Back Pack Jones was formed in 2012 and is comprised of five Springfield, Illinois area musicians, each with a long musical history. The common thread of a love for the blues and a desire to share blues music with others has brought this talented group together. What started as a simple desire to play the blues and have fun has resulted in a combination of diversity, originality and passion now known as Back Pack Jones.
Michael Baier (bass and vocals), a career musician, music teacher and academic music director provides not only incredible bass chops, but the rare talent of bringing out the best in musicians and performances.
Wendell Day (keyboards) brings decades of experience leading church choirs and countless other spiritual performances as a very active music minister. Wendell provides Back Pack Jones with fingers that fly over the keyboards with true soul and deep spirituality.
Harvey Horton (drums and vocals), who started drumming at age 14, has played professionally for nearly two decades, and always provides a solid foundation with flare as well as incredible vocal harmonies not often heard in the blues genre.
Kirk Lonbom (guitar) is a constant study of the blues, and recognized his love for playing blues guitar in his teens. Kirk has been often recognized for his heart-felt blues guitar phrasing and passion-driven solos.
Mike "Big Mike" Wallace (vocals) provides blues vocals that will likely bring you goose-bumps. Big Mike's smooth and soulful vocals and incredible stage presence and his ability to relate with an audience will leave you wanting to hear more.
