Chaz Humley and the Effects, from Teays Valley, West Virginia, was born from the life-long desire of four men to play the blues. The members all played in R&B, jazz and soul bands, separately or in pairs, before coming together in late 2009. Scott Rogan and Jim Spence grew up together, forming their first band in 1964. Tim Coll and Alan Handley first played music together in the late 1960s. Years later, all four men walked into Betty’s House of Blues and their lives changed forever. Their original music shows they’ve taken the blues to heart. Their CD, Only the Blues, covers most genres of the blues and pays homage to those masters who came before them. Chaz Humley and Effects … Only the Blues.

"When Chaz Humley and the Effects play, an unmatched musical connection is birthed. The heartbeat is pure with this band. The moment of musical perfection is achieved, the groove where every chord strummed, bass note plucked, beat drummed and vocal sung compliments one another like family. Jim Spence, Alan Handley, Scott Rogan and Tim Coll are masters of their craft, and play with passion in their hearts."
