Spoonful is a rhythm and blues rock band comprising some of Melbourne's most highly regarded and most active musicians: Paul Winstanley, Kit Warhurst (Rocket Science) Andre Warhurst (Silver Night Drive) David Lord (The Rectifiers) Well known for their capacity to cover a diversity of genres, the Spoonful repertoire includes some of the finest and most complex R & B tracks from the 60s and 70s and now their original material (featured on the new album) is gaining significant attention. Their reputation for live performances means that punters always expect a highly charged performance and they always get it. Most times, they get a whole lot more.
Spoonful's first album was a live recording: "Spoonful: Live at the Clifton Hill Hotel". Their latest album "Shake" was recorded at Eastern Bloc Studios with Jonathan Burnside and was launched on June 3rd, 2006.
Andre Warhurst (lead guitar, vocals) has toured Australia and the U.K with Neon, Japan with Rocket Science and appeared as guest guitarist on Jet's multi-award winning album "Get Born". Regarded as one of the finest guitarists in the country, Andre also fronts Melbourne band Silver Night Drive and writes their original material. Kit Warhurst (drums, vocals) is the eclectic drummer/ vocalist from Rocket Science whose latest album, "Eternal Holiday" was released in September 2004 to critical acclaim. Kit is a founding member of the infamous Black Rose whose documentary recently featured as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival. Kit is also a writer for and member of Rockside Dept aka Rosso, Pinko, Hursto; a collaboration with Tim Ross (Merrick and Rosso) and Steve Pinkerton (The Anyones). David Lord (harmonica, keyboards, vocals) is a member of Melbourne band The Rectifiers whose four albums have all received critical acclaim. Lordo also played in Luxum, Garden State, The Supreme Masters of Relaxed Living, and Black Rose. Paul Winstanley (bass) provides the sublime bass for Spoonful has been the can-do anchor man of the band for more than ten years.
