Harmonicist, guitarist and singer, Amaury Faivre is an acoustic blues artist, with a 25 year career, and more than 1000 internships on 3 continents and a dozen countries.

Born in Besançon in France, he blew for the first time in his father's harmonica at the age of 8 , and he naturally started playing the music of the blues pioneers, listening to artists like Robert Johnson, Mississippi Fred McDowell or John Lee Hooker. .. Learning jazz and its complex harmony will make him a great improviser . He starts guitar and singing, and most of all the chromatic harmonica which has been a key element to his musical personality ever since. His career debut with the Prix du Public at the Jeunesses Muciales de France in Paris at the age of 15, and he rapidly joined local blues, jazz and rock bands. After a Bachelor of Musicology at the University of Besançon, and two years of jazz guitar studies at the University of Montreal , he came back to Europe and settled in Geneva .

He started the duo Electric Hat with Jean Rigo, singer of Les Infidèles, from blues to Soul Music, through Rock n'Roll and Jazz. Amaury begins a collaboration with the Geneva guitarist Yves Staubitz among the electric blues band Amaury Faivre & the Broken Harps with whom he records Ol' Days Feel in 2012. Later, Yves follows him in the acoustic Amaury Faivre Duo . It is with this duo that Amaury discovers a passion and a certain talent for composition, and they win the 2017 Swiss Blues Challenge . This award gives them the opportunity to represent Switzerland at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis where they obtain a beautiful place in the Semi-Finals, and they end up 4th at the European Blues Challenge in Norway. After a rich year with great European blues stages (Cahors, Sierre, Vallemaggia, Salaise...) they released Crazy Old Man , on the frontiers of blues, jazz and folk.

After years backed up by electric bands, acoustic duos or even a symphonic orchestra, he builds during the world pandemic the One Man Blues Show he offers today. In this perspective he releases the album 2020 , back to his early folk-blues roots influence, with no hesitation to handle the banjo and mandolin or hit hard a gloomy stomp-box!

Released in 2024, My Americana is a road trip though the USA, a tribute to this typically American genre which mixes blues, bluegrass and classic rock. He is accompanied by his drummer-percussionist longtime friend Julien Compagne, who follows him today, with Jean Rigo on double bass, in the brand new Amaury Faivre Trio .

Amaury Faivre represents the emotion of blues, the freedom of jazz and the energy of punk, a rare mastery of the harmonica which allows him to offer an intense and moving show, surprising and sincere.

Sugarcane Collins - Downunder The Blues

11. Line In The Sand (5:42)
12. Connect The Dots (4:22)

On this long-awaited follow-up to his acclaimed 2006 title Way Down The River, well-travelled far north Queensland-based blues troubadour Andy ‘Sugarcane’ Collins gets back to the concept of blues from a distinctly Aussie perspective that was manifest in his earlier releases. Comprising 10 original songs and a couple of old bush ballads cleverly rearranged into I-IV-V blues chord structure formats, Downunder The Blues is a well-produced CD showcasing Collins’ imaginative songwriting, sonorous voice and agile acoustic guitar picking. Although Collins employs a large cast of session players including noted blues harpists Andy Vogel and Jim Conway, slide and electric guitarist Kirk Lorange, and didgeridoo player David Hudson, the music is very much in the down-home solo/duo vein, excluding the ensemble-backed ‘Some Fool Done Stole My Mojo’ and ‘Flowers By The Roadside’.

Inspired by early infamous historical similarities between Australia and America, Collins’ opener ‘The Blues Downunder’ is something of a two-part folk/blues suite. It incorporates a traditional folk song describing the woes of convicts in early Australian times, and plaintive musical accompaniment to a series of monologues addressing the plight of indigenous Australians. Collins’ self-penned material is where the blues really kicks in. He reprises his nostalgic ode to the Brisbane tram era ‘Two To The Valley’ from his Lake Street Serenade album, and muses on themes relating to relationships, childhood days and environmental issues. His narratives framed in various blues styles from Delta to ragtime and the Piedmont, Collins is an Aussie master of the country blues. /Al Hensley

The festival was a turning point for the blues genre in Brazil and several national bands emerged, influenced by the sound of Blues Etílicos.

