"The goal was to make something that was unexpected to the ear, something that was memorable but new. I wanted to use interesting arrangements and instrument combinations. Different players with different styles carefully put together with the right song. Some of the songs came from countless live jams and some were created on the spot in the studio. Some great performances from some of my favorite musicians were captured here. I am grateful for their inspiration.
The hope was to make something that was timeless, something greater than the sum of its parts. The album was built piece by piece from the ground up, every song unique and complete, yet tied together.
