THE REMEDY is the latest from Too Slim and the Taildraggers. Too Slim is a monster guitarist and unabashed Blues-Rocker. This hard driving album is the follow up to the band's acclaimed HIGH DESERT HEAT, which was nominated for a 2019 Blues Music Award in the Blues'Rock Album category. Recorded in Nashville at Taildragger bassist Zach Kasik's Wild Feather Recording studio THE REMEDY, produced by Too Slim and the Taildraggers, features ten new original songs and a cover of the Elmore James classic 'Sunnyland Train.' There's lots of big guitars plus some well-placed banjo, slide guitar, and serious harmony vocals from the band ' the continuing evolution of the Taildragger sound. The new release ranges from straight ahead Blues to Blues Rock and Americana. Also featured are guest appearances from some of the band's favorite harmonica players ' Jason Ricci, Richard 'Rosy' Rosenblatt and Sheldon Ziro.

Lucky 13 is a compilation of the first two "Too Slim and the Taildragger" recordings , "Swingin' in the Underworld" 1988 and "Rock em Dead" 1990.

This album is a great representative of the bands formative years. The band was a hard drivin' blues rock band doing the club circuit in those days. All the original tunes are penned by founding member and guitarist Tim "Too Slim" Langford. There is a great selection of covers by the band including a "raucous" rendition of Link Wray's "Rumble. This is a "must have" CD for Too Slim fans!!

With albums such as El Rauncho Grundgé, King Size Troublemakers, and Rock 'em Dead already in their catalog, it would seem that Spokane's most revered blues-roots rockers would have more sin than redemption on their minds. But this disc's title accurately describes its contents, which find guitarist/vocalist Tim "Too Slim" Langford dipping into both concepts with equal ferocity. His sly, whiskey-tinged vocals and lyrical yet blunt guitar can't help but be compared to early, pre-MTV fame ZZ Top, especially when he's getting lecherous on "Oven Burning Woman" ("she really likes my wood"), the self-explanatory, double entendre "Broad Minded," and "Some Kinda' Momma" ("I'd like to make a momma outta you," he snarls). While this reads as misogynistic fare, Too Slim, like Top's Billy Gibbons, sings with such a sly, self-deprecating grin, it's impossible not to get caught up in the good-time vibe. On the redemption side is "Walk on Water" that recalls Slim's alcoholic past, the cautionary "Mississippi Moon," where Slim gets scared straight after being chased by the devil's hounds, and "Soul Perspective," where he sees the light and finds his clear "soul perspective." There's no preaching involved as Slim sings the redemptive songs with a leer similar to the sinner ones, leading his rugged two-piece through stripped down, raw, blues rocking licks as if he invented them. While subtlety is not generally a word associated with this outfit, nothing is overstated, either musically or vocally as Slim moseys through the songs with a low-key yet contagious lackadaisical charm that's consistently endearing. He never overplays his guitar either, sort of an anomaly for a three-piece rock band, preferring to let the tunes speak for themselves which they do quite well, even eloquently. The closing five-minute "Too Cool," the disc's only instrumental, is a lightly swinging jazz/blues vamp that shows Slim's guitar chops can easily slot into less strident fare. Whether it was the salvation he found in life, or just getting older, Slim balances his two sides with equal proficiency, making this one of his most fully realized releases out of an impressive catalog of swamp rocking fare.

This is string-bending, guitar orientated, blues based rock & roll, with some hard-rocking northwestern attitude thrown in for spice. Too Slim keeps the pace from ever getting stagnant by changing it around all the time; he has arranged the songs well. He wrote all but 3 of the songs, and 2 of those 3 he co-wrote. He isn't going to win any prizes for his vocals, but they are more than adequate, and actually quite good on the rousing country stomper, Big Barn Boogie. There are no weak songs on this disc and for me the strongest song is the last cut Rosado. This is a laid back sleepy blues tune that puts me in mind of Santo and Johnny's Sleepwalk in the way it quietly and sinuously keeps pushing towards the finish. The Taildraggers are ably assisted by the addition of 3 sparkling guests to give that extra finish to the sound, Mark Hummel on harmonica, Sam "lightening" Hopkins - guitar and Dave Cebert on piano. This is a benchmark for the group.

This 1997 release by Too Slim & the Taildraggers is chock-full of the wide-ranging spectrum of blues in its plethora of styles as done by this fun group in their own inimitable fashion. The thing that always seems to come through on this group's discs is their love of playing. This band is rooted in the blues, but they are not confined to any one style of playing, and the wide-roaming influences of non-commercial radio expose wider and wider varieties of music which burst out all over this disc. A brief sampling of the styles shows that you've got the rockabilly swing of "Uranium Blues," and the Chicago sound of "A Girl Like Mine," and the New Orleans-influenced, Caribbean-inflected rhythms of "Have to Let You Go." Their version of the old Duane Eddy/Lee Hazlewood tune "Tiger Love and Turnip Greens" has some excellent country-style picking and shows how far afield this group can range and still come out sounding good. One might question how much of this is played well with such wide variety; this band can stand and play toe to toe with bands that come from any particular genre. They have their licks down and play them with all the verve and intensity that any good band has. They have a strong foundation in blues and are able to rock & roll with any other group that has similar roots in any of these broad categories. Tim Langford (guitarist, aka Too Slim) and Thomas C. Brimm (bass) wrote ten of the 15 cuts, each of which can stand on its own. Particularly touching is "Blues for Eb," a song of tribute and love to an inspiration for this album. There are times the singing begins to fall a bit short, as on "Killing Me," but the playing never falters. This is a great group to put on and watch the miles float by on the highway, as there is always some mighty good playing and energy to keep you going.