During this period, the Blues Etílicos was featured on several special programs on TV Culture, Headline Network and MTV in addition to having their music broadcasted widely on FM radio shows throughout the country. Blues Etílicos was the first and the main national band to create a loyal following in this segment, and because of this they participated in all the festivals connected to the blues music genre, sharing the stage with leading names in international blues that visited the country like B.B. King, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy and others.

Sugarpie & the Candymen began in 2008, when five musicians from Piacenza and Cremona – small towns in Northern Italy – decided to share their passion for swing, manouche jazz, blues, soul, pop, and vocal close harmonies. A band was born, with the challenge to marry all these musical styles.

The band is made up of singer Miss Sugarpie, aka Lara Ferrari, and her Candymen: Jacopo Delfini (gipsy guitar and harmonies), Renato Podestà (electric guitar, banjo and harmonies), Roberto Lupo (drums) and Jacopo Sgarzi (double bass). From 2008 to early 2016, the lead vocal chair was held by Georgia Ciavatta. Very soon the band became a full-time commitment, starting an intense tour in hundreds of jazz clubs around Italy and Europe.

This first period allowed Sugarpie and the Candymen to work out both their sound and their repertoire: their musical caleidoscope has the most diverse artists one close to the other, such as Led Zeppelin and Django Reinhardt, The Beatles and Bessie Smith, Van Halen and Benny Goodman, Guns 'n' Roses and Ray Charles, Queen and Peggy Lee and so on. In 2010 the band kept evolving and started writing and performing their original songs, both in Italian and English. They started playing the bigger stages of prestigious festivals all around Europe, and they even did a brief US tour.

Sugarpie and the Candymen have released three albums under the IRMA Records label: the first, eponymous, "Sugarpie And The Candymen" in 2009, the second one "Swing'n'Roll" in 2011 and the third "Waiting For The One" in 2014. To further enhance their sound, the band had the opportunity to collaborate both live and in the studio with some brilliant Italian and American musicians, such as Michael Supnick, Dean Zucchero, Paolo Tomelleri, Rudy Migliardi, Gregory Agid, Davide Ghidoni, Gianni Di Benedetto and Mattia Cigalini.

10. 61 Highway (3:13)

When Mississippi Fred McDowell proclaimed on one of his last albums, "I do not play no rock & roll," it was less a boast by an aging musician swept aside by the big beat than a mere statement of fact. As a stylist and purveyor of the original Delta blues, he was superb, equal parts Charley Patton and Son House coming to the fore through his roughed-up vocals and slashing bottleneck style of guitar playing. McDowell knew he was the real deal, and while others were diluting and updating their sound to keep pace with the changing times and audiences, Mississippi Fred stood out from the rest of the pack simply by not changing his style one iota.

Though he scorned the amplified rock sound with a passion matched by few country bluesmen, he certainly had no qualms about passing any of his musical secrets along to his young, white acolytes, prompting several of them - including a young Bonnie Raitt - to develop slide guitar techniques of their own. Although generally lumped in with other blues "rediscoveries" from the '60s, the most amazing thing about him was that this rich repository of Delta blues had never recorded in the '20s or early '30s, didn't get "discovered" until 1959, and didn't become a full-time professional musician until the mid-'60s. /Excerpt from biography by Cub Koda, AllMusic

Hailing from the moonshiner hills of Brown County, Indiana, this blend of smooth bourbon blues is a mix of rock, folk, soul, and blues. There are heavy flavors of European blues rock titans Eric Clapton and Gary Moore, While leading from behind the piano, she is often compared to Tori Amos, or Adele. But when fronting a full band with dramatic intensity she's compared more to Janis Joplin or Beth Hart.

Regionally recognized with the Southern Indiana Blues Society People's Choice Award, and winner of The Kentuciana Blues Society Blues Challenge, Amanda Webb Band headlines local festivals and reaches a devoted fan base.

Amanda studied and performed musical theatre from a young age and went on to study Opera at Interlochen Arts Academy. She continued her studies and graduated from the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Opera program. She's studied and attended master classes with a multitude of incredible singers including Cheryl Studer, Richard Miller, Virginia Zeani, Martina Arroyo, Costanza Cuccaro, Patricia Havranek, Teresa Kubiack, and others. For many years since Amanda has run a private voice and piano teaching studio while raising her family.

Anyone lucky enough to stumble across Little Buster's 1995 debut album for Bullseye Blues might well have been asking themselves, "Where's this guy been all this time?" The answer: for the last three decades or so, the blind guitarist has been serving up his soulful brand of blues around his adopted home of Long Island, NY, with his band, the Soul Brothers.

