Artur Menezes is a highly respected Brazilian blues rock guitarist, currently based in Los Angeles. Menezes headlined numerous festivals and toured across South America, Mexico and the UK before moving the US in 2016. He won the Gibson/Albert King Award for Best Guitarist at the Blues Foundation's 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, where he also took third place in the overall competition. In 2019 he was the Grand Prize Winner in a contest promoted by Ernie Ball, winning the opportunity to perform at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival. FADING AWAY, Menezes's fifth album (his second in the US), showcases his impressive guitar skills as well as his inspired singing and songwriting, with 10 original compositions. Produced by Josh Smith, the album features guest appearances by Smith as well as Joe Bonamassa. The guitar tones are distinctive, and the production features complex arrangements, layered guitar and background vocal tracks.

Winner of the 2018 Gibson/Albert King Award for Best Guitarist and third-place winner in the Band Category at the 2018 International Blues Challenge, Artur Menezes is a high-octane guitarist whose passion and emotion electrify crowds. Based in Los Angeles, the Brazilian artist is releasing his fourth album, Keep Pushing.

Artur plays traditional blues with mastery and respect, augmenting his sound with modern blues and creative applications of other genres. He was a lead educator about blues in his native Brazil, where he co-founded the Casa De Blues society, gave TED talks on the music, and helped organize weekly blues concerts. He enhanced his knowledge and skill during stints living in Chicago, where he jammed with the likes of Buddy Guy, John Primer and Linsey Alexander, among others, in legendary clubs including Kingston Mines, Smokey Daddy and Katheria’s.

In Brazil, Artur stood at the top of the blues music scene, headlining festivals, sharing the stage with Joe Satriani for a crowd of 20,000, and opening Buddy Guy’s South American 2012 tour in Brazil. Soon his fame spread through the Latin world, with tours of Mexico and Argentina. Europe followed, with a headlining spot at Estonia’s August Blues Festival and a tour of the U.K. In the U.S., Artur has opened for Grammy-winning Bobby Rush in L.A. and tied for top honors among more than 2000 artists from around the world competing for a place to play with Eric Clapton at the Crossroads Guitar Festival, one of the world’s largest guitar festivals. Most recently, he was featured on JITV HQ Los Angeles’s Jam in the Van; other featured artists have included Gary Clark Jr. and Marcus King.

Artur Menezes is a high-energetic guitarist and plays with such a feeling that impresses the crowds. Because of this has become known as “the new rising star of the blues in Latin America and beyond” and one of the most requested blues artists in Brazil.

In 2012, Artur played the openings for Buddy Guy's South American tour in Brazil. Artur lived in Chicago years ago and played in many blues clubs with great artists and also jammed with Buddy Guy.

In 2016, he was the headline of inumerous blues festivals in Brazil and he has been consolidated as one of the best musicians of his generation there. Artur was also the headline at Augusti Bluus Festival in Estonia and played in blues clubs in England in 2014. In 2015, Artur was on tour in Mexico twice and in 2013 he was on tour in Argentina. In 2012, Artur Menezes played the open acts for Buddy Guy's South American tour.

In 2013 Artur led the contest – tied with a band from Los Angeles – among more than 2000 artists from around the world for a place to play with Eric Clapton at the Crossroads Guitar Festival, one of the largest and busiest guitar festivals in the world, held at Madison Square Garden in NY.

Artur lived in Chicago for short periods of time in 2006, 2007 and 2011 and he had the opportunity to play in JAM Sessions with Buddy Guy, John Primer, Charlie Love & The Silky Smooth Band, Linsey Alexander, Phil Guy, Brother John, Jimmi Burns, Big Ray, among others, and in bars of great importance to the blues, like Kingston Mines, Smokey Daddy, Rosa’s, Vine Tastings and Katherina’s.

Concerned about disseminating and expanding access to blues in Brazil, Artur was one of the founders of the society “Casa do Blues” (House Of Blues), which promotes weekly shows with free entrance, remaining on the board of the project until early 2013.

He has three studio albums with original songs, one of the albums was pre-selected to the Brazilian Music Awards in the category of "best album in foreign language".
