Released on December 17 by Bloos Records, "Night Lore Blues" is the new album by Roman bluesman Bonny Jack (aka Matteo Senese), born in 1984, on his second album after his debut with "Bone River Blues" (DK, 2020), recorded in its rehearsal room in complete autonomy during the first lockdown.
Passionate music scholar since adolescence, after several years spent between Rock and electronic music playing with different groups and a long experience in Seattle, the return to Italy sees him return to his first love, the Blues, this time alone, taking named after two of the most famous pirates in history, Anne Bonny and Jack Rackman; it's all in his hands: vocals, guitar, kick drum and snare drum, the rough sound of the origins, the hoodoo influences and the noir-inspired lyrics. After the preview concerts in November in Salerno, Bari and Rome, December will be full of dates in various cities of Italy to promote the album by presenting it live to the public.
Exactly one month from the date of publication, the single “Dr. Jenny & Mr. Gail "- made by Sonar Production, starring the actress Elisa Cecca - who faces The eternal struggle between man and his dark side, inspired by an interview with actress Jennifer Lawrence and the classic of literature Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, as well as being the opening track of the album.
The eleven tracks run through the streets of the Rock Blues, immediately outlining the intentions of ours, who travels on dusty roads handling the guitar with ease, managing to mix well the dirty and dark atmosphere with an unexpectedly bright voice, which sometimes sings hoarse , at times clean and clear. In some cases we move markedly towards the Rock, between distorted guitars and here and there the feeling of walking among lost and cursed souls. The rhythm is always decided, whether it is a slide guitar or a banjo to lead the dances.
And even when the tight pace gives way to slower times, with the irresistible cadence to drag the listening to the underworld of the mind, lovers of the good old Blues will definitely feel at home, in familiar and reassuring territories.
