This is the fourth album release for Blue Harlem and the first to feature their fabulous new vocalist Sophie Shaw. This album not only captures the fashionable spirit of '40s and '50s rhythm 'n’ blues but also introduces new arrangements and a fresh collection of material. Blue Harlem have always had an enviable reputation on the live music circuit following a career spanning 10 years. They have not only built a huge fan base internationally but have repeatedly been invited back to perform in front of the Royal Family both at Highgrove and Buckingham Palace.

Based in London, the band are regulars at The Pigalle and The 100 Club (the chosen venue for the album launch) and frequently perform at Festivals and venues throughout Europe. Sophie Shaw, who had been a long time fan of the band and regular dancer at their live gigs, previously worked on stage and screen as both an actress and singer. Of this recording Sophie says “I’m really excited about this album. We’ve had a blast getting some fabulous new material down. The band are playing better than ever – they swing me off my feet.”

Al Nicholls, tenor sax player and arranger for the band, says “I am immensely proud of this recording. It’s by far the best album we have recorded to date. The boys individual playing is terrific – uplifting, generous and spirited. The ensemble playing is tight, crisp but always swinging like mad. Sophie has done a fantastic job re-interpretiung and styling these songs.” In this new recording the band continue the exploration of the urban blues.

Artists such as Louis Jordan, Percy Mayfield, Charles Brown, Ruth Brown are all represented here, along with new material from the band itself and the song writing partnership of the legendary beat generation survivor Fran Landesman and composer Simon Wallace. Simon also recorded and co-produced the album. A collaboration of some great musical talent resulting in outstanding interpretations of recordings with a taste of the old and the new. “It’s happy music that makes you want to dance.” /Michael Parkinson, BBC Radio 2

This is the second album by the critically acclaimed Blue Harlem and what an album it is! Talk To Me features rhythm 'n' blues classics influenced by artists such as Billie Holiday, Ruth Brown, Dinah Washington and particularly early Ray Charles. It is contemporary urban blues at its best. Featuring the lead vocals of Dublin-born Imelda May who recently went down a storm after appearing on Jools Holland, is regarded by fans and critics alike as one of the finest vocalists currently emerging out of the UK roots music scene. She's a rockin' little minx; tough, sassy, sexy, classy, "a big voice on a fine tiny frame".

Blue Harlem have been widely regarded as one of the top swing/jump-blues bands on the London scene for over 15 years. They have become regular favourites at venues such as the world famous Ronnie Scott's, The100 Club, The Hippodrome, Hideaway, Jitterbugs and many, many more. Blue Harlem have been widely regarded as one of the top swing/jump-blues bands on the London scene for over 25 years. They have become regular favourites at venues such as the world-famous Ronnie Scott's, The100 Club, The Hippodrome, Hideaway, Jitterbugs and many, many more. They enjoy an international reputation - 2007 found them launching the 4th International Film Festival of Dubai and in 2008, they were personally invited by Baz Luhrmann to perform for the launch of his 1940's blockbuster movie ‘Australia’.

These tracks neatly document Imelda May's tenure as vocalist with Blue Harlem. Previously un-released material and re-mixed favourite tracks. 10 of these tracks originally appeared on Imelda May's first recording with Blue Harlem. Long since deleted these tracks have been re-mixed and re-masterd and given a new lease of life. The remaining 4 tracks were recorded in the autumn of 2006 shortly before Imelda left the band to launch her solo career, and so were never released (or used in any form).

The band, once again, demonstrate why they have such an enviable reputation on the live circuit. Their tight ensemble playing, and the inspired soloing show why they are such a hit at halls, clubs and festivals not just up and down this land, but right across Europe - and beyond. The arrangements are terrific, not merely a re-hash of the old recordings as too many bands nowadays are guilty of. Here we have a genuine re-interpretation of some classic urban blues, as well as handful of convincing sounding original numbers.
