Steve Cohen, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a performing musician, an educator, and a booking agent. He has been sponsored by Hohner Inc., the world's largest maker of harmonicas, since 1986. He also plays the guitar and sings. Steve performs regularly in several of his own ensembles, and also performs as a sideman for several other groups. He has produced and published 9 recordings of his own, and his playing has appeared on dozens of other recordings, demos, and commercials.
Cohen has received public recognition, winning awards from several organizations, including WAMI, the Shepard/Express, and Milwaukee Magazine. He was a finalist at the 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis as a solo performer. Steve has taught at UW Milwaukee and also at the Wisconsin Conservatory Of Music, as well as privately. He has operated the Blues Central booking agency for over 35 years. He has also worked as a disc jockey, journalist, concert promoter and vinyl record dealer. He has written 5 harmonica instruction books published by Hal Leonard, and his playing appears in over a dozen other Hal Leonard books.
