This 55-track 3 CD collection focuses on the blues and R ‘n’ B recordings of Chris Farlowe from 1985 to 2008 demonstrating Farlowe’s powerful voice undiminished by the years since 1960s hits such as the chart topping ‘Out Of Time’. After bringing the house down at clubs such as Soho’s mod hangout The Flamingo with his band The Thunderbirds and recording a 1965 version of ‘Stormy Monday Blues’ that has been called the greatest British blues record, Chris Farlowe signed to Immediate for a series of timeless solo hits before periods singing with Colosseum and Atomic Rooster.

In the 1980s he returned to the blues and Disc One features tracks drawn from Chris Farlowe & The Thunderbirds’ excellent albums ‘Out Of The Blue’ (1985) and ‘Born Again’ (1986), both produced by Mike Vernon, a pivotal figure in British blues, who produced John Mayall and Eric Clapton and founded the Blue Horizon label that released Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac’s early albums. Farlowe’s version of the Green written ‘Man Of The World’ is also included and is one of many standouts here.

Disc Two cherry picks from Farlowe’s impressive solo albums ‘Waiting In The Wings’ (1992), ‘The Voice’ (1998), ‘Glory Bound’ (2000), ‘Farlowe That!’ (2003) and ‘Hotel Eingang’ (2008). Highlights include Farlowe being joined by his friend Van Morrison, Farlowe’s brilliant version of his friends’ the Small Faces’ chart topper ‘All Or Nothing’ and a duet between Chris and Elkie Brooks on the Stax classic, ‘Private Number’. Paul Jones of Manfred Mann plays harmonica on a great take on Solomon Burke’s ‘Cry To Me’ and Humble Pie’s Clem Clempson plays guitar on ‘I Want To Do Everything For You’.

Disc Three includes 15 powerhouse live tracks with the Norman Baker Band, the Thunderbirds and with Roy Herrington and The Rhythm ‘N’ Blues Train. Chris revisits his hits ‘Out Of Time’ and ‘Handbags and Gladrags’ and gives definitive renditions of T Bone Walker’s ‘Stormy Monday’, B.B. King’s ‘Thrill Is Gone’ and Bobby Bland’s ‘Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City’.

Chris Farlowe (born John Henry Deighton, 13 October 1940) is an English rock, blues and soul singer. He is best known for his hit single “Out of Time”, which rose to #1 in the UK Singles Chart in 1966, and his association with Colosseum and the Thunderbirds.

Remastered by Eroc, this 55-track set includes 16 previously unreleased live recordings. Focusing on Chris Farlowe's 60s output, over 50 newly remastered Mono recordings across three CDs chart the story of one of the premier voices of UK R&B/Rock and featuring Dave Greenslade and Albert Lee. Includes singles and EP tracks from 1962-1965, BBC sessions including several new-to-CD and a previously unreleased live show from 1965 recorded at London's iconic Flamingo Club. With a career spanning over six decades, Chris Farlowe remains one of the UK's most powerful song stylists. His 1966 No.1 hit 'Out Of Time' propelled him into international pop consciousness but it was his solid R&B credentials and soulful vocals, honed over years of live performing with his band the Thunderbirds, which continue to resonate with fans and collectors to this day. Chris Farlowe was one of the hottest young British artists to emerge from the Sixties R&B club scene, much admired by Tom Jones and Mick Jagger. Farlowe's band the Thunderbirds included top class musicians, notably guitarist Albert Lee and keyboard virtuoso Dave Greenslade, always given generous solo space to match Farlowe's powerful vocals.

The live sound of the group in action is captured on this 2 CD set of historic radio show recordings. Among the 27 tracks rescued from the BBC archives, are such seminal performances as Rockin Pneumonia & The Boogie Woogie Flu, Mr. Pitiful, Think, Ride On Baby and Paint It Black.

Out of the Blue marked Chris Farlowe's return to American soul music and blues, after a decade-long hiatus caused by a road accident injury and a series of gigs with other players. It was as though he'd picked up right where he'd left off at Immediate Records in 1970, without skipping a beat -- opening with Willie Dixon's "I Ain't Superstitious," he sounds so American and so black that listeners could still do double-takes after 20 years in the spotlight for the singer. "The Thrill Is Gone" and "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City" are among the best cuts, but the whole album is worthwhile and then some. ~by Bruce Eder

Born Again was the second phase of Chris Farlowe's return to recording after almost a decade away from his own career -- the production is more opulent than the sound on its predecessor, Out of the Blue, but he still holds his own as the blackest-sounding white soul singer most of us have ever heard. The Hamburg Blues Band (HBB) came to be after a jam session in "Onkel Pö" 1983. The last remaining founding member is Gert Lange on rhythm guitar.

The list of top tier musicians that has played alongside Gert in the HBB is long. Among them David "Clem" Clempson (Colosseum, Humble Pie), Alex Conti (Atlantis, Lake), and saxophone virtuoso Dick Heckstall-Smith (Bluesbreakers), to name a few. In the last few years the band sound has taken a noticeable turn towards psychedelic blues-rock, partly due to Miller Anderson taking on the lead guitar. On their homepage the band confesses that their blues "frequently staggers the purists". HBB combines tough guitar blues-rock with R&B, Boogie, Soul and the occasional psychedelic element.

