Force of Will, like all of Dave’s albums, is a dynamic excursion of love, fun, joy and life which will please the blues-rock lover and beyond.

“Force of Will” opens up with the driving rock love shuffle I Love My Baby which is a blues rock ode to true love. The second track Big Block will flatten your head with the up-tempo boogie vibes which features Steve Morse band drummer Van Romaine and NJ bass legend Buddy Allen ( of Rick Derringer fame ). The next track that follows Hunger is a grinding swamp sex blues rock number that will get your hips moving to a love-sick trance. Track 4 is one of Dave’s favorite cuts on the album Why Can’t You Ever Treat Me Right is a heart wrenching slow bluesy plea for unrequited love and the guitar solo is scintillating! The title track Force of Will lands in the middle of the album which is a call to the times we live in today ‘The force of will keeps you going on’. You can hear Dave calling out to his woman on It’s Not Ok which will delight any blues listener featuring Norwegian blues kings Kåre Amundsen (drums) and Bjørn Hågset on bass. Force of Will abruptly takes a turn on track seven into NYC blues with the funky-jazzy Chloe & Otis co-written with Vlad Barsky. Dave lights up the album with his tribute to NY music legend Delmar Brown fittingly titled Delmar on track eight. This guitar cadenza will sear your soul! Instrumental Jack Ham Her is track nine and it will leave you feeling like you got hit by a Jack Hammer! It features Van Romaine (drums) and Erik Boyd on bass (Black 47). The final cut is the Otis Redding influenced sexy rocker Best I Can which has its roots in soul but served up NYC blues-rock style!

Dave is a lifelong New Yorker and currently resides in the lower east side Manhattan. His musical roots stretch deep being the son of successful NYC composer, arranger & producer Sammy ‘Forever’ Fields. ~RJ Frometa

Dave Fields new CD “UNLEASHED” is the next installment in the evolution of a blues rock master and beyond. “UNLEASHED” features seven live cuts that capture the pure fire of Dave Fields live and seven studio cuts that expose ever more Dave’s powerful, heart gripping song writing. Make no mistake about it. The gloves come off on “UNLEASHED”.

Like all Dave Fields CDs there are many flavors of music. Dave exposes his jazzier roots with a live version of his instrumental “Anticipating You” (track 1) and New York City Nights (track 13) and an all out blues grass rumble on “L.E.S. Hoedown” (track 14). Dave pays homage to his roots by doing his live renditions of the classics “Going Down” and the Hendrix classics “Hey Joe/Star Spangled Banner” as only Dave can do. “UNLEASHED” brought back some Dave Fields classics. A searing hot live version of “Better Be Good” (track 8) and a heart wrenching live slow blues “Pocket Full Of Dust” (track 10).
Dave, “one of my favorite tracks on this new CD is Jagged Line Pt 1&2. Lyrically it’s a window into how I grew up. The lyrics are blues, the music is rock. I’m SO excited to have recorded it with Van Romaine on drums (Steve Morse Band), Chris Tristram on bass (Great White) and the keyboard genius, Vlad Barsky on organ. I know I took some chances on these cuts but they turned out very powerful.”
The single, “Child Of The World” features a mainstay on Dave’s CDs Kenny Soule/drums, the masterful bassist Buddy Allen (Bruce Springsteen, Rick Derringer). Written after the tragic events in Paris. It’s a call to the single thread that binds us as human beings, love. Also featured on “UNLEASHED” are Lisa Sherman/vocals, Sam Bryant/drum (Kenny Wayne Shepherd), Andy Huenerberg/bass, Juan Pertuz/percussion and Dave Moore/drums. “UNLEASHED” will sure to thrill you and keep you on the edge of your seats.

“NY Boss Guitar Man” and 2012 NY Blues Hall Of Fame inductee Dave Fields has performed all over the world. His awards include: Best Self Produced CD 2006 at the IBC for producing BACK IN BLUESVILLE, 2009-2010 Mojo Boogie Award, Big City Blues Magazine Happy To Have The Blues Lifetime Achievement Award. Legendary British bluesman John Mayall recorded Dave’s song “Train To My Heart” on his CD “TOUGH”. Dave’s CD’s TIME’S A WASTIN’, ALL WOUND UP, DETONATION & ALL IN have all garnered international success.

Dave grew up in New York City the son of a noted gifted composer arranger producer Sammy “Forever” Fields. From the time Dave was young he grew up in his father’s recording studio being exposed to the best NYC studio musicians of the time and artists such as the likes of Sammy Kahn, Rupert Holmes and Stevie Wonder. After attending Berklee College of music, Dave was immersed in the NYC music scene as a composer/arranger/producer & first call guitarist/multi instrumentalist. Dave’s father made sure Dave was well schooled in not just the blues but also every style of music. Growing up in NYC exposed Dave to a “smorgasbord” of different music and instruments, piano being Dave’s first instrument. That list of instruments he plays soon grew to bass, upright bass, mandolin, banjo, pedal steel, ukulele and drums to name just a few. No more is that more apparent than on track 13 New York City nights where Dave plays every instrument except for violin (Gary Oleyar). You can see Dave’s keyboard prowess at his shows where he often doubles on piano and organ.

[5:23] 8. Not Gonna Let You Get Away
[3:19] 9. Got A Hold On Me
[3:55] 10. Thats All Right
[3:56] 11. Lovers Holiday

New York City native, Dave Fields presents his fourth studio album, All In, released on July 1, 2014. All in features help from many musicians that Fields has regularly worked with in the past, including: Andy Huenerberg and Tony Tino on bass, Kenny Soule on drums, Dave Keys on piano, and Vladimir Barsky on keys.

All In begins with “Changes In My Life,” a song about growing up and growing old. It’s a solid opening track. “Voodoo Eyes” gives Fields an opportunity to show off some excellent guitar riffs, but the lyrics are exactly what you would expect from a song titled “Voodoo Eyes”. Aside from being a bit cheesy, “Voodoo Eyes” is a fun listen. On “Let’s Go Downtown,” the guitar is easily the highlight of the song. The track is clean and easy to listen to.

All In strays a bit from the blues in “Dragon Fly.” The instrumentals are at their finest in this track. “Cross Road” is a very dark and grungy cover of “Crossroads” by Cream. Fields is able to pay respect to the original while giving it a new dark feel in his rendition. This is the first of two covers featured in All In. Fields’ professional level playing is definitely visible in this track.

“Wake Up Jasper” has a classic playful tone to it. It’s a track for fans of the down and dirty original blues. All In also features a live cover of the classic Led Zeppelin song “Black Dog.” Much like the previous cover of the album, Fields is able to totally revamp the sound of the song while still making it sound more than enjoyable. This version of “Black Dog” is lighter and funkier than the original. All In ends on a good note with “Lover’s Holiday.” This song is unplugged an raw. It sounds perfectly fitting for a live setting.

Although All In had a few bumps, overall it is a solid album. It encompasses some of the highlights of a handful of different genres of music and gives them a well tuned blues twist.