Edward "Little Buster" Forehand was born on September 28, 1942 in Hereford, NC. He left the North Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind when he was 16 years old, moving to New York and breaking into the local R&B scene almost immediately. Buster recorded sparingly during the '60s, waxing the Doc Pomus-penned "Young Boy Blues" for Jubilee in 1967. But the world-at-large remained ignorant of Buster's impressive command of the soul and blues lexicons until 1995, when Right on Time! blew onto the contemporary scene like an unexpected breath of fresh air. Looking for a Home followed in 1997. While his recorded output has unfortunately been sparse, Buster continues to tour consistently playing clubs and festivals throughout the world. /Biography by Bill Dahl, AllMusic

Frank Robinson was born in the red clay country of Crockett on June 24, 1932. Frank was a nephew of Lightnin' Hopkins and his wife Katie Mae. As a boy, he carried Lightnin's and Frankie Lee's guitars to their respective performances. The two Texas Blues giants patiently taught young Frank their tricks and he began seconding them at country suppers, fairs and piney woods juke joints. Mr. Robinson's style reflects his mentors, along with the music of other Texas Blues innovators such as Little Son Jackson and Smokey Hogg. One of Frank Robinson's most vivid memories is of relatives playing Blind Lemon Jefferson records until they wore out.

"Guitar" Curtis Colter was also born in Crockett, Texas on August 12, 1940. He grew up with the blues. His father, Charlie Colter and his uncle Raymond Colter were both accomplished blues guitarists. Raymond Colter, is now in his 80's and resides in Houston, Texas. He spent many years working with Lightnin' Hopkins in Houston (Fourth Ward). He now performs in his local church in Houston Sunnyside District. However, Guitar Curtis' main mentor and musical associate has been Frank Robinson. They regularly performed at local functions during the late 50's and early 60's.

Australian slide guitarist Dave Hole is noted for his energetic, high-volume rock & roll/blues music and unusual playing style. Though left-handed, Hole plays guitar right-handed and developed a technique to compensate for a finger injury in which he places his fingers over the top of the neck. He also uses a pick for a slide and utilizes fingerpicking when playing normally.

Born on March 30, 1948, in England, but raised from age four in Perth, Australia, Hole became interested in blues guitar around age six after hearing a schoolmate's Muddy Waters album. He received his first guitar at age 12, but became discouraged trying to learn it by himself (teachers were in short supply in isolated Perth) and abandoned it until he was 16. This time, he began picking up riffs and techniques from records. Primary influences include Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, and Mississippi Fred McDowell.

Hole became a professional in 1972 when working with a band in London. Returning to Perth in 1974, he began his long stint touring the western Australian club circuit, playing 20 years in remote towns before making Short Fuse Blues, an album he financed, produced, and recorded with his band Short Fuse in three days in 1990. He then hawked the album during club performances and on a whim, sent a copy to Guitar Player magazine in the U.S. The editor listened to it, liked it, wrote a praise-filled article hailing him as the newest guitar wizard and comparing him to such greats as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King.

He then helped Hole land a distribution deal with Alligator Records and released Working Overtime (1993), Steel on Steel (1995), Under the Spell (1999), and Outside Looking In (2001). With each new release, Dave Hole continues to build a respectable following in the U.S. and European blues scene that grows stronger every year. /Biography by Sandra Brennan, AllMusic

Chino, also known as "Chino Swingslide" is the alter ego of Hernán Senra (born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1980), a multi-faceted artist based in Barcelona since 2001 who acts as a solo musician, composer, arranger and showman. An outstanding guitarist, especially with the resophonic variety and applying the ‘slide’ style, he has an innate ability to make the audience vibrate in his shows and never go unnoticed. Chino fuses blues and swing with such disparate styles as gipsy, jazz, tango, bolero, flamenco and South American folklore, and has performed in European and American venues and festivals with great success.

Tota (Flavio Rigatozzo), harmonica player and blues singer, was born on February 8th 1974 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He discovered the blues after his teens and embraced it as a way of life. Since 1995 he has led TotaBlues, a band that recreates the traditional blues of the 50s, 60s and 70s, recalling works by authors and performers such as Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Willie Dixon, Little Walter, Louis Jordan and others. In addition, TotaBlues has its own compositions in Spanish, without neglecting the style and sound of those years.