The HBB core, beside the guitarist Lange, is Hans Wallbaum (drums), Michael "Bexi" Becker (bass) and Adrian Askew (keyboard). An unofficial "sixth member" behind the curtains is the songwriter Pete Brown, who has penned classics like "White Room" and "Sunshine of your Love" for Cream.

For their extended 30th anniversary tour HBB took on the Scottish singer Maggie Bell. Maggie has been in business for more than 55 years by now, with a career as a solo artist, in TV productions and in various bands. Most famous among the bands is probably Stone the Crows, whose saga ended tragically when the guitarist was electrocuted on stage in 1973. After spending 20 years in the Netherlands Maggie moved back to the UK in 2006 and joined The British Blues Quintet. Parallel to that she toured with Chris Farlowe and with The Manfreds. She was also part of the Jon Lord Blues Project, where Miller Anderson participated as well.

Miller Anderson has been touring with the HBB since 2012. We are particularly happy to finally greet him on stage at the Blueslawine, after the unfortunate cancellation of his planned performance at the 17th Blueslawine in 2011 due to a health issue. An attempt to list all the bands the Scottish guitarist has played in would be a daunting task, but to pick a few: The Keef Hartley Band, Savoy Brown and the Spencer Davis Group. Miller (born in 1945) began his musical career in the mid 60's and performed at the Woodstock festival 1969 with the Keef Hartley Band. His first solo album hit the shelves in the early 70's.

HBB's latest CD is "Friends for a LIVEtime", a compilation of performances over 30 years.

Out of the Blue marked Chris Farlowe's return to American soul music and blues, after a decade-long hiatus caused by a road accident injury and a series of gigs with other players. It was as though he'd picked up right where he'd left off at Immediate Records in 1970, without skipping a beat -- opening with Willie Dixon's "I Ain't Superstitious," he sounds so American and so black that listeners could still do double-takes after 20 years in the spotlight for the singer. "The Thrill Is Gone" and "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City" are among the best cuts, but the whole album is worthwhile and then some. ~Bruce Eder

It has been a long way from the Johnny Burns Rhythm & Blues Quartet to this new re-release. John Deighton, more commonly known as Chris Farlowe, was the singer of the John Henry Skiffle Group, Atomic Rooster, Colosseum and of course the Thunderbirds.

In 2001 together with the Norman Beaker Band (who has worked on stage and in the studio with Van Morrison, Alexis Corner, Chuck Berry, B.B.King, Buddy Guy and of course Chris Farlowe to name a few) Chris Farlowe recorded the album "The Voice." The formation was strengthened through the exceptional Clem Clempson (Colosseum, Humble Pie) on guitar.

"Hotel Eingang", another great album, was released in 2008 but this time with Miller Anderson (Keef Hartley Band, T.Rex, Savoy Brown, Chicken Shack, Mountain and Spencer Davis Group) on the guitar.

These carefully remastered albums witness that Chris Farlowe is without a doubt one of the best singers Great Britain has ever had.

No, Chris Farlowe can no longer remember Schauburg in Bremen. But when he heard the recording from the 7 October 1985 concert, the brain of the "Thunderbirds" was astonished and impressed: "I didn't know how good we were!" Not only was the 5-piece band in peak form, but so was the singer. Due to its sharp quality the Radio Bremen recording was just as impressing. The Repertoire was a magnificent mix of blues, rock, and rock 'n roll, given how enthusiastic the audience's resonance was. For the first time an entire Thunderbirds show will be released as an impressive double album. Chris Farlowe's Thunderbirds consisted at the time of keyboarder Tim Hinkley, guitarist Mo Witham, bassist Tex Corner, drummer John "The Figure" Palmer, and saxophonist Martin Winner. Aside from the instrumental "Time is Tight" by Booker T., the repertoire consists of vocal performances honoring his voice acrobatics. His a capella version of Randy Newman's "I Think it's Going to Rain" sounds just as impressing as the interpretations of the classic "Ain't No Love in the Heart of the City," "Watch Your Step" or "Shakey Ground." After an hour and a half of the Thunderbirds one can only say: "The thrill is not gone, Mr. Farlowe!"

The first ever solo album from the former Bakerloo, Colosseum and Humble Pie lead guitarist. Clem’s history also includes guest musician appearances with The Hamburg Blues Band, Jack Bruce, Billy Cobham and Dave Sancious, Roger Waters, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Jon Anderson, Chris de Burgh, BB King and Bob Dylan.

Recorded in late 2012/early 2013 in Germany and the UK, here is a feast of classic guitar rock that will appeal to fans of well crafted, superbly performed and produced blues and hard rock. Good songs loaded with great guitar from this fine electric guitarist.

The title of the album refers to the controversy surrounding the relationship between the media, ‘celebrities’ and members of the general public, who often feel victimised by the sometimes ruthless attention of the press. Clem collaborated with legendary Cream lyricist Pete Brown on several of the original songs.

Features guest performances by Chris Farlowe and Maggie Bell and keyboardist Ronnie Leahy. (‘Route 69’ marks the reunion of Maggie and Ronnie, who began their careers together in the legendary Stone The Crows). Chris and Maggie also feature on a new version of ‘I Don’t Need No Doctor’, the Ray Charles classic that was such a massive hit at ‘live’ performances during Clem’s time with Humble Pie.

Clem and his excellent band will be touring Europe extensively from September 2013 onwards to promote this fantastic new album.
