Even though the name may not be familiar, people probably have heard of Jon Zeeman whether they know it or not. Allman Brothers Band and Susan Tedeschi fans might recognize the name. He has toured, recorded and performed with both.

Jon grew up outside of New York City and became obsessed with all things guitar. Same applied for those he admired which included Johnny Winter, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. By the time he was 13, he already decided that music would be his career. He first studied classical piano. He later went on to study music for two years at Ithaca College. In the mid 80’s Jon moved to New York City and started producing, doing session work, writing songs and working in his “Studio Z”. He started to perform and record with several groups in Scandinavia. By the 90’s, Jon was beginning to perform his own music. In 2003, he released his first CD titled “Still Life”. That was followed in 2008 by “Zeeland”. 2013 brings a new direction for Jon, his singing debut. “Down On My Luck” was released in June. It features ten original blues rocking tunes and one cover by Johnny Winter, “I Love Everybody”. It features his daughter Zoe on bass.

It’s a good batch of blues/rockers. Those who are fans of the Allman Brothers, Govt Mule or Tinsley Ellis will like this CD. In general fans of blues/guitar will like it. Clearly the CD is not groundbreaking, but Jon shows where his influences come from.
