After almost 25 years of living a rock 'n' roll life with Ten Beers Faster and lots of alcohol, one day I decided to grow up. Growing up also means no longer needing recognition. I wanted to process my life and the knowledge I had gained for myself. Just for me. I picked up my guitar, stopped drinking and started working through everything musically.
But I quickly realized that you can't get very far with three fingerings on the guitar and I thought about learning a fourth fingering. So I took lessons from our former rehearsal room rental company and studio owner. Said and done. At the end of the guitar course I started talking to Peter Apel. I told him about my “project” and he wanted to hear it. Oddly enough, He liked it. He offered to help me arrange and compose and play the guitar for me. Very good. Then I could concentrate more on singing.
Until then, it should still be like a diary just for me. So I played everything to Peter. With just 3 moves from me, Peter was able to take my thoughts and melodies out of my head and play exactly as I had imagined. When we finished the first 12 tracks, he said if we got it mastered it would sound a lot better. I said well. But more than 3 people should not know about the project. It should only stay in my heart and living room.
But somehow more people heard about it and liked it. And then the project took on a momentum of its own that I couldn't stop. Masterer Achim Gätjen also liked it. He placed me with the music label Fuego. We'll see what happens next...
