Self-taught, Luiz Rocha joined the music scene playing the guitar in the late '90s. Inspired by the North American country music singer Alan Jackson, he played in bars and joined bands of the genre such as The Mustangs and Winchesters, always as a backing vocalist and guitar player. But it was after hearing the song "Walkin' With Snooky" (Snooky Pryor) in 2001 that he became more interested in the harmonica and identifying himself with the blues, especially after listening to various blues bands. Since then he decided to explore the sonority of the instrument by including it more often in his repertoire and meet other, more experienced, harmonica players such as Yberê Camargo who in late 2003 taught him to amplify the sound of the harmonica.
Through Yberê, Luiz started listening to the great masters of blues harmonica - from Chicago veterans like Little Walter, James Cotton, Junior Wells to more contemporary players such as Sugar Blue. It was after that he began to focus on a career as a harmonica player and formed his first blues band, Delta Blue, together with the North American guitarist and soul man Lon Bové.
