Nigel Egg grew up in England. He became a professional musician at age eight, singing in the Saint George Cathedral choir where he earned sixpence for rehearsal, a shilling for Sunday service and half-a-crown for a funeral.

As time went on, he played in numerous cover bands – blues, rock, country – until one day he wrote a song that people seemed to like.

This was the start of a life-long addiction to writing and performing his own music. Nigel has travelled many miles hoping to create those precious moments when time stops, and the audience and the performer become united in the here and now of the music.

He doesn’t play many clubs these days – he prefers smaller groups of people who really like to play and listen to original music – listening rooms, house concerts, songwriter showcases. And, during daytime hours, senior audiences - click here to see the Senior Music site.

Nigel Egg plays original folk, blues and Americana songs and a very personal collection of soulful American Roots music. His songwriting and his ability to play soulful blues harp and guitar at the same time has won multiple awards from organizations like the Minnesota Folk Festival, the Austin (TX) Songwriters Group and the Telluride (CO) Blues and Brews festival.

Nigel is still trying to find himself through his songwriting and music, but he only seems to get further astray and deeper into the great mystery. The Blues runs deep through these songs and then it pops up ZAP! and it feels like they are all about you, YOUR blues, your life, your something... poignant. The blues has escaped from the museum and this album is destined to become a modern classic!

Nicky Hopkins - Jamming With Edward!

Size: 236 MB
Time: 36:08
File: Flac
Released: 1972
Styles: Rock/Blues
Art: Front

1. The Boudoir Stomp ( 5:13)
2. It Hurts Me Too ( 5:12)
3. Edward's Thrump Up ( 8:11)
4. Blow With Ry (11:05)
5. Interlude A La El Hopo (includes 'The Loveliest Night Of The Year' ( 2:04)
6. Highland Fling ( 4:20)

The album was recorded at London's Olympic Studio on April 23, 1969, during the Let It Bleed sessions, and released on Rolling Stones Records in 1972. It consists of a series of loose jams performed by band members while waiting for Keith Richards to return to the studio. The reason for Richards' absence is uncertain; although it is commonly believed that he walked out over Cooder being brought in as a support guitarist, producer Glyn Johns has attributed his absence to a phone call from his girlfriend Anita Pallenberg. Although Jamming with Edward! reached No. 33 on the US charts in February 1972 during an 11-week stay, it failed to make the UK listings.

"Edward" is a nickname for pianist Nicky Hopkins, originating from some earlier studio conversation between Hopkins and another Rolling Stone, Brian Jones. Hopkins also contributed the cover art. In the original liner notes, Mick Jagger describes the album as "a nice piece of bullshit... which we cut one night in London, England while waiting for our guitar player to get out of bed. It was promptly forgotten (which may have been for the better) ... I hope you spend longer listening to this record than we did recording it." On the CD version there are additional notes written by Mark Paytress adding more context and describing the result as a "curio to top all curios, perhaps".

Johns said of the album: "[It] was just a joke really, just a laugh. I recorded it and they played it, and then, I don't know how long later, we dug the tapes out, I mixed it and they stuck it out on album. It didn't really warrant releasing really, but it was okay, a bit of fun, and there's some good playing on it."

According to Rolling Stone, the release was delayed for several months due to the appearance of an expletive on the back cover art, which was partially covered with stars in the ultimate release.

Nick Woodland - The Current That Flows

Size: 426 MB
Time: 65:41
File: Flac
Released: 2006
Styles: Blues
Art: Front

1. Keep The Love (5:30)
2. Like A Rose (4:09)
3. New Pony (6:58)
4. Spodie (5:05)
5. Tender Trap (4:31)

9. Motherless Children (5:25)
10. Thanks To You (6:55)
11. Tailspin (5:05)
12. When Tears Are Near (5:49)

Londonse Nick Woodland is among the veterans of the English blues-rock scene. Inspired by the great British bluesman such as Alexis Korner, Eric Clapton, John Mayall and Peter Green, he began to play the guitar very young by embarking on a varied artistic path between pop, blues and even jazz (next to Herbie Mann). Its range of action expands further by embarking on a real feeling with the rope, mandolin and mandolous instruments included. The new album The Current That Flows is a return to simple blues where the elegance of solo interventions represents a fundamental prerogative of Woodland's style. Even the reference to Dylan (of which we find here a version of almost seven minutes of New Pony, but also songs by David Lindley and Bo Diddley) is not negligible, and indeed, every pure reference to the American folk is processed and acquires different characteristics from time to time. With The Current that Flows the German ENJA - German label are also the musicians who accompany Woodland: Klaus Reichardt, guitars, Walter Zinkl, Basso and Holger Brandt, drums - he resumes a promising journey dedicated to the blues from which it is hoped can be remarkable surprises.