Fantastic RockabillySwampBluesRock!
This album rates right up there as one of my favorite albums of all time. It's one of those rare few CD's that you can listen to over and over without tiring of it. In fact, I recently loaned this album to a friend that lives in Seattle and, although he's only had it for a couple of weeks, I'm here in Amazon.com right now to purchase another copy because I can't stand to not have it in my collection. Tim 'Too Slim' Langford is quite an accomplished guitar player (see the recent Washington Blues Society article on Tim at [...]) as well as a harmonica player. As the front man for the Taildraggers, he has been playing at juke joints and festivals around the Northwest, as well as nationally and internationally, for nearly 20 years now. And does he ever rock the place! Too Slim and the Taildraggers are such a huge hit with crowds that they are the ONLY band to be invited back to the Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Festival in Washington State each of it's 16 years. And this album shows why. From the first rocking cut, "One More Gallon of Gasoline" to the closing "Hell's Half Acre", this is one fantastic album, with not one song that I don't like a lot. My favorites are the heartrending "She's Not Comin' Back", the laid-back "I Just Don't Care", the yummy cajun-flavored title cut, and my hands down favorite "Doghouse" (which might as well be my theme song). This is a fantastic album. Listen to the first five songs here on Amazon and see if you don't agree.

Too Slim & the Taildraggers' 1992 release is a solid, foot-stomping collection that appropriates numerous electric blues styles, but rarely seems hackneyed. While his singing is adequate, it's really Tim "Too Slim" Langford's fret-flying guitar playing that keeps the bus on the road. Throughout "Bone of Contention" and a furious "Shake 'Em on Down," Langford channels Stevie Ray Vaughan while nodding to Robert Cray and the boogie blues of ZZ Top. Texas blues seems to run deep on El Rancho Grundgé. It's in the smoky air of a billiards room during the lowdown and dirty shuffle "Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired" and in the swagger of "Lowdown Hoedown," which suggests -- in a good way -- SRV's "Look at Little Sister." Elsewhere, the band has some fun with the surf-inflected "El Rauncho Grundgé" and pours electric mud all over "These Boots Are Made for Walking." Overall, this a strong set from a crack bar band with a love of the blues and a flair for playing.

Too Slim & the Taildraggers are a hit on several continents, but at home in the Washington state city of Spokane, they're a little like the Rodney Dangerfield of blues bands. Despite the band's release of more than half-a-dozen CDs and numerous national and international tours, many citizens, when first meeting the band's frontman and leader, Spokane native Tim "Too Slim" Langford, scratch their heads in non-recognition and ask what his profession is. Upon finding out that he's a blues musician, the next question is usually an inquiry concerning where the band performs. The situation is a far cry from what the band experienced on a trip to Belgium, where everyone they met requested an autograph and owned their CDs. All in all, it sure isn't anything at all like the recognition received by many other musicians in their hometowns, like Bruce Springsteen in his home base of Asbury Park. There, everyone knows that "The Boss" goes to the Stone Pony. If all this wasn't enough to make Langford and the Taildraggers feel like they get no respect, the next anecdote might be. One night in a parking lot, as Langford was leaving a gig in the city, a stranger pressed something into his neck from behind, something that felt suspiciously like a gun. His assailant, a woman, told him to fork over that night's pay, adding injury to insult. Still, for all of the drawbacks, Langford and his band intend to remain in Spokane between tours that take them to Norway, Belgium, and throughout Europe. Because their hometown is also home to an incredible number of extremely talented musicians, it's where Langford intends to base the Taildraggers for a long time to come. Times haven't been all bad in Spokane for Too Slim & the Taildraggers, to be sure. The fan base they have built up since the band's formation in 1986 is a loyal and strong one. The band has had the opportunity to perform with a long list of heavyweight artists that includes Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley, and Robert Cray (the latter has long been a major influence on Langford and the band). Other main influences include Elmore James and Duane Allman. The Cascade Blues Association named Too Slim & the Taildraggers Best Regional Band for five consecutive years, beginning in 1995. The Inland Empire Blues Society dubbed them Best Blues Band for four straight years, from 1995 through 1998. The same blues society honored the CD Blues for EB as Best Album in 1998, and gave the same honor to the CD Swamp Opera two years earlier. Their 2000 release King Size Troublemakers featured guests Mark Hummel on harmonica, Lightnin' Hopkins on guitar, and Dave Cebert on piano, while their 2003 release Tales of Sin & Redemption featured the single "Mississippi Moon." Their 2007 release, The Fortune Teller, focused on more of a swampy Americana sound, while their tenth album, 2009's Free Your Mind, added a dash of gospel. Blues singer Duffy Bishop made a guest appearance on the title track of 2011's Shiver, the band's last studio effort before relocating to Nashville, Tennessee. Tim Langford is Too Slim and the recipient of many awards in the last two and a half decades as well as having released fifteen albums during that time both solo and with the Taildraggers. Anthology is a double CD and the latest release from Too Slim and the Taildraggers. Anthology features three previously unreleased tracks, alternate versions of previous releases and cuts from Tim 'Too Slim' Langford's acoustic album. This is an introspective CD which includes material from the breadth of the Underworld Records catalog. The first disc contains the Blues/Rock side of Too Slim's catalog and the second CD features more blues and acoustic based material.