Frank “Sugar Chile” Robinson was one of the first African American child stars to become a household name. Born in Detroit in 1938, he was a self-taught piano prodigy by the age of three. At age seven, Sugar Chile performed for President Truman at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. He was the first African American artist to ever be invited. Only a kid, Sugar Chile had a record deal, Billboard chart spots, a gig with Count Basie’s orchestra, and movie appearances at a time when few African Americans were seen on the big screen.

Sugar Chile returned to school in the ‘50s and his fame faded, but his legacy remained. In 2016, President Obama invited him back to the White House Correspondents Dinner to celebrate 70 years since his first groundbreaking appearance there. But by that point, Frank was struggling with his health and finances, and had little left to his name after a devastating house fire. The small apartment he shares with his niece had no beds, let alone a piano.

In 2017, Music Maker got word that Frank was days from eviction and struggling to get by. Dedicated to preserving American roots music by supporting its elderly artists, Music Maker immediately added Frank to their monthly sustenance program and began work to set up his disability benefits. They shipped two beds to his home, and put the word out to get a keyboard donated to Frank. After all these years, Sugar Chile plays again.

In her adolescence, Amanda Fish retreated to her own room to practice her singing while her younger sister, Samantha Fish, did likewise to play her guitar. Their original inspiration came from their parents; their mother, a classically trained mezzo-soprano, violinist and pianist was the director of a local Kansas City church choir, and their father played his guitar with friends. Initially hearing recordings of Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Ray Vaughan, they later heard music from Tom Petty and the Rolling Stones. The sisters were both drawn towards blues music in their teenage years. However, Amanda did not commence writing or performing until 2012. She first performed solo in a singer-songwriter vein, before forming her own band in 2014. The following year she released her debut album, Down in the Dirt, on VizzTone Records, for which she was honored with the Sean Costello Rising Star Award from Blues Blast magazine. On Down in the Dirt, her band consisted of Amanda Fish (vocals, guitar), Sean McDonnell (vocals, guitar), Cole Dillingham (vocals, guitar, bass) and Kristopher Schenbelen (drums). The latter previously played as part of Trampled Under Foot. Fish wrote all the material, although four of the songs were co-written with McDonnell.

Fish and her band reached the semi-finals of the 2017 International Blues Challenge. The same year, Fish was featured on the Homegrown Buzz Showcase on KRBZ radio station. Fish toured with her band, before returning to the recording studio to produce her sophomore album, Free, which was released in her own name in September 2018. The album included contributions from her fellow Vizztone label mates, Tyler Morris and Bob Margolin. Free debuted at number 6 in the Billboard Blues Albums Chart. "The Ballad of Lonesome Cowboy Bill" was the first single released from Free. At the 40th Blues Music Awards, it was named the Best Emerging Artist Album.

In 2018, Fish appeared at the Briggs Farm Blues Festival. Her band has also appeared in 2018 at the Mimbres Region Arts Council Silver City Blues Festival, in 2019 at the Michael Arnone Crawfish Festival and in 2021 at the WC Handy Blues Festival. Other, perhaps smaller but no less notable venues and festivals include: The Durango Blues Train Music Festival in 2018, Al Bum's Concert Patio in 2018, Whiskey Rebellion Festival in 2018, Riverfront Blues Fest in 2018, Hill Fest Blues in 2020, Camping With The Blues in 2018 and 2020, and Canadian Blues venues; Sault Blues Society in 2019, Blues on Whyte, Buds on Broadway and the Blues Can.

Starting in 2020 and extending into 2021, Amanda and her husband recorded a CD of all new material in her makeshift home studio.

Frankie Spellman - Blues Without A Net

File: Flac

7. Glad You're Gone (5:18)
8. The Wandering Eye (4:42)
9. Sweet Lovin' Woman (4:47)
10. Bad Vegetables (3:08)

Frankie Spellman did his first club gig when he was only 8 years old. Playing trombone and singing in his dysfunctional family band. By the time he hit high school, Spellman understood the trombone would not fuel his rock-and-roll dreams so he wisely switched to guitar and focused on song writing. Upon graduating High School, Frankie’s father, (a prominent Boston Surgeon) suggested that Frankie attend tractor trailer driving school. Frankie however, yearned to attend Berklee College of Music. But, as his dad saw it, going to college for music was like going to Italy for a slice of pizza. No necessaryio. Frankie convinced his parents to let him attend Emerson College in Boston. At Emerson Frankie excelled in Film and Fine Arts.

