatory, they were chosen by the judges and traveled to Athens to compete at the semifinals. They won the 1st prize, and got the chance to revisit Athens to record a new series of songs in SAE (Sound and Audio Engineering) studios. 4 days were enough for them to produce 8 songs, all of which their own compositions.

The band’s influences range from the wide field of Blues, to jazz, funk and rock. In the sound of the guitar one can easily trace influences from older Blues players such as Albert Collins and from more contemporary ones such as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer and Greek Elias Zaikos. The keyboard sound is a result of jazz and fusion touches, inspired by artists like Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff and Herbie Hancock. Deep in the Top keep on working on new ideas as well as planning and preparing possible live shows in Thessaloniki and Greece.

Gregg Giarelis is a singer / songwriter and guitarplayer born in Athens, Greece. Early recordings of Chicago bluesmen heard around the house and a deep fascination towards the guitars hanging in the living room was what triggered Gregg's interest in guitar playing and led to a further involvement with blues. Over the years he intensified his relationship with the guitar and singing. His playing was influenced by great blues artists such as Otis Rush, Albert king, Albert Collins, Ronnie Earl, Colin James and Buddy Wittington.

Gregg's been performing frequently since 2004 as a solo artist or in the context of blues bands and has shared the stage with great blues artists like Lucky Peterson, Michael Dotson and Eddie Taylor Jr.

"The boy can play the blues..." Such were Benny Turner's words to the audience after the 10 minute long jam that took place at the "Saloon" blues club in New Orleans, during Greg's recent trip to the United States. Gregg has released his first solo album entitled "Five years of trouble". It consists of 6 original compositions, five songs and one instrumental track. These songs were written during the fall of 2011 and were recorded by the end of that year. A lot of attention to detail has been paid in the album process, being recorded at top notch studios and mastered in Memphis Tennessee.

Folk acoustic guitars against sweet atmospheric "delay" electric guitars. Soulful blues vocals harmonized together with gospel group vocals. The first time for the Blues Trackers releasing an album consisted only from their own music. After ten years with this line up the band made this album as a turning point to their musical journey. Some of the best tracks of the album is the same titled slow blues "Smells like trouble", and "Mind Starvation" a really hot funky rock tune. Also the great folk ballads "Looking for myself" written from Panos Badikouthis and the "Fake fairy tale" written from Tasos Lytridis.
