Hounds Tooth has earned accolades across the Midwest including three consecutive Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Nominations for Best Blues Band with their high-energy show of modern blues. With a set list rich in modern blues, original material, and blues-rock numbers, Hounds Tooth’s Soul Rockin' Blues appeals to a wide range of audiences. Hounds Tooth has opened for national acts including Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Shannon Curfman. Additionally, they have performed at some of the top festivals and clubs in the Midwest including: Prairie Dog Blues Festival; Shank Hall; Big Bull Falls Blues Festival; Potawatomi Casino, Paramount Blues Festival; Summerfest; Wisconsin State Fair; The Slippery Noodle; and The Music Under Glass Series at The Domes.
Hounds Tooth is led by guitarist/vocalist Joe Kadlec. Joe’s polished vocal delivery and fretboard flurries consistently wow audiences. On the bass guitar is Lee Gabriel who adds an energetic presence to the rhythm section. Not only can he sit right in the pocket, but he has no problem laying slapping the cables on a funky groove. The longest tenured member of the group is drummer, Jeff Oscarson, whose signature and funky beats are the foundation of the Soul Rockin Blues Sound. Jeff has a smooth style with incredible touch, and is equally comfortable laying down a solid groove as well as taking the spotlight with an exciting drum solo.
Hounds Tooth’s most recent CD, Soul Rockin (Tweed Tone Records) hit the Roots Music Report Charts at #41 for the Top Blues Albums (5/21/10) and spent two weeks on the Roots Music Report Top State Albums for Wisconsin.
