Ivan Galic (Guitar); Falco Borzinni (Bass); Wolf Wolff (Drums); Hansi Enzenspreger (Hammond); Alexander Donnelly (Vocals&Guitar).

"News" is the first album of the thoroughbred Blueser from Munich and occurs with a matter of course and a played and felt musical and playful routine that Donnelly would have taken three dozen albums more. Playful warmth, courageous rock solos, earthy vocals, catchy and wonderfully creaking blues aesthetics and occasional sound swarms for New Age, bombast rock, beat and rock'n'roll are the salt in the soup of the very American-looking album that including things like reggae, to make a point: good music is good music. Point.

Supported by guitarist Ivan Galic, drummer Wolf Wolff, bassist Falco Borzinni and keyboarder Hansi Enzensperger, singer, composer, guitarist and front man Alexander Donnelly makes music here is aware of their central musical theme Blues, but at no point stoically refuses to look beyond the much-quoted box: "News" the Donnelly Connection can be crisp funk breaks as in "Music" or Blaxploitation moments ("Learn To Live") as well as the aforementioned reggae weights, pointed rock intermissions, delicate jazz and jazz fusion treats, instant pop aesthetics or the very charming, atmospheric, retrospective esoteric haze and so on the spirit of the seventies.

What remains as a cross-song impression of "News" by Donnelly Connection, the band of Alexander Donnelly, incidentally son of Oberammergau folk actor Edi Bierling, is alone one thing: a handfester character - a format. Which album can say that today ?! ~Holger S. Jansen (Translated from German.)