After graduation, Spellman moved to L.A. to become an actor. One day Frankie got his shot at stardom and auditioned for the part of a young Nazi Captain running a concentration camp. When the cast watched Frankie’s playback, tears were flowing. Not because Frankie’s acting was so good, but because everyone found him hysterical. “It’s not that you suck,” the casting director told a dismayed Frankie, “The stuff that comes out of you is just, funny. I think it’s in your eyebrows?” “Oh yeah!” a pissed off Frankie barked back, “ You sick bastards find the holocaust is funny?” That only made the cast and crew laugh harder.

Frankie gave up on acting, moved back east and joined a wedding band. That band was where he got to work with his musical soul mate, Stevie Buzzell. Frankie recalled in a recent interview, “Stevie and I hated most of the songs we had to play. But we still rocked our asses off. I quit after a year. The real magic happened when Stevie and I started writing together.

I was a good songwriter but not a technically strong musician. As I matured, this ceased to matter. I play well enough to lay down what I hear in my head on several instruments. Stevie’s musicianship and love of chord construction works perfectly with my passion for melody and lyrics. Spellman continued. “We started writing some really good songs. “

Frankie still held on to his dream of making it. His music was heard by L.A. record producer, Jeff Weber. “Jeff was producing Kenny Rankin and David Benoit around the time he called me. I’ll never forget the two words he used to describe my songs, ‘refreshingly funny!’ I was about to hang up on the rat bastard when he said, ‘Let’s make a record with, and he listed the best session players on the planet. I looked down and noticed a puddle on the floor…. I had peed myself. JVC records signed me and the details were to be worked out. Jeff and I became friends and were really pumped about the CD. The day I got out to L.A., JVC dropped me for a rap artist.”

Frankie’s went back to playing solo. His low point was performing his music at a charity held at a McDonalds. A gig Frankie calls, “The McSuckfest.” After that gig Frankie played at a crab house in Florida where he couldn’t be heard over the banging of the claw cracking mallets. Frankie wrote his 4th CD, “Blues Without a Net.” Which is as good a CD as you could ever own. But since Frankie was not a sanctioned “ blues artist,” by the blues powers that be, he got squat for airplay. One of the tunes on the cd, “Holy Hell,” was picked up by a ski company and used on a national commercial. A friend talked about the success Frankie had with Holy Hell to a media music company in L.A. They asked Frankie and Stevie to write background tunes for shows such as, The Simple Life with Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie and the crappy reality show, “Starting Over.”

Frankie Spellman is a tough guy to pin down, musically. Sometimes he's warm and fuzzy singer-songwriter type. Sometimes he's a keen, detached observer, commenting on hipster chic. Sometimes he's funny, sometimes he's mean. His influences range from Hoagy Carmichael to Tom Waits. "Blues Without a Net," is one of my favorite CD’s of all time. With lyrics like, “I must have to been on crack the day I made you my wife.” How can you not love his music? - Cogs Baitwell 2007

Frankie Spellman has recorded 5 cd’s. "Pastels in Shade" in 1991, "Bongo Cafe" in 1994 and "Dreams in the Tide" in 1998 - “Blues Without a Net” in 2001 and “Spellbound in 2004.” He and Stevie Buzzell own Spellman/Buzzell Media Music a.k.a. writersofmusic.com They have recently composed the score for the upcoming Canobie Films movie, “Hats Off.” He lives in Juno Beach, Florida with his wife and two children. He is a music teacher at a private school. And he has vowed to never act again.

When the oldest continuously running blues society in the world says you're the "real deal", that has to mean something. When blues forums toss your name around with the likes of harmonica masters like Little Walter and Sonny Boy ... that has to mean something. Of course, there will always be skeptics; but to the blues fans of the northeast Unites States, there is no doubt that at just 26 years old, Mikey Jr. is chasing the masters at a pace that's frightening.

Growing up on the tough streets of Trenton, New Jersey, Mikey Jr. is a self-taught prodigy. With his impressive collection of vintage tapes, cd's, records, and videos, Mikey spent the better part of his youth immersing himself in the world of blues music. By the time he was twenty-one, he was allready a road-tested player, making even a ardent blues purists, take notice. Since that time, Mikey Jr. has released an impressive four cd's as well as a documentary DVD. He's been praised by blues societies as wall as players for his origional take on 'old school' styles.

