Jörg Danielsen became intrigued with the Chicago style electric blues when he attended a blues concert with his father. He immediately decided to become a musician and studied blues and three years later in 2008 formed his first band that he called the Vienna Blues Association. Their debut album was released in 2016 with three more to follow leading to their fifth album "Foolin’ Around". The band is still going strong although the lineup has changed. The band consists of Danielsen on guitar and vocals, Christoph Karas on drums, and a new bass player, Martin Melzer. His focus remains on the style of electric blues from the 1960’s and 70’s.

In 2023, Danielsen was selected by the Austrian Blues Society to represent Austria in the 13th Annual European Blues Challenge held this year in Poland. Twenty-two countries were represented in the competition with the Spanish group, Noa and The Hell Drinkers, surfacing as this year’s winners. In addition to the competition and his band’s concerts, Danielsen is the host for frequent blues jams. The new album features ten original songs and seven covers.

The Vienna Blues Association consists of Jörg Danielsen (vocals, guitar), Kiko Perez (electric bass) and Christian Kurz (drums). Jörg also invited some friends and session mates for support in the making of this CD who together or alternately perform on the half of the songs on the album. They are Edi Fenzl on vocals and guitar, harmonica ace Gerry Lülik, Gerhard Beisteiner on upright bass and first class keyboard player Moritz Haugk. Only four titles are cover versions of more or less known standards, the other eight are written by Jörg himself.

Much of the style is based on the Chicago blues, but you can also hear funk in "Good Old Beer", "Chase Your Troubles Away" is a beautiful soul piece with subtle accompaniment and skilful choruses from Gerry and Moritz and the leader himself. "True Love" has nothing to do with Grace Kelly or Bing Crosby, but is a declaration of love to his colour TV - with which Jörg proves his sense of humour. With "There's A Party Goin' On" the disc ends swinging with some fine party blues.

EDI FENZL: Edi Fenzl was born 1976 in Austria – Vienna. He grew up in a musical Family with lots of Blues and Jazz being heard at his home. At the age of 12 his father, who played Guitar in Country and Jazz Bands, took Edi out to the Cinema to watch the "Blues Brothers“. About 2 years later, a freaky music teacher played the video of Jimi Hendrix live at Woodstock in the classroom. At this time a friend sold his cheap, used Fender Stratocaster-Copy to Edi. That made the direction of the confused 14 year old boy clear. After years of jamming and playing and spending all the money to Vinyl Edi made his way up to a self thought Bluesmusician. In 1995 his Power Bluesrock (Hippiewestern) Trio "Fenzl Experience“ was born. The Band was Influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many more.

JÖRG DANIELSEN: Born in 1982 in Vienna/Austria, Jorg grew up in the Middle of Nowhere (outside of Vienna). At school he "scared“ his classmates with that old Music called "blues“. At the age of 16 his father took him out to a Blues Club called "Bluesman“ in Vienna where he saw a show with Peter Kern and Sigi Fassl. That impression had a long lasting impact. Three years later he decided to found a Band. Also 3 years later the band splits and Jörg went back to Vienna. After joinin’ thousands of Jamsessions he met Gerhard Beisteiner (Double Bass) and so they built up a new Blues Band: The Vienna Blues Association. At the same time he started hosting his own Blues Jamsession in Vienna.
