Johnny Madsen was born March 31, 1951 in Thyborøn, Denmark. He started his musical career in local bands in the Thyborøn/Lemvig area. In the middle of the 70s he was a member of the folk group Rumlekvadrillen that released three albums, today considered collectibles. After that he was part of the bluegrass ensemble La Porta Band, which released a record in 1981. Madsen song on that album resulted in that he was encouraged to go solo, and he made his debut under his own name in 1982. Since then things have exclusively gone forward for Madsen, and today he is among the big established names - not least on the live stage. Johnny Madsen has also released material together with Peter Belli, Nanna and Billy Cross under the name Hobo Express, who in 1989 had a big hit with "One To Be Like".

Personnel: Johny Madsen (vocals, guitars), Knud Møller (guitar), Niels Mogensen (bass), Henrik From & Michael Friis (drums), Martin Jønsson (keyboards, Henrik Hansen (haronica).
