Fronted by Mississippi Jeff Cripps, (well known owner of A# Sharp Recording Studio and 2002, 2003 and 2005 Australian Blues Music Awards’ Producer Of The Year, with a dozen of his artists also having won Australian Blues Awards) on slide guitar and vocals. The band is driven by John Gannon on bass with Derek Smith on drums in the engine room.

With grand performances at the Goulburn, Thredbo, Launceston, Newcastle, Forth Valley, Gosford and Davistown Blues Festivals, and sundry other gigs in Sydney, Perth, Tasmania, Canberra and the East Coast, it has been proven without a shadow of a doubt, Mississippi Shakedown never fails to please an audience, whether it be an audience of blues aficionados, or Joe Public.

They use OLD Microphones, OLD guitars, OLD drums, OLD Amplifiers, hell even they drive an OLDsmobile…!!!
Do they sound OLD, yep, you’re darn tootin’ they do and the young folk love them cause they ain’t heard nothin’ like them before, or as they say B4… their Mum’s and Dad’s might have, but not them… Mum and Dad think they’re playing updated “South of the Mason Dixon Line” kinda rockin’ Blues but those kids think it’s all new, but we ain’t gonna tell ‘em, might spoil their Latte coffee drinking sessions..!!

Mississippi Shakedown, is an Australian blues rock band from Sydney, Australia, they play with a blues inspired sound that is heavily driven by slide guitar. The band takes a lot of influence from early southern blues musicians as can be seen from their debut self-titled album that features amongst other things an Elmore James record.

The band is fronted by well known Sydney studio owner Jeff Cripps along with Wayne Leffler, John Gannon and Derek Smith. Their music catalogue to date consists of four studio albums released since late 2006 and also a full length rarities release.
