Rain, the new CD from Lew Jetton & 61 South, promises to further Jetton's reputation as a clever songwriter, and dynamic, original vocalist. The band's previous 2 releases, State Line Blues and Tales From A 2 Lane, were both “Picks to Click” on XM/Sirius Radio's Bluesville Channel, and Rain promises to take up where the other two left off.

The songs on Rain range from poignant (Lay Me Down) to redemptive (Glory Train) to contemporary (Who's Texting You) to humorous (Move On, Yvonne). Think a little Stevie Ray Vaughan seasoned with cajun and creole spices. Real Blues magazine called Jetton's stylings “Southern Fried Chicago Blues.” Rain brings together the longtime 61 South bandmates, along with several of Jetton's close friends, including 2-Time International Thumbpicking Champion and IBC Semi-Finalist Alonzo Pennington, former multi-instrumentalist for guitar legend Johnny Hiland, Solon Smith, former Lonnie Mack backup vocalist Miranda Louise, J.D. Wilkes, harp ace from Th' Legendary ShackShakers and the Reverend JoAnn Green, who's contribution is actually a clip from her longtime gospel radio show, “Words to Ponder” on WDXR-AM in Paducah, KY.

Although Lew Jetton & 61 South has been around more than 20 years, the sound remains fresh and honest, as their live shows continue to combine high energy with deep emotion, just like their new CD, Rain.

"A Southern drawl singin' voice that's straight 'ol blues and the guitar work drips with Dixie blues-rock flavour, but with a touch of Chicago. 61 South has a harmonica player that I swear is the reincarnation (in style at least) of Slim Harpo and he plays like no one else on the blues scene today. Straight authentic Southern style blues in all its down-home glory, too damn good to be a local secret, and 61 South should be on festival stages all over the U.S. showing how real Southern Blues should sound at it's best. This CD is one of those rare ones that make it all worthwhile. To discover a disc this entertaining and rewarding gives one a great boost of adrenaline and motivation."

"61 South" is a 3 piece rocking blues band powered by the soaring sounds of the steel guitar. "61 South's" members are veterans of the PA/NJ/NY music scene having opened for many major and national acts over their 50 plus years of collective musical experience. The unique sound of the steel guitar in a blues/rock format is what sets this band apart from other blues/rock bands. This is not your father's twangy, country steel guitar. Far from it. Think Duane Allman or Robert Randolph playing in a 3 piece blues/rock format. Playing blues in a classic rock style reminiscent of Z.Z. Top or George Thorogood, "61 South" is sure to rock away your blues.
