With her debut album “ He’s Whiskey in A Teacup” Cass Greaves emerges as one of Australia’s most unique jazz & blues artists. Her music is steeped in delta blues & her voice sings soulful tunes straight out of the bayou. While her sound pays homage to the greats of the past, Cass Greaves is a truly original & fresh artist. She writes songs that are honest & sings them with a rawness that is rarely heard in modern music.
Cass has worked alongside some of Australia’s leading jazz artist including James Morrison, Ed Wilson and Emma Pask, performing regularly at venues including The basement and the Vanguard as well as the Darling Harbour and Manly Jazz festivals. From the age of 16 Cass toured internationally to Cuba as well as Vienna fronting various big bands and jazz groups and has had the pleasure of singing alongside international artists including American Jazz vocalist Barbra Morrison and the Buena Vista Social Club. Stepping away from the Jazz standards, In 2012, time spent in New Orleans not only inspired Cass to start writing this album but ultimately influenced the sound and musical style she has today. “In New Orleans I found my soul and blues and it has had my heart ever since”……..
The album recorded at the prestigious 301 studios in Sydney under the direction of former EMI Records Engineer and executive producer, Gerry Nixon.
Gritty, Swampy & Dirty in all the right ways, Cass’s music will take you on a journey that is a little dangerous….but always enjoyable. Grab a glass of fine Bourbon…….dim the lights down low & enjoy the trip with Cass Greaves.