Mikey Jr. never set out to re-write the pages of blues history, but through his true love of the music and his undying dedication to the masters that came before him, it seems all but certain that Mikey Jr. will scribe his name in the annals of blues history - right along side the very masters that influence his every performance.

Flávio Guimarães is a harmonica player, singer and Brazilian blues pioneer. In his two decades lasting career, he has released 19 CDs - nine solo albums and ten as part of Brazil's premier blues-rock band "Blues Etílicos". Flávio has opened shows for B.B. King and Robert Cray. He has shared the stage with Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Charlie Musselwhite, Sugar Blue and Rick Estrin & the Nightcats among others. Besides, as special guests in some of Flávio's albums Howard Levy, Charlie Musselwhite and Sugar Blue can be listed. In addition recordings of top Brazilian artists, television commercials and film and television soundtracks feature Flávio playing the harmonica.

Guimarães is considered to be the harmonica reference in Brazil - on the one hand due to his pioneering work with the blues diatonic harmonica, on the other hand due to his consistently evolving playing and the passing on of harmonica information. A whole generation of harmonica players was taught by Flávio, beginning the blues harp movement in Brazil.

Giles Robson & John Primer - Ten Chicago Blues Classics

Album: Ten Chicago Blues Classics
Size: 90,2 MB

Released: 2024
Styles: Chicago blues, harmonica blues

1. Blow Wind Blow (4:18)
2. My Babe (2:28)
3. Rollin' Stone (3:26)
4. Juke (Instrumental) (2:20)
5. Let Me Explain (2:44)
6. Long Distance Call (4:30)
7. Dealin' With The Devil (4:44)
8. Got My Mojo Workin' (Instrumental) (5:42)
9. Bad Boy (4:21)
10. Last Night (Instrumental) (4:15)

Giles Robson is one of the most respected harmonica players around at the moment, standing tall amongst the likes of Charlie Musselwhite and Jason Ricci. John Primer is an American Chicago blues and electric blues singer and guitarist who played behind Junior Wells in the house band at Theresa's Lounge and as a member of the bands of Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters and Magic Slim before launching an award-winning career as a solo artist. He is also a multiple Grammy nominee, Blues Music, Blues Blast and Living Blues Award winner, Blues Hall of Fame inductee.

If you want to get to the very heart of Chicago Blues, you won’t need to look much further than this pairing. Tracks from Muddy Waters, Little Walter, both Sonny Boy Williamsons and one by Eddie Taylor, all of them classics and, in this format, very much for those who enjoy Chicago Blues without any effects or embellishments. Primer’s guitar is clean and tuneful while Robson blows a harp with apparent simplicity – something that only the best can manage.

All of the tracks are true to the heart of the blues and true to the originals but the two put their own skills and style into every track. The version of Muddy Waters ‘Rollin’ Stone’ is spare and the music has a brilliant edge to it with a fine vocal from Robson, sung rather shouted as Muddy himself was prone to do. Little Walters ‘My Babe’ (written by Willie Dixon) has been covered hundreds of times but this version sounds fresh and eminently listenable.

‘Let Me Explain’ by Sonny Boy Williamson II (he was active at the same time as a Delta player by the same ‘name’ so was generally called II) is remarkably true to the original with Robson’s harmonica very close and a great choppy sound from Primer. There is also a version of Sonny Boy Williamson I’s ‘Dealing With The Devil’ that has a more Delta feel to it. All ten tracks are true Chicago Blues in style and the playing of both artists is superb. It is modern but classic – a worthy album that any real blues lover should want. /Andy Snipper, Music-News

I was privileged to see Frankie Moreno's show at the Stratosphere before it closed in December. As usual, it was a fantastic show full of excellent entertainment and phenomenal musicianship. I am eager to hear where he and the band will land next, and I hope it is a bit further south on the strip. I have attended many of his shows over the past 15 years or so and have watched Frankie and his band move around the city, improving their venue and show. It has been fun to watch the band transform into a true headline show He and his band put on one of the best shows in Las Vegas, and they deserve to move to a location where more people can discover what a wonderful entertainment they provide. Every band member is talented, and each of them has time during the show to showcase their individual talents. They work together to provide support for one of the best singers and musicians in Las Vegas.

