JeConte is primarily known as a blues rock singer and harmonica player. He's based out of the San Francisco Bay area and is in a dizzying number of bands. He's probably best well know for his band JeConte & the Mali Allstars who had an album called Mali Blues which did well on the World Music charts.
But now he's teamed up with Anders Osborne, who's a mainstay of the New Orleans blues/rock scene. And somehow these two have produced Down By The Bayou. It's one of the most amazing Cajun-ish, swamp-rock-ish albums I've heard in a while. JeConte's harmonica and gravelly voice are paired with Osborne's 3am jam-band approach to music to make. It's like after the old folks in the suspenders have packed up their squeeze boxes for the night and headed off to bed, the take the stage and get down to business, finding the music in the mud and the dark of night. ~Calvin Powers
