Now based in Austin, Texas, Lara Price recorded the album partly in Texas and partly in the San Francisco Bay Area, hence its title.

“Half & Half was a way for me to honor the San Francisco Bay Area music family, because without them I wouldn’t be able to keep up in this Austin music scene,” said Lara Price. “The other ‘half’ is a representation of what I have learned so far, as I have soaked up eight years- worth of Austin music. I feel like I am just scratching the service as to what the Austin music scene is about and I look forward to putting that experience on my next album. Technically, the album was recorded 60% in Texas 40% in California with 22 musicians and three studios in two states,” she added about the recording sessions.

“Lara Price has been a fantastic artist for years,” said Mike Zito in announcing her signing. “She’s so deserving of a national audience. Her voice is soulful and righteous and I expect our fans to fall in love with her.”

With her operatic training, and love of the blues, Lara was born to perform. She has come a long way in a short time, earning loyal fans nationwide. After an impressive showcase at the Los Angeles NAMM Show 2003, Lara embarked on an ambitious tour playing from California to Maine to promote her second album entitled "Faces of the Blues," (released June 2002 at the Monterey Blues Festival; a unique honor for any local musician). The album is currently getting airplay in several countries around the world.

Lara and her band have shared the bill with headliners Etta James, Little Richard, James Brown, Bobby Blue Bland and many more; Lara also lent her talent to sing back-up with Triple Seven at the Fillmore in San Francisco, opening up for the pop band Smashmouth. Lara fronts and leads two bands. Velvet Plum, a popular bay area cover band that lends talent from San Jose's finest musicians, and the Lara Price band, a soulful rockin' blues band. It was with the Lara Price band that she performed at the 14th world-renowned Annual San Jose Jazz Festival 2003.

It's no wonder her music transcends the blues and crosses the line into music that is unequivocally superb. Her musical journey started at the young age of 6, taking piano lessons with Legendary 80's music innovator Howard Jones. At 12 she was singing solo and went on to take operatic voice lessons at Boise State University. She arrived in the Bay Area in 1998 in search for her dreams of singing in a band. Lara began running her own blues jam at JJ's Blues, and was featured in an inspiring article about blues jams in September 2000 issue of the Blues Revue. Lara fell in love with the blues without expecting to, "I didn't find the blues, the blues found me".

Currently Lara looks forward to promoting her fourth CD, entitled "I Got News" with song writting partner and lead guitar player Laura Chavez, released this year, and a tour in China. She's an All-American singer with a sultry stage presence and a voice that demands you're attention-smoky, lonely, sexy, and powerful. It's all about the love of music and letting the crown share in her passion.

Since arriving new to the bay area in 1998 and starting her music career, Lara has come a long way in a short time, earning loyal fans from Los Angeles to Grass Valley. This year the Lara Price Band will embark on a national tour to promote Lara's second album entitled "Faces Of The Blues", which is currently getting airplay nationwide. Lara and her band have shared the bill with headliners Etta James, Little Richard, James Brown, Bobby Blue Bland and many more. Last year Lara returned to the Monterey Blues Festival for the second year in a row. Lara also lent her talent to sing back up with Triple Seven at the Fillmore in San Francisco, opening up for the pop band Smashmouth.

When it comes to the blues, Lara found inspiration in a future blues legend, Susan Tedeschi, and queen of soul Aretha Franklin. It was on the stage at JJ's, where Lara runs her own Blues Jam, that she caught the attention of Blues Revue Magazine who featured her in their September 2000 issue. One of the aspiring blues players participating at Lara's jam was guitarist Laura Chavez, who plays with both emotion and technical ability beyond her years. Laura's talent was recognized in a blues guitar contest sponsored by Fender Guitars in which she was first runner-up out of 4200 entries. Laura inspired Lara with her playing, and now she is featured in the band. The common bond that Lara and Laura share is that they both fell in love with the blues without expecting to. As Lara says, "We didn't find the blues the blues found us".

This year Lara and Laura were honored to showcase their stuff at the NAMM show in Los Angeles. She's an all-American singer with a sultry stage presence and a voice that demands your attention - smoky, lonely, sexy, and powerful. It's all about the love of the music and letting the crowd share in her passion. The Lara Price Band, a five piece band comprised of Lara Price on vocals, Laura Chavez on guitar, "Baldhead" Fred Rautman on drums, Jack Cannon on bass, and Gary Goldsworthy on Keyboards, can be seen live in venues throughout California and across the nation. "Faces of the Blues" can be heard on radio stations from California to Massachusetts.

My name is Lara Price. I first came on to the Northern California music scene in 1998. Since then I have recorded 5 records and 1 "live" DVD. It's been almost 6 years since my last record. In order to keep relevant in the music business an artist needs to keep making records. As of late I have been working on my craft and have been blessed to have collaborated with some amazing talent. I feel like I am ready to unleash my 6th and best record entitled, "I Mean Business".

Price was born in the war torn country of Vietnam in 1975. Abandoned at birth
Price became a part of the controversial Operation Baby Lift, the mass
evacuation of orphans from South Vietnam to the United States. Her journey out
of Vietnam to her new home quickly turned into a tragedy when the C-5 Galaxy
airplane carrying the precious cargo crashed shortly after take off, killing
half the occupants on board. Lara Price is a survivor.
Price discovered the power of music at the tender age of 6, when she started
taking piano lessons in England with legendary 80’s music innovator Howard
Jones. At the age of 12 she found her singing voice. Price was influenced and
encouraged by her junior high and high school choir teacher, Blake Olmstead. She
continued her vocal studies operatically with Dr. Lynn Berg at BSU. She arrived
in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1997 to pursue her dream of singing in a band.
By 1998, Price began running her own blues jam at JJ’s Blues in San Jose, and
was featured in an inspiring article about blues jams in the September issue of
the Blues Revue Magazine.
The journey of Lara’s blues band (The Lara Price Band) includes tours across the
United States and China. It also includes five CD’s that Price has produced,
co-written, and is featured playing drums, guitar, and back up vocals. Lara and
her band have shared the bill with R&B legends, Etta James, James Brown, Buddy
Guy, Leon Russell and many more.
Like many full time musicians, Lara fronts and leads several musical projects:
Lara Unplugged, an acoustic duo; Velvet Plum, a popular top 40’s party band, The
Lara Price Band, a rootsy, rockin’ blues band and the Lara Price Blues Revue a
fantastic 10 piece R&B show band.
She’s an All American singer with a sultry stage presence and a voice that
demands your attention- smoky, lonely, sexy, and powerful. It’s no wonder her
music transcends the blues and crosses a line into music that is unequivocally
superb.
