Bill was born and raised in New York City, and played and recorded with Eddie "Bluesman" Kirkland for 12 years, and the Tom Russell Band for 10 years. Along the way, he worked with such diverse artists as Lightning Hopkins and Nancy Griffith.

After moving to Oslo Norway in 1997, Billy T ran the house band at the Muddy Waters blues club for 7 years, helping to launch the young Norwegian talents Amund Maarud and Kid Andersen (now with Rick Estrin & the Nightcats). At Muddy Waters they had the opportunity to back up a respectable number of famous blues musicians, including Homesick James, Nappy Brown, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Bill Sims and Tad Robinson, to name a few.

Muddy's has closed, but the band plays on. As well as William (Bill) Troiani on the bass and vocals, the Billy T Band packs a lot of talent in Ian Fredrick Johannessen and Håkon Høye on guitars, and the eminent drummer Robert Alexander Pettersen (the youngest member of the band). Years of gigs has earned the band friends and fans from as far away as Moscow and New York City, with Oslo in the middle.

The 2nd BILLY T BAND CD continues in the same vein as their debut album (A Little Mixed Up – BIGHCD0701), with a collection of songs steeped in Classic American Soul, Blues, R&B and Swamp Rock. This time the main focus is on the original songs written by BILLY T and the band, and as on the first CD, cover versions of a few obscure nuggets from Bill’s ”wasted youth”. In addition, there is Sven Zetterberg, (Sweden’s, and maybe Europe’s, most soulful blues singer), singing two killer duets with Bill and playing some of his trademark ”low down” guitar. The Award winning (Spellemann 2010/Norwegian Grammy for best blues album 2010) 2nd album from Billy T Band is filled with obscure covers of hidden gems and killer originals. Blues, soul and 60's rock elements seasoned with New Orleans flavours.

”Mo-Billy-T”: Billy T Band's third CD, "Mo'-Billy-T", is out! Following the success of their second CD, "L.O.V.E.", (winner of the 2010 Norwegian Grammy - Spellemannprisen), their new recording has taken the better part of a year to complete and includes five new original songs as well as some obscure covers.
The rather dubious pun, "Mo-Billy-T", was culled from the pack of title candidates by the very undubious James Harman with the words, "that's a winner" - or something to that effect - so you can blame him. It could have been "Rocka-Billy T", "Relia-Billy T", "Responsa-Billy T", you get the idea, but please feel free to call it whatever you like, just so long as you give it a spin!

Excerpt from the liner notes:
"........ the aptly titled Mo-Billy-T album, is his third release and the most fully realized so far. He has superb musical and songwriting support from his band - Alex on drums and Håkon Høye and Ian Fredrick Johannesenon guitars, plus a few other prominent fellow Norwegian musicians guesting in the studio. Håkon at Big H Records has engineered and produced. It all sounds beautiful and it sums up what Billy T is about......." ~Øyvind Pharo

William Troiani, Bill or Billy among friends, was born in New York City, NY in 1949. He started playing the bass when he was 11, and was quickly turned on to RnB and Blues. By the time he reached his twenties, he was playing music full time. While still situated on the American east coast he toured and/or recorded with such diverse artists as Eddie Kirkland and Tom Russell.

Since moving to Norway, just over a decade ago, Bill Troiani has established himself as one of Scandinavia's premier bassplayers for RnB, Blues and Roots Music. He has played with virtually the entire Norwegian music elite, and has been a permanent member of both Amund Maarud's and Vidar Busk's touring bands. In '99, Bill Troiani founded the Muddy Waters Blues Club's houseband together with Kid Andersen, Charlie Musselwhite's current guitarist. He led the houseband until the fall of '06. Backing international artists like Nappy Brown, Homesick James, Lazy Lester, Marva Wright and Bill Sims Jr. to name a few.
