Helmed by singer/guitarist Dom Turner, as well as percussionist Rob Hirst (yes, he of Midnight Oil fame), the band also currently features the vocal talents of Broderick Smith and Ian Collard (of Collard, Greens & Gravy, and more) on harmonica. They've been regular favourites on the festival circuit for decades, still tour regularly (and will be to support this album), have been nominated for various ARIAs and have seen their music used in Australian TV shows.
In other words, the Backsliders are an Australian institution, and Dark Side, featuring 12 new recordings (all originals except for an ace Jesse Fuller cover and a ripping version of Skip James' 'Hard Times Killing Floor') and two bonus remix cuts done by Sydney DJ Fingers Malone (and these bonus cuts are most certainly worth hearing), is one of the best things they've ever done. /Amazon
