Genaro Palacios, leader of the group Gato Gordo, who in 1985 formed La Banda de Blues, which performed in most the Guadalajara forums. He then travels to San Diego, California, where he is invited by Mr. Fro Brigham to the Mr. Fro Brigham and His Preservation Band, which participates in the presidential campaign of Jessie Jackson, the first African-American candidate in the United States. In 1993, Genaro returned to Guadalajara and formed Gato Gordo with two local musicians: Javier Soto on drums and Germán Quintana on bass. A group whose sound is based mainly on blues and the variety of styles that are derived from that musical root, such as rock, jazz, rockabilly, swing, country, and also mixing it with other traditional New Orleans rhythms.