Alexis Korner was a British blues musician and radio broadcaster. He had travelled with his parents through Switzerland and North Africa before settling in London as a 12 year-old. He grew up listening to the early blues pioneers and his music career as a guitarist and singer really began with engagements in Ken Colyer and Chris Barber bands. In 1956, Korner met Cyril Davies with whom he founded the famed blues club in Ealing and the band Blues Incorporated. Their aim was to play 'real' and uncompromising blues (probably the first 'electric British blues' bands) becoming a platform for the careers of Mick Jagger, Brian Jones (5), Jack Bruce, Charlie Watts, and many others. Davis left in 1963 and Blues Incorporated disbanded in 1967. The following years saw Korner in many bands, most of them short-lived: Free At Last (2), New Church and Snape. From the late 1960s Korner toured, often as Duo (6) - for instance with Peter Thorup, but mostly with bassist Colin Hodgkinson. By the late 1970s, Korner gained recognition as a radio DJ and broadcaster, continuing to record sporadically with bands such as CCS and Snape. His 50th birthday all-star concert was released as The Party Album. In 1981, he joined the "supergroup" Rocket 88, led by Ian Stewart and based on boogie-woogie keyboard players, which featured a rhythm section comprising Jack Bruce and Charlie Watts, among others, as well as a horn section. Korner died from lung cancer in 1984.

Alex Voysey is one of the most exciting artists on the current UK Blues scene. Having spent the last couple of years gigging hard across the country with his band formed in 2021, Alex has gained a core following that has been built on the reputation of his exhilarating live performances. His new album ‘Blues In Isolation’ reached the prestigious number one slot in the IBBA charts in May 2023, ‘an album full of stunning guitar virtuosity’ (Blues In Britain). Co-produced by Paul Long (Catfish/BB King/BBC Radio 2) and drummer Paul Arthurs it launched to a sold out Cheltenham Playhouse with the first single, Whiskey and Wine, hailed by renowned jazz and blues broadcaster Spencer Evans as ‘exceptional’, and builds on the attention AV3 received that was also a Top 10 album on the IBBA chart in January this year. Alex's playing owes much to the blues/rock influence of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joe Bonamassa, coupled with a refreshing and high-octane personal style. As consummate musicians, the band feed off each other’s virtuosity and musical integrity to deliver shows packed with incredible guitar performances, phenomenal musicianship, funky grooves and catchy riffs! Their original material is engaging, complex and memorable and when coupled with virtuosic funk bass player Ben Hands’ monster 6 string Dingwall the talents of drum maestro Paul Arthurs and keys wizard Andy Allpass, this is a band that is constantly evolving and excites audiences wherever they go. Recent highlights have included their debut at the legendary Soho Pizza Express jazz club and headlining at the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival in 2023, with sold-out debut shows at Swanage Blues Festival, Diseworth Blues Club and Skipton Town Hall more recently and appearances all over the country in 2024. Alex recently depped with the mighty international powerhouse Catfish….these guys are an exciting new talent not to be missed! Since graduating from Leeds College of Music in 2017, Alex also works as a session guitarist with many of the country’s leading symphony orchestras, including the Hallé, CBSO, RLPO, RTE Dublin, BBCNOW, London Concert Orchestra and Manchester Camerata across a variety of styles including West End/Bond/Abba/Nashville/80’s/90s shows and several film with live orchestra screenings in major concert halls of ‘Casino Royale’ and ‘Skyfall’ with ‘Top Gun Maverick’ coming up in November 2024. He made his BBC Proms debut in July 2024 Alex currently owns several guitars but is especially fond of the blue Les Paul which he and his dad built together a decade ago. It took him all the way through music college and is still used on nearly every gig!

UK singer, pianist and guitarist Mike Sanchez is one of the most exciting and charismatic performers of Rhythm & Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll in the world today. His indelible image as a frenetic front man, pumping powerful boogie-woogie from the piano in a soaking suit, has won him fans from all over the world and attracted a following from many famous rock and blues legends who have lined up to work with him. "So Many Routes" features some excellent original material that was recorded in 2006 with Mike Sanchez’s former band mate in Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings : Albert Lee. Mike took the time to polish them and the result is certainly of his best CDs to date.
Albert Lee, one of the most famous rock guitar players from England, had a successful solo career and played with the 'who's who' of the rockin' scenes from the 1960s up to the nowadays. Chris Farlowe & The Thunderbirds, The Everly Brothers Reunion, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Wyman, Bo Diddley, Earl Scruggs, Tom Jones, Emmylou Harris, Eric Clapton to name just a few.
This album is fantastic mixture of classic Rhythm & Blues and Rockabilly music !