Nico Wayne Toussaint's shows are renowned for their energy and infectious joy. Trained in the school of American blues clubs, which he has been attending since the age of 19, he has developed a unique approach to the stage where energy, charisma, harmonica and feeling are backed up by a tight and efficient band. Professional since 1998, he has recorded 14 albums under his own name, 12 of which were released on the Dixiefrog label. His tours have brought him new fans in France, Belgium, Holland, the United States, Canada, Spain, Italy, Germany, Macedonia, Ecuador, Nigeria, Syria, Tunisia and Morocco.

Nico is keen to take his blues wherever he is asked. He is as capable of performing as a duo for an intimate concert as he is of electrifying his music in a quartet or quintet in the spirit of the Chicago Blues of the great masters of the genre. He is also able to offer a big band version of his music, where the repertoire defended is that of the blues tinged with funk and soul of James Cotton to whom he paid tribute in a record released on Dixiefrog in 2017. Lately, Nico has also been performing solo guitar-harmonica-vocals and bringing to the stage a repertoire of street music, based on his original songs influenced by roots blues and gospel.

Working with American musicians has long been a school of the blues for Nico and his band. Together, they have toured with such guests as Cash Mc Call, David Maxwell, Monster Mike Welch, and Killer Ray Allison. Nico has recorded or worked with Rod Piazza, Guy Davis and Andrew Strong. During his American sojourns, he shared the stage with James Cotton, Billy Branch, RJ Mischo, Luther Allison, Eddie C. Campbell, Vance Kelly, Jimmy Burns, Jimmy Johnson and many other names in the Chicago scene.

Frankie Lee (April 29, 1941 – April 24, 2015) was an American soul blues and electric blues singer and songwriter who released six albums. His style has been compared to that of Otis Redding. The New York Daily News wrote that Lee had "one of the most energetic blues voices of any time or place".
Life and career Frankie Lee Jones was born in Mart, Texas. As a child, he sang gospel music in church. In 1963, he signed a recording contract with Peacock Records. Billed as Little Frankie Lee, he released three singles, including "Taxi Blues", a regional hit and his best-known song. After living with his friend Sonny Rhodes in Austin, Texas, Lee was recruited by Ike Turner to join the touring ensemble backing Ike & Tina Turner. Lee later said of that time, "I'll never forget it. I dug the music and the way they performed. Tina in particular just knocked me out. It was amazing how she would go out and grab an audience—that's what I wanted to do. So I would just sit back and take notes. I learned a lot." Lee then settled in Houston and worked with other musicians, including Big Mama Thornton, Ted Taylor, Junior Parker and Joe Hinton.

Lee befriended Albert Collins during this period, and in 1965, they both relocated to California, with Lee singing in Collins's band from that time until 1968. In 1971, Lee was signed to Elka Records, and his cousin, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, produced Lee's tracks. Also in 1971, "Little" Frankie Lee, as he was known at the time, performed regular gigs at Joe's Nairobi Lounge in East Palo Alto, across from the now defunct Nairobi Village Shopping Center. His band was known as "Little Frankie Lee and the Lee-ettes", sporting guitarist Robert Valdez and several female backup singers. In the late 1970s, Lee's backing ensemble included the young Robert Cray.

His first album, The Ladies and the Babies, was released by HighTone Records in 1984. The Allmusic journalist Thom Owens noted that "as one of the first albums on HighTone Records, the album helped set the stage for the numerous records and artists that teetered between soul and blues." Lee appeared at the Chicago Blues Festival with Sonny Rhodes, before relocating to New Jersey in 1986. He continued to perform live, gaining a growing reputation for the quality and energy of his live performances. Flying Fish Records released Lee's second album, Sooner or Later (1992), on which he was backed by Doug Newby and the Bluz Blasters, with a guest appearance by Lucky Peterson. Going Back Home (1994) was released by Blind Pig Records. Lee toured widely, playing at American music festivals and in Europe and Japan.

In 2004, Lee performed with Dan Treanor on the album African Wind. Lee's final album, Standing at the Crossroads, was released in 2006 by Blues Express. The album was produced by Dennis Walker, who had produced The Ladies and the Babies more than twenty years earlier. Lee was nominated for the Bay Area Blues Vocalist of the Year award. Lee died on April 24, 2015, in Sacramento, California, aged 73
