This legendary showcase tour is now 17 years old, but the concept remains unbeatable and therefore unchanged. Three up-and-coming talents from the most respected blues label in Europe. Three live sets that run the gamut of genres and emotions. And to top it off, a huge jam session where all the artists let loose together - and ask the audience to do the same.

On 09.03.2022, Katie Herny, Will Jacobs and Ghalia Volt did just that! At Café Hahn in Koblenz, these 3 outstanding artists made the audience shake. This CD & DVD immortalises this unique concert and lets the viewer and listener relive a great evening over and over again. Katie Henry is one of a kind. On stage she flits between vocal mike, piano and Gibson SG in a style that encompasses rock, roots, R&B, soul, funk and pop. You might be reminded of Bonnie Raitt for a moment. But it is her very own genuine charisma, her honest songwriting and the musician's impressive skills on two instruments that have earned her her reputation.

Will Jacobs a modern blues R&B/soul artist from Chicago, Illinois, USA. At 28 years old, he is best known for his powerful live performances. Whether he is playing clubs, festivals, performing with other world-class musicians, contesting sessions or composing, Will is always excited to share his passion for music with audiences.

Brussels-born Ghalia Volt has lived and toured in the US for many years and has embraced the original blues like few other European artists. The singer and guitarist first caused a stir as frontwoman of the New Orleans-based Mama's Boys; her 2019 album Mississippi Blend cemented her reputation as an exceptional talent. In early 2021, she released her album One Woman Band, which was recorded at the prestigious Royal Studios in Memphis. An album where she could prove her skills as a multi-instrumentalist.

Katie Henry - High Road

Size: 99.8 MB
Time: 43:31
File: MP3 @ 320K/s
Released: 2018
Styles: Blues, Blues Rock
Art: Front

1. Nowhere Fast [4:20]
2. Nothing to Lose [3:31]
3. Chapels (feat. Marcus Randolph) [4:06]
4. High Road [3:15]
5. Carry You [6:49]
6. Gypsy Sister [4:53]
7. Dead Man's Hands [4:09]
8. Someday [3:12]

A native of Sussex County and a fast-rising blues rocker, Henry will be joined on stage for this special Thanksgiving Eve show by John Ginty on the B-3 organ, Antar Goodwin on bass, Jonathan Fritz on guitar and Dan Fadel on drums. Henry sings and plays lead guitar.

"I really can't wait!" said Henry. "It's going to be an awesome night. People can expect to hear all 10 tracks off the album with my dream band playing behind me."

The songs on the CD are blues-based but also contain elements of pop, rock, and gospel, allowing for an almost eclectic variety of sounds.

Henry identifies three songs in particular that she would consider "features" -- the title track "High Road," "Chapels" and "Takes A Lot."

"The lyrics for ‘High Road' mean a lot to me and I feel that it will be easy for people to relate and connect with them," she said. "Plus, Billy Harvey's harmonies (he guests on the CD) that he sings throughout the song are just incredible. The song ‘Chapels' features Marcus Randolph on the pedal steel slide guitar, and his playing brings the song to a whole other level, especially when it is coupled with John Ginty's organ playing. I also consider ‘Takes A Lot' a feature because the recording captures the essence and fun of the live show. It takes listeners on a journey and speaks to how it ‘takes a lot' to go after what you want, which relates to my experience creating this album. My favorite line from the song is ‘If this were easy, it wouldn't be so fun.'"

Henry, who hails from Vernon and graduated from Pope John High School and later Manhattan College, composes her songs on both piano and guitar. Goodwin, meanwhile, co-wrote many of the songs on the CD with Henry. Ginty produced the album. Even before the CD was completed, though, her songs were getting plenty of attention at festivals in the area, including Michael Arnone's Crawfish Fest and the Black Potato Festival.

In addition to the originals on the CD, you can expect to hear some of Henry's favorite classic blues covers and from artists "who have influenced me over the years."
